His Idol is Steve Smith, who himself turned from a bowling all rounder to a batting all rounder.

He's a good bowler in LOIs, but in tests, his batting has an upper hand, compared to his bowling.

Will Shadab Khan become a batting all rounder, as years pass by?

Leg-spinners have a habit of becoming outstanding Test batsman.

Smith, Azhar, Atherton.

Genuine all rounder - will win Pakistan many matches with bat and ball.

Eventually ? I already see him as a batting all-rounder as his bowling is not as developed as his batting.

If he can become a consistent run scorer capable of converting starts to hundreds then I would make him our Test #6 where most batting ARs in the world play.

No. Unlikely.

History is not on his side.

He averages 30 in first class. He will be a bowling AR only.

Your core competency should be good enough to get you in the team.

Or else, its hard to succeed in test cricket.

This knock was worth a century in normal circumstances. Really exceptional and fighting knock..

He should focus on one discipline else he might turn in to an Irfan Pathan. He is doing well so far but I hope they do not kill the golden goose.

He sees himself as a batting all rounder. Said it recently in an interview to ramiz.

That's I'm worried about.

I told you guys this from the start. Batting is his stronger suit. However, he's not a poor bowler or anything. A genuine allrounder.

smith could not bowl - he was never a all rounder, how many matches suggest he do well with bat and bowl.

i understand that when he first came in, under pointing, he was a player who bowled better than he batted however he did neither, and h was actually known for his fielding - which when he first came in her was very poor.

he than became great with the bat, but no means has smith even produced anything with the ball

To be honest he has potential to become a genuine all rounder , or at least very close.

Hopefully, that is the dream. He seems to take his batting very seriously which is great to see. Hopefully after this tour and at the CPL he continues to develop

This kid has so much character...
Nothing phases him and that’s what makes him special.

He can go onto become an excellent all rounder.

The issue will be how to play him once Yasir is back. 2 legspinners in a team rarely works anywhere and especially not abroad. Could possibly bat at 6 but for that needs to hit centuries.

Pretty impressive, this lad!

What makes it good, is his attitude. You need guys with strong attitude, and this kid is a prime example of that. And also he takes his batting and bowling, seriously, last but not the least, his fielding.

Shahid Afridi, while speaking on a local TV show:

"Did we fail to develop Shadab properly? He had that potential. Shadab has a lot of potential. It could be his own fault, but those around him also share a lot of the blame. In the 2023 World Cup, we discussed how he wasn’t seeking advice or making corrections. He came in as a bowler, and he should have focused more on his bowling. His batting was an extra edge."

"He was an exceptional fielder, a gun fielder. When he went into league cricket, especially the PSL, he tried to become a batter, coming in at No. 3 or 4, inspired by Steve Smith. Not everyone can be Steve Smith. He completely neglected his bowling and became a part-time bowler."

"If those around him, including the coaching staff, had guided him properly, he wouldn’t have lost focus on his main skill. The coaching staff has a huge role in ensuring a player understands their strengths and doesn't drift away. Unfortunately, we easily waste our assets after investing so much in them."

"I told Shadab multiple times that if he ever needed my help, I would personally come to Islamabad or Lahore for him. A player must take responsibility for their own career. It seems like he has some back issues, which are affecting his drift while bowling. Shadab completely abandoned his bowling in his recent cricket for Pakistan. A player should realize their primary skill. He came in as a bowler, and his batting was an extra advantage."

I find it funny people talking about Shadab's role when he himself on a TV Show this week has said that his first priority is always his bowling and that batting comes naturally to him. Plus teams like the fact that he can give batting option too.
