The selectors have put him in a puzzle by not selecting him for the WC but given him a small opening through the door if he is able to give some exceptional performance in the series against England and carve his way through the WC Squad just in time.
Amir will be expected to perform better than the other bowlers in WC Squad to coerce the selectors to make a change and drop another bowler under the excuse of injury , like tight bowling spells or take a 5fer or something, which is a big ask considering the English batters are excellent at their home pitches. If Amir takes just as many wickets compared to other bowlers at same rate then he may not be selected in the WC squad.
Will a series of 3-5 matches be enough to impress the selectors and prove yourself to be the better bowler than other bowlers in the squad? He might need a lot of luck along with performance to make his mark in such little time but he has a chance.
