Phenomenal team lead by a phenomenal captain: Eoin Morgan.

The rise from the Ashes.

The journey from an average limited overs side to ODI World Cup winners.

Will the current generation be remembered as an ATG side?

Discuss.

Yes.

They give a lot of stomach pain to quite a few PPers, which usually results in loose motions, but the fact is that they are one of the best ODI sides ever and fully deserved to win the World Cup.

This idea that they can only win on 350+ pitches has also been successfully debunked over the last year or so.

In general, England is the most clutch team at the moment by a country mile. Over the last few years, the amount of matches they have won from improbable situations is amazing.

If they keep up this consistency for another 2/3 years , they will be remembered as an ATG team for me.

Indeed. I used to think too that they are FTBs etc.

But this England team is special. It really is.

They have all the ingredients to become an ATG side.

With the emergence of Archer - they have found a proper fast bowler with swagger who can run through the opposition on his day.

Their batting is perhaps one of the best in the world if not the best.

Most importantly England has gotten a captain who leads them so well and remains calm in pressure situations.

From being “chokers” to a “clutch team” - it has been a remarkable journey.

They have won games on some difficult pitches. You have to give them credit for that. Can't just say they are flat track bullies.

They should look at replacing Moen Ali . He offers nothing right now.

True.

I think they should replace Moeen Ali with another spinner.

England would be far better off without Moeen as he has been doing nothing since a last year or two.

A loser like Moeen doesn’t deserve to be a part of this stellar team. He was the least deserving member of the World Cup winning team, and England reached their peak in the World Cup only when he was booted out.

When Stokes returns, he will be taken out of his misery for good. Billings will not be dropped now. He doesn’t deserve to be.

Morgan has a weird soft spot for Moeen. It is the only reason why he hasn’t been thrown out for good by now.

He should have never been selected after the 2019 World Cup debacle. He has already chickened out of Test cricket.

Eoin Morgan is an ATG limited overs captain and is pretty much heading its way to one of the greatest as well. They are brilliant at home but I would like to see their performance more on spin wickets. The series is still 1-1. With a match winner like Stokes in, this team certainly has a chance to attain ATG status.

Of course they are. They have dominated the field for 5 years, won a WC, made a CT semi and pushed the boundaries of ODI batting possibility.

How has their performance been on non-belters? I remember they were struggling in the World Cup and then suddenly started to get belters after which they recovered.

I think its hard to have an atg team ODI team in the current era because of the amount of player rotation.

England have assembled an excellent core of players over the past few years that has given them unparalleled squad depth. They have performed admirably but have genuinley had certain things stacked in their favour in thay the two most recent ICC events were home events.

Had this recent world cup not been in England would this side have won it? I dont think anybody can hand on hard say they think they would have without doubt.

What I do firmly believe is that they have developed a system that will allow them to be in the hat for major ICC events for many years to come.

Lets see if that translates into Aussie style dominance of ICC events though.

I've watched English cricket enough to always be slightly cautious with my expectations but it would be hard to bet against them.

Really happy for Morgan. I use to support England back in the day just because of Morgan. He use to be a very inconsistent batsman and England a very boring and dull side. But look what has happened now. Morgan has changed the mentality of the English team and is best captain in the World. He backs his players unconditionally and does not lose his calm under pressure. Never seen him angry in a match.
Eng is easily the best side in the World. Its only competition is India. But now England's bowling has come of age. Its better than India now

Long way to go. Will be interested to see how they do in the subcontinent

I want them to win the upcoming t20 and odi world cups. I like them much better than cheating Aussies and arrogant Indians.

Not sure they'll like the team balance of Stokes as the 5th bowler and Billings at 7. Put in one of the Curran's and go with a similar balanced side to the one that won the world cup or get Dawson in as a 2nd spinner when he's fit with both limited overs formats next event being in India.

in England yes. india are better in subcontinent and probably in australia as well. depends on conditions.

England are better in low flat tracks. india is better in sub continent pitches and bouncy pitches. seaming pitches is about even.

Eng in odi is better everywhere. They now have a excellent bowling attack. Last time when eng toured india they were without archer and wood. In Aus too Eng beat a full strength Aus side 4-1

so? india would still beat them regardless whether archer plays or not. in subcontinent and in bouncy wickets I don't see England beating india. india also played without shami, yuzvedra chahal and kuldeep in india. Still kicked their butt. India also had liabilities like jhadav in the middle instead of klRahul who is now moved to number 4. india also have iyer in the middle now.

In flat wickets yes they are better.

That same loser has a world cup winning medal something that his arch critics can't take away.

We will see when eng tours Ind. No point hypothetically saying Ind will win as if its written in destiny
