I really think the PCB should come out and say clearly if they wish to consider these 2 or not and spare us all the suspense!

But would be amazing if there name shows up for the camp!

But how likely is it?

oh God, please no! move on from these cry babies and ex fixers
try new talent please

Imam should be selected ahead of Salman, Sami is already in the squad, both of these are the future, gotta groom them instead of giving chances to Salman fixer

Asif is 34 years old for God's sake! fast bowler's expiry date is mid 30s usually, he's injury prone anyways, he's performance has not been any special recently either, no reason to select him.

I'd rather see Sameen Gul, Abbas, Sadaf, Tabish, Waqas, Atif, anyone of them selected ahead of Asif

PCB just cant say it in open words but we all know that they dont want them back.

Lets look towards the future.

With Salman Butt modelling for Inzi's clothes line I am not sure....

I hope not.

Butt is the second best opener and Asif is the best quick.

But the team is already crippled by old age. They are not the solution. They are the answer to the wrong question.

then who is best opener ? Hafeez?

It's sad to see Asif's career ending like this. But the way PCB has treated him so far, he is unlikely to get selected again.

Salman Butt has always been a mediocre batsman and doesn't really fit into the current setup, so don't see any reason for him to be selected either.

The WIs are a dire test and odi side - Pakistan should use this opportunity to blood some youngsters and not go back to players who are way past their best (and who come with questionable histories).

There was a realistic chance of their selection, provided they continued to show some form in domestic cricket, however the fixing episode in PSL has essentially ended their International careers. They will not be seen in a Pakistan shirt again.

very good point that. I don't think anyone wants to hear the word fixing/er with any cricketer coming into the team any more. Amir been through heck for getting to where he is now

Agreed, especially as this latest episode tarnished their beloved PSL at a time when it was starting to really establish itself. Luckily the quality of games up until the final helped to bring the attention back to cricket, but the Board is unlikely to forgive and forget any time soon.

Further to the above, I think the return of Amir and his subsequent under-performance, compared to expectations, on the international circuit will deter the Board from reading too much into Asif and Butt's domestic form and hoping they will be able to easily reintegrate into International cricket. Especially given that they are considerably older and arguably less talented than Amir was before his ban.

this..Remember when we would throw in players like abdul razzq into the deep end? I hope they give players like shadab khan,Fakhar zaman etc a shot..I mean why not??

No I don't. But if he's scoring runs in domestic cricket, you can understand why he would get selected.

if that's the case, then Imam scored more runs than Butt, 3rd highest in fact in the last QeA trophy
Sami already have a better average than Butt, despite playing most of the matches away from home in difficult conditions

Yes hopefully inzi sees it that way. But with our culture of loving experience and seniors can't rule out Butt returning.

the media is playing a huge role in supporting these fixers
already young talent is performing and should be tried ahead of these old guys

Exactly. I would rather give Sami Aslam another chance, than go back to Butt.

there are at least half a dozen players in first class who deserve to be selected ahead of Butt 'the fixing mastermind'

It would be an incredible leap in the backward direction to select these two.

It would be one of the worst decisions in the history of Pakistan cricket. When we should be looking to rebuild with an eye to the future we would be calling back two blokes who are about 35.

I fully expect Inzi the revolutionary to select them considering his love for recalling TTFs.
