Azhar is hard to dislodge at the top and I am sure he can up his pace to a SR of 70-75 and score big centuries while rest of the middle order play around him.

Sharjeel can single handedly win you games if you are going to be chasing 300 if he starts firing.

Babar Azam is clearly better in limited overs format and can construct an innings better than he can do in Test.

Umar Akmal if given the chance can also take the attack to Australia.

Sarfraz is dynamite in the ODI's and can quickly score runs to dent the Aussies.

While the Test series result was disappointing, I don't think it's time to write Pakistan off in the ODI series.

Yes, the captaincy might be a problem but I expect Azhar and the batsmen to overcome this problem with stable and constructive batting and some explosive fireworks by Sharjeel, Umar and Sarfraz.

The less said about the bowling better, but one thing going for Pakistan is that Amir is a better bowler in ODI's than tests so he will have his tail up.

I predict a closely fought series in which Pakistan might just edge it 3-2. 4-1 to Pakistan might be a dream.

However even a 3-2 loss won't be so bad in my opinion. I don't think it can get worse than that in Australia.

I would be extremely surprised to lose 5-0 or 4-1 to Australia with this team.

I seriously thought that you had dropped this issue but since you have brought it up again let me share a few numbers with you.

Since his comeback in 2014, Sarfraz has played 24 innings in the top 5 and has averaged 50.31 with a SR of 89.51.

In 2016, Sarfraz averaged 60.14 with a SR of 93.34 in the top 5.

Sarfraz was the highest scorer in Pak vs Eng series and was MOM in the only match we won. Also, he also scored a century when we were 3/3 in the 2nd ODI.

Yes there is, but you need more than a resurgence to win an ODI series in Australia. Our ODI team is on an upward curve, but it is still well below the best ODI teams like Australia, England, India and South Africa. However, the next few years should see us perform better in ODIs than the last few years.

Yes there is, but you need more than a resurgence to win an ODI series in Australia. Our ODI team is on an upward curve, but it is still well below the best ODI teams like Australia, England, India and South Africa. However, the next few years should see us perform better in ODIs than the last few years.

We are getting demolished 5-0 in the ODI's and a only a miracle will prevent another whitewash for us.

This team is deeply mediocre and no foreign coach, new chief selector or dropping the TTF's will bring about any success in the short term.

Australia will be without Finch and Bailey. Could be a few new faces in the lineup and we should look to take advantage. Our fast bowling attack will be lethal and is being seriously under rated. Amir is absolutely quality in LO, we seen how good Wahab can be in these conditions during the World Cup and Hassan Ali has also impressed, taking the wicket of Root 4 times if I am not mistaken.

Par scores in Aus are 300+ and if you have Azhar scoring 'big centuries' with a strike-rate of 70-75 you are looking at around 130-150 deliveries swallowed up out of the 300. And given Pak batsmen, on their good day, if lucky, they will be lucky to barely reach 300 or high 200s which Aussie batsmen would laugh while chasing (lets not even get into Pak chasing 300+ scores)

My perception about Azhar has changed after the current series. He was under tremendous pressure and PCB chairman,s statement in middle of the tour did not help. But he faced all the pressure in and out of the field with great courage and I won't be surprised if he proved everyone , including me, wrong about his leadership skills.

Honestly It was always going to be 5-0 in the tests, a 4-0 was a good result, and yes an ODI series win will be more than enough to make up for a series which was lost before the series started,aus will be very worried after their show today, they bowled poorly too and Malik was amazing

ODI team needs a good captain more than anything.

Unfortunately Hafeez our best captain is the worst batsmen when opening and his ego doesnt let him bat below 3.

Pakistan team will not improve in ODI unless they learn to chase 250 plus.

The 220 took nearly 50 overs to complete.

Any score above 250 is too much for Pakistan at the moment. It almost seems like Pakistan is banking on bowling the opposition to less than 250 to win.
