Will Mohammed Amir be under a lot of pressure to perform in the ODI series against England?

The selectors have put him in a puzzle by not selecting him for the WC but given him a small opening through the door if he is able to give some exceptional performance in the series against England and carve his way through the WC Squad just in time.

Amir will be expected to perform better than the other bowlers in WC Squad to coerce the selectors to make a change and drop another bowler under the excuse of injury , like tight bowling spells or take a 5fer or something, which is a big ask considering the English batters are excellent at their home pitches. If Amir takes just as many wickets compared to other bowlers at same rate then he may not be selected in the WC squad.

Will a series of 3-5 matches be enough to impress the selectors and prove yourself to be the better bowler than other bowlers in the squad? He might need a lot of luck along with performance to make his mark in such little time but he has a chance.

Cheetah Amir will Roar.Dont worry. He can easily replace Garbage Faheem.
Rohit Sharma will be happy today

No. He has nothing to lose. He's not in the squad but if he performs he can be. He'll be more excited than in pressure.

Yes, of course he will and given his recent performances, it is only fair that nothing short of an outstanding performance can get him into that World Cup squad. There is no need to fake an injury or anything like that, the selectors have made it clear that Amir and Asif can get into the 15 on the basis of their performances. This is great because it will ensure that everyone is on their toes and no one slacks off.

Expecting big performances during the series against England from Amir, Asif, Malik, Faheem and most excitingly, Hasnain.

He will perform against England and will be included in the WC squad in sha Allah.

The selectors should understand he is alongside Hassan Ali our best bowler in english conditions and is a big match player, needs to think horses for courses here.

Amir averages 38 in England, Junaid averages 28.

I hope this doesn't cause disharmony within the squad during the England Series.

Aamir is not going to make the 15 member squad. Why would they drop someone to include him? The only reason Aamir is playing England ODIs is to have him ready to join the squad if any of the originally selected pacers gets injured.

Yes he will be under pressure. And he should be, he's been terrible in the last 2 years.

He's probably been under pressure for the past year. He's getting a lot of flack on the media and by the fans, and he's been dropped multiple times.

Nothing has changed.

He rises to the occasion, fully expect him to turn up big time against England and force into the WC Squad in place of either of Faheem/Junaid/Hasnain, whoever fails in this ODI series.

Faheem is a guarantee. I think it is either Amir vs junaid or Amir vs hasnain.

What if he fails badly and Junaid/Hasnain perform decently?

If being all-rounder is his advantage, then I don't think he bats much better than Junaid/Hasnain and is inferior to M Amir. I hope he is the one who misses out, but don't think management will do it.

He's probably on the same level as amir batting wise but has been bowling better lately.

Faheem hasn't ever performed with the bat, atleast Amir has done it from time to time and averages 20.

Although his average might be better than Amir's bowling wise for last couple of years, truth is he too has failed against any half decent opposition and has only performed in one series throughout his career and that was the famous 5-0 drubbing of Zimbabwe B. Unlike him, Mohammad Amir has tormented top oppositions before and can be trusted upon on big occasions.

Faheem has been made a star out of no substance at all.

If Amir can get dropped, Faheem can get dropped. Faheem is nothing infront of Amir popularity wise. If Faheem fails badly then maybe Amir can replace him.

People are under the assumption that Faheem is an all rounder, unfortunately.

Amir is more of an allrounder than Faheem. At least Amir can hit 2-3 fours when needed. Btw the people you're talking about are the pcb management. The public know that faheem is a wannabe all rounder.

Lets not kid ourselves, Amir is still in the frame for WC.

You cant expect all the fast bowlers to be fully fit for 2 months.

Its upto Amir how he responds!

Big match player supposedly - 5 big matches to show if he is good enough for the World Cup squad.

That's what I said and want, Faheem has been made a star by his fans with nothing to show for it throughout his career in terms of performance.

I hope he is dropped, if he fails and shouldn't be an automatic pick for WC.

Amir is done and dusted. Mark my words.

He may end up giving one good performance in England ODIs. I cant expect him to do well in consecutive games, and thats due to lack of gas in his body.

Well if there's ever a time for him to perform, it would be in this series

is Pakistan cricket all about Amir? Amir this, Amir that. There are better contenders out there.

Daft question! Of course he will be under all the pressure in the world if he wants to be in the WC side.

Amir will be in the final squad.
Performance related, injury related, whatever it may be, but he will be there

5 matches.

Probably needs one or two match-winning spells to cement his place in the World Cup squad.

Amir should not be under any stress. I believe Amir WILL play, barring an injury, sooner or later part of the WC.

Eng is his hunting ground and will bring the best out of him.

Yes I totally agree. They have already decided to go to the world cup without him. He is simply there as back up. I don't feel any of the back up players has any real opportunity to get in the world cup squad unless there is an injury to one of the original 15.

I cant see why they would look to demote one of the original 15 players now barring injury. The pace bowlers they have chosen are their first choice. It would make no sense to drop one of the pacers they have picked just to select Amir now. Surely Mickey Arthur and Inzi already know what Amir can do in England but have decided they have better options. I personally would have chosen Amir in the original 15 man squad.

Faheem should be dropped...make a thread like this....he is not an all rounder

If amir outperforms any bowlers during the England series, they other bowlers who are in the squad will feel the heat..

Basically it will be a reaudition for the likes of Hasnain, junaid and Aamir and I think I know who will win the final spot. :)

What's the definition of big match.
If big match means only pak vs India. Then surely he is a big match player.
Because i can't recall his any good performance against any other opposition after his return

Really he performed very well against NZ in Nz and Eng

Rohit Sharma will be happy today

Rohit Sharma was happy in the Asia Cup as well. He is a far greater player than Amir and has worked him out.

It's not just about him performing. If junaid or hasnain pick a five fer surely their wc inclusion will be finalised.

Using this theory, Bumrah got smashed for 68 or something off 9 against pak in ct17 so wasn't he worked out then?
One match doesn't mean anything.
Don't forget that Amir has gotten Rohit out for 0 TWICE.

Bumrah is the number one bowler in the world today, Amir is not even in the top 15. This means that most batsmen in the world have worked Amir out, and Rohit is no different.

Since Amir’s return in 2015/2016, he has troubled Rohit with the incoming delivery in the 4-5 matches that they played against each other.

However, in the Asia Cup, Rohit made a few technical adjustments against Amir to negate his incoming delivery. This is why Rohit is a great player and has been successful for a number of years unlike Amir, who is an average player whose star is fading at a rapid rate.
