What's new

Will you still question Babar Azam's power-hitting ability?

If it pains you so much, you can open a “least favorite posters thread” and I guarantee you that my name will be mentioned numerous times, perhaps more so than it was mentioned in the favorite posters thread.

Some people like me and some people hate me. That is okay with me, we all have our preferences.

However, a “neutral” poster who always says the obvious things, tries to sit on the fence most of the time, strives to make balanced comments and fails to evoke any sort of emotions in other posters, he or she has no worth as a poster.

I am happy with how people view me, good or bad.

So are you admitting you post these strong views just to get a reaction?

I post these strong views because I don’t worry about my reputation and what people think of me. I am not here to make friends or enemies, and I don’t see the purpose of holding back so that people view me favorably.

Manish pandey would have batted like the second coming of Viv Richards against this non existent bowling attack. You guys could have waited until he does this against a half decent bowling attack before jumping to conclusions.

His lack of intensity and passion is more disappointing than his lack of power. He hardly cares when he is dismissed, and when he is in the middle, he doesn’t give the impression of a hungry young player who wants to be there badly.

Very poor and negative body language. Yes it could be deceptive, there could be fire in his belly that he does not show to the world, but we cannot see what is inside him; we can only see what he projects, and he has a very discouraging vibe.

oh yes! I forgot you were the non-striker when he made his last hundred. It is very easy to say stuff like he has no hunger and has a bad vibe when watching from a television. Do you want him to cry when he gets out. Different people have different mental set ups. Quite an immature statment

But do you genuinely believe them or do you just say it for attention?

The power hitting ability has nothing to do with the bowling strength. That's an unnecessary condition.

I believe them that is why I use his platform to express my views. In real life, if I speak about Pakistan cricket, politics, religion and India in this manner, my life will be in danger.

I don’t hold different views in real life, but I tone it down considerably.

That is true to an extent, but there was no power-hitting on display either. He hit only 2 sixes in 76 balls, and made full use of the poor bowling and fielding.

As long as he can bat at a 100+ SR, sixes do not matter.

He is yet to prove that he can do that against top quality opposition. He needs to learn to pace his innings better.

He is 23, his best years are ahead of him. He is the only Pakistani cricketer who was properly groomed. He is also fortunate to have Mickey as coach. I had no hope from Waqar but Mickey will produce at least 2-3 world class players by the time he leaves Pakistani team, easily the best coach since Woolmer.

I agree with this. But he has to learn to rotate strike from the get go.He has the ability to do well against top sides and I hope he does so in the future.

He is remarkably consistent, almost always scores in shorter formats. His game is not perfect but he will eventually get there.

Against aus he scored his 1st 50 in 77 balls and he is 2 nd in 31 balls when he scored a 100

It’s about power hitting & not the opposition 🤦🏽*♂️ Any opportunity to troll lol

Sure. Because hitting some nobodies like Richard Ngarava and Donald Tiripano is the same as hitting Starc and Cummins. Well done

This acceleration doesn't mean much against this Zimbo.I am waiting for such a knock against top teams.

There was arguably no pressure on him when he got around to scoring that second 50 because his slow start had effectively batted us out of that chase of 350 odd

He is world class for sure. He can be the Pakistan Kane Williamson, who himself is one of the top bats of this generation.

I'm not worried about power hitting. I was more impressed with the good balls that got hit for 4 ( over extra cover and past short third man) and the hard running between the wickets.
The 6 hitting will come

So one inning against a minnow, and he's done it all!

The boy is a terrible T20 batsman, I still don't think he can play in the shortest format, leagues.

He's good at no.3 in ODI's, let him be. Stop comparing him to the likes of Kholi and de Villiar, he's hardly won a single match for Pakistan.

Who's comparing him with De Villiers and Kohli?

Babar is a finesse player. Like Rahul Dravid. Power hitting is not his cup of tea. He may score a few big ones occasionally. But he is a class player and he should remain that way.

Pak has enough big hitters now in Fakhar, Sharjeel, Asif Ali, Talat and Rana Sobers.

Babar is in the mould of Williamson. There is no need for him to become a power hitter, but yes he needs to improve on that front.

But Pakistan is blessed to have a player like him, because after Saeed anwar I haven't seen any Pak player who was/is reliable.

Fakhar
Sahibzada
Babar
Asif Ali

That's a good top 4. Fakhar, Sahibzada and Asif can be hitters and Babar holding on to one end.
