Not sure if it was a fluke, you don't win 4 knockout games in a row for it to be considered a fluke...

Although a stronger case can be made with regards to Wasim's whole career being a fluke...

It's because when a team becomes champions like that they show that in their performances in the matches to come and our team has not looked like anywhere close to that. This was a fluke since we have not been consistent and we have not been consistent because we still have lots of inconsistent players lead by mediocre leadership who got lucky to grab that trophy only for yelling behind thr wickets.

We really need to boot out some players and kick out our captain and start fresh. This team just doesn't have enough skills against good teams.

A match is not a fair coin toss that the probability is 1 in 2. Probability 101: If there are two outcomes, the chances of either need not be 50:50.

All our players hit a purple patch at that time. Hasan Ali, Fakhar, Azhar Ali, Babar. You always knew that it wasnt gonna last especially with a middle order trio of Hafeez, Malik and Sarfraz. Winning 4-5 games in a row isn't a fluke. Overall even since the Champions Trophy the game has changed a lot. No longer can u afford a batsman who scores in single digits or 10 odd runs. A batsman must get atleast 30+ at a 90 SR these days or u just cant get wins. Most top teams are able to do this but Pakistan cant.

A team like Pakistan winning a tournament also devalues the prestige. We made a complete mockery of the Champions Trophy with the way we played before and after the tournament. We entered the tournament as a minnow, fluked our way to the trophy and started to play like minnows again. That is why England or India winning this World Cup would great for the ODI game. They are the top two sides and will remain the top two sides irrespective of what happens in the World Cup.

Agreed. Personally I think the Big Three should get automatic byes through to the semi finals with the 4th team being decided with a qualifying shootout between NZ and South Africa. The winner of that would automatically be given 4th place in the tournament, while the Big Three play each other in a round robin format to decide the finalists. This way you would get worthy winners every time and avoid future fluke wins by 2nd rate teams devaluing the tournament.
