Who will be the fastest bowler in World Cup 2019?

This world cup will feature some fast bowlers like starc, Rabada, Fergusen, bumrah, cummins etc. Who will be among them the fastest. Or will we have some surprises like srinath who was the second fastest bowler in the 99 world cup.

If Hasnain is selected then from Pak he will probably be the fastest unless :amir3 finds his fire against Ind.

From Ind. I think it will be Bumrah who in my opinion is the only real contender from India for fastest bowler spot in WC.

From Aus unless Starc finds really good rhythm again it has to be Cummins. If Starc, Cummins, and Hazlewood stay fit for the majority of the tournament Aus can perform pretty well.

From SA Rabada? Lungi Ngidi is also pretty quick because young years and all but Rabada has the real pace in my honest opinion. Steyn might have a good tourney like last time but nowhere near his pace 4 years ago especially after coming back few months back from being injured for over a year.

For NZ it's probably Ferguson with Boult providing Back up, Southee never really had the pace and also got injured late last year so not sure if he will be in good form for the WC.

For BD, I haven't been following them lately so no idea. Maybe the Fizz?

From the Windies has to be either Taylor or Alzarri Joseph. Could be either one of them as both have found their mojo in the ENG series so will be exciting to see them.

From ENG, I don't know. Unless Jofra Archer is selected then no Englishman really threatens any of the other fast bowlers in the tournament. I guess Tom Curran will be one of their go to pacemen in the tournament but he barely touches 140 on his day and I think something like 30% of the balls he's bowled in the last 18 months have been slower balls so it's not like he's striving for pace. England might pull a surprise selection with Mark Wood after he also found some pace and form in the Caribbean in which case it will be interesting to see how he performs.

Who am I forgetting?

SL will probably have Lakmal as his spearhead but they don't seem to have the pace bowling stocks or the bench strength to build a strong pace battery. They have decent seamers who on their day can win them matches but no out and out fast bowler who I am aware of. Correct me if I am wrong please.

So yeah, personally I think that with Hasnain being young, raw, and bowling with real heat in PSL, he might be one of the quickest, possibly crossing 150kph again on a day for him.

Otherwise it's either Starc, Cummins, Archer or Wood (if either is selected) one of the Windians, and possibly Rabada. Bumrah can also sneak through.

Ferguson. No contest. First real speed demon since Tait.

Also have Bumrah ever hit 150 kph? He doesn't belong in this thread.

Bumrah did bowl some 150+ deliveries in Australia. Fastest was 153kph iirc.

If Ferguson plays he will bowl above 150kph consistently.

The real question is who is going to be the best bowler at the World Cup?

Fastest in term of fastest delivery recorded or fastest average speed?

Btw OP probably created this thread to get in Srinath somehow:)

What i said is will it the usual suspects or someone Surprise us ala srinath in 99 world cup.

Could be Oshane Thomas as well. For PAK, it’s most likely Wahab. I don’t think unless Hasnain does something special against AUS, he’ll go to WC. In fact, I am not sure he’ll start against AUS either - since he has won MoM in PSL final, now it’ll be tough to drop him on inexperienced quota.

Bumrah consistently hovers around 85-90 mph and his quickets deliveries are around 92 mph.
153 Kph must have been an error.

In terms of Average speed, I think it's going to be either Cummins or Starc.
for the fastest ball of the tourni anybody could step up, we could be having a nobody bowling a rare quick delivery.

I have a feeling Hasnain will hit 155 kph in the World Cup if he is selected.

The guy is bowling slower than wahab and you think he would beat the likes of Cummins and Starc.

This is going to be an open contest. We don't have one extremely express bowler. Every team will have atleast one bowler who might be the quickest.

Why Burmah in this list , he s very good bowler , one of the best currently but not an express one .

Wahab if selected can bowl the fastest ball.he did it in 2015 world cup.he bowled 154.5kph ball in that world cup.lockie ferguson is another one who can do it.

The guy is bowling slower than wahab and you think he would beat the likes of Cummins and Starc.

He did hit 151 kph which was the fastest of the PSL.

Even in the PSL final his avg speed was above 141 kph and that comes down because of slower balls as well.

I dont remember Cummins and Starc averaging 145 kph or above in any of the matches.

I think if selected it will be one of the young guns in

Thomas
Rabada
Ferguson
Hasnain

Anyone can produce a list of 5 likely names. Let's stop fence sitting and make a pick.

Ferguson will suffer an injury or freeze up to control line & length- nope.

Hasnain might not even get a game & isn't truly express yet- nope.

Rabada will have pressure to lead the attack & I think Oliver was quicker before he jumped ship- nope.

Thomas could do it, but I haven't seen enough of him- a risky nope.

Starc is quicker than Cummins most days & loves a white ball. He is down on confidence but has been there & done that in white ball cricket so has the experience to produce & still physically capable- he's my best bet.

The won and only Mitch Starc.
Wait for another masterclass performance from the Champion.

Ferguson or Hasnain on average since they will be out there to prove that they have some serious pace. ALL OF AU bowlers are pretty seasoned and will use all of their skills utilizing Eng conditions to cause damage.

Hasnain on the list but Bumrah should not be.

One is bowler who has hit 90mph plus in tests ODIs T20Is for sometime and hit 153ks in Australia.

Other has just played a handful of T20 games in league and hit 151 once.

speed isnt everything. Direction, swing, brains and skill matter a lot as well.

Im sure there are many people who can bowl at 170, but it will be a random ball- either a wide, or edge for 4 or 6.

Husnain is probably not going to get a game or even get selected

Bumrah is a wonderful bowler but I don’t think he has any chance of being fastest unless starc,Cummins, rabada, Ferguson, milne, wahab end up missing the World Cup

Bumrah has a shot at being highest wicket taker but on same speed guns he is not going to beat above mentioned bowlers on pace

Ferguson. He is the only fast bowler I've seen who can consistently bowl 145+ in a whole 10 over ODI spell.

Ferguson probably. As we're only talking about potentially one ball that could be the fastest of the tournament, then your dark horse could be someone like Bumrah or Mark Wood even.

Hasnain probably won't make the World Cup squad, so him being mentioned is a far-out wish to be honest.

Can we have a video or a screenshot of that spell where Bumrah hit 150+ kph? From my memory, Bumrah hasn't hit 150+ kph yet.

I don’t think Bumrah will get many wickets, but he will probably have the best economy rate, very hard to put away unless he misses his target. Fine bowler who is 50% of the Indian team, the other part is Kohli of course.

Has to be either of the following :-

1. Oshane Thompson (WI)
2. Mark Wood (Eng)
3. Loki Ferguson (NZ)

If I have to give one name though it’s Oshane Thomas all the way.

He is the quickest by far right now.

Should be Ferguson. Starc could be second. Oshane and bumrah could push third. Whereas for Pakistan, Hassan Ali would be our quickest provided hasnain is not selected.

On average pace it will be Starc and it won't even be close considering the speeds he's Been bowling. I think he averaged 147 kph over an entire test innings recently and sone think he'll be second to Ferguson? Not a chance. Starc will be the fastest bowler this world cup just like he was last time.

Hasnain has not played a single ODI yet and he has been already hyped as the fastest in the world.

mohammad hasnain clocked 95 mph against afganistan in a practice match.bumrah an exgagerration .he is not even fast.

So he hit 153 kph against Afghanistan...

Do you still think he won’t be able to hit 155 kph in the WC?

The fastest ball will be delivered by Lockie/Archer/Wood/Hasnain but the fastest on average will be Starc by some margin as well.

Definition of "fastest" needs to be made clear here.

Hasnain bowled 152.5 kph in the warm up if he plays in the official match he can match others pace.Kagiso rabada will bowl the fastest ball maybe even lockie and wahab can crank it too.

Consistently- Ferguson, Bumrah
One off- Hasnain, Wahab, Archer
Bumrah's average speed is lower than Ferguson, Rabada, Starc, Hasnain, Archer and Wood.

They showed a statistic telling us as much.

I believe either Starc, Ferguson or Hasnain will bowl the fastest delivery.

I think it can be anyone from Starc, rabada, furgison, Husnain, Wood, Archer, and Wahab. there are others who have decen pace but they are not extreme pacers which includes the likes of Shaheen, bumrah, shami, plunket, steyn (now a days), Ali, Cummings etc.

In televised warm up world cup matches who has bowled the quickest delivery ?

Has anyone bowled quicker than Hasnain's 152 kph delivery ?

What have been top speeds of Wahab, Starc, Cummins, Rabada, Ngidi, Bumrah, Ferguson, Thomson, Gabriel, Wood and Archer etc ?

I think that was quickest in the warm-ups but Hasnain wouldnt be playing any game at WC that I am sure about

I can imagine it will be one off Pakistani bowler who bowled some 150+ delivery on his way to concede some 90 runs in 8 overs or something.

Actually no, Hasnain clocked 152.2Kph against Afghanistan and no other bowler has beat that speed yet. Interesting as he was consistently clocking 145Kph-150Kph in his initial spell. The ICC website has hawkeye confirming the bowling speeds and from what I have seen, no one as of yet has clocked that speed. Contenders are in my view to top the bowling speed charts for the world cup are as follows -
Hasnain - Pak
Wahab - Pak
Bumrah - Ind
Shami - Ind
Oshane Thomas - WI
Gabriel - WI
Ferguson - NZ
Steyn - SA
Rabada - SA
Ngidi - SA
Starc - Aus
Cummins - Aus
Wood - Eng
Archer - Eng
Not sure if there is a world cup speed threat yet ;-)

Hard to judge who will be the quickest but here are the contenders
Hasnain - Pak
Wahab - Pak
Bumrah - Ind
Shami - Ind
Oshane Thomas - WI
Gabriel - WI
Ferguson - NZ
Steyn - SA
Rabada - SA
Ngidi - SA
Starc - Aus
Cummins - Aus
Wood - Eng
Archer - Eng

Oshane Thomas isn't playing?

I think he's the quickest of them all.

Hasnain can easily clock 155kph. Saw him bowl 152kph delivery during PSL with very slow runnup & arm movement. Its up to him, if he targets 155+ then most likely he will hit it.

How is Oshane Thomas bowling in this match.

Top speed?

Hasan ali averaging 90 mph in his first over
Amir is genuinely a medium pacer now

Expected Oshane to hit 150ks

Disappointed.

But he bowled a great spell

If you really want a 90mph bowler, just let Hasnain play then. Ferguson is a spray gun but he's playing so let Hasnain play as well.
