Surprised to see Amir. It seems like he really bend his back to bowl the 145 kph ball.

Wish we can somehow fit him in the eleven. He would be my choice in place of Hasan Ali.

Yeh I was thinking the same thing. Maybe against Bangladesh and even Australia as they struggled against the short ball in last matches?

Shame mitch, Malinga and steyn have retired

Also missed Adam Milne and Steven Finn from the last wc

Miss the days when Shane Bonds 154kph was barely 4th fastest after Shoaib, Brett Lee and Sami at the 2003 World Cup.

This has to be error of some sort. Aftab is medium pace trundler from what I seen last time.

Wood and Archer are both very, very quick. Can slip it north of 150k easily. 153k in this game so far.

End times when English bowlers are the fastest in the world

End times when English bowlers are the fastest in the world

The world has flipped on its head.... India and England have the fastest pacers going around :))

These two countries used to produce army of trundlers

Indian bowlers are not faster than Pakistani bowlers on average

Actually for the last 2-3 years Indian pacers have actually been much faster then Pakistani pacers. Current squad you have Bumrah who is a 140-150kph bowler, Bhubaneswar who is 130-145kph & Shami who is 140-148kph bowler. There are already a number of prospects in their domestic side bowling at 150kph. So just appreciate the boys across the border have now got some decent pace bowlers 👍🏽😁

I think average pace (minus obvious slower deliveries) is a much better stat than the fastest delivery one. You could a much better idea of how quick one is bowling consistently. Its a pity Espncricinfo or any other source doesnt keep a record of that

From first 3 overs in the opening spell for each bowler, Woakes bowling average was 135.2k and Archer was 143.8k.

None of these bowlers are real 145k bowler, let alone 150k. Even Archer average speed was 143.8k in his first 3 overs of opening spell.

Bumrah 141k
Shami 140k
Bhuvi 134k

Seeing archers, wood's top pace I guess if Hasnain is given three games atleast he might bowl one or two deliveries at around 155 kph. He is 18 years old and touched 95 mph against Afghanistan without much effort.

Given a fast track and freedom to bowl as quick as he can, we might see 96 mph from him.

143.8kph average pace is very quick. Might not be Shoaib, Lee, Tait level but never the less Genuine pace. Shane bond was also similar pace

That was probably at the mid of innings he bowled at those speed at the back end of innings

Got it yaaara. Thanks.

It was shocking indeed. Makes sense now. There is no way Bhuvi could be faster than Wahab lol. I can expect Bumrah

Can someone with better understanding of pace bowling explain to me how Stark can touch 160 and bowl at an average of 150 in some matches while here he has barely crossed 150? Is it because he is bowling within himself or do you just feel better on some days?

That 160 kph from starc was an anomaly so probably a speed gun error he’s not in the same bracket as Akhter, lee or tait pace wise

Imagine if Archer never made it to the wc squad. Would have been a very boring cup without him.

That list is inaccurate as both Gabriel & Rabada have clocked in excess of 150 kph in the tournament (I have collected all of the below info from all World Cup Matches on the ICC website) - below list is updated after today’s match between SA & NZ

As a Kiwi I am so disapointed in what has happened to Amir, he really was special and was the type of bowler who would get into a spell and get fired up and bowl faster and faster and the next ball after a wicket would be his fastest (Bond, Shoab,Lee were also the same)
He used to have the X factor and could bowl genuine pace, but is now just a medium pacer.

Also Locke seems to be down 5kph in top speed, but overall on average he is getting faster, in some of his overs every ball was over 145kph, where as before he would lose pace
I would really love to see him given a go at Tests, his first class bowling stats are very impressive and suggest he is a better first class bowler (test) than his list A (ODI) record.

How do you guys think he would go in tests?

I remember him averaging 150-153 but then you’re right his speeds would tail off to 140 ish. Deffo can be an asset to the test team.
If you really want to do a comparison though it’s not related to speed but wickets taken and both Amir & Ferguson at at the top of the charts this World Cup in terms of wickets taken

Wahab was quick today, average speed of 142 km/hr which equals Starc's tournament average.

Just want to see Hasnain in for Afridi next game. He will make the top 3 easily

This is a better statistic, to see whose consistently faster. Not a surprise it's Starc. Mark Wood's pace seems a bit strange, somehow doesn't seem like he is as quick as the speedometer indicates.

depends on who would bowl more slower balls which Starc doesnt bowl many
