Too bad this match got washed out, but who do you think would have won had it taken place?

In my opinion they are evenly matched sides on their day, but India has a slight edge. It would have all boiled down to how the openers on either side would have handled the other's bowling attack.

My verdict : India would have won, but only after a fight. What do you think?

NZ and India are equal in terms of strength. It could've gone either way. Washout was probably better for NZ though (because of superior NRR).

You have got to be kidding me, right? NZ is decent but most certainly not as strong as India. India and England operate on different level.

India started as favs and most probably would have won all they had to do was seeing off Boult's first few overs. We are the stronger side which is why we defeated them 4-1 last we met.

We saw what happened during the warm-up game. NZ always brings their "A" game during big events.

Yes. I would say India and NZ are equal during global events.

NZ barely can chase 240s well. India would’ve smashed 320-340 against them batting first. Nz most likely have lost by 60-80runs

Sorry can't take you seriously anymore since you brought up a warm up game to prove your point for crying out loud while conveniently forgetting that we defeated them comfortably at their own den 4-1 very recently.

What A game you are talking about again? How many trophies have they won with their A game? India and Australia are the only two teams that has a history of raising their games significantly during big events.

Anyways you are entitled to your opinion I guess.

LOL, we beat them 4-1 at their own den.

India is a good match up for us, I would prefer to play them in the Semis and Aus in the Final.

England is too loaded and I don't fancy our chances against them. Aus would be favorites, but I would want them in the Final to avenge 2015.

NZ and India faced each other 8 times during ODI World Cup events.

NZ won 4 times. India won 3 times. One was no-result (this World Cup).

NZ also beat India in 2000 Champions Trophy.

I rest my case.

on one thread you're not sure about NZ reaching semis but here you are absolutely sure about beating India... What kind of logic that..?

I don't think we've played that well, if the others can find some form maybe we can make the Semis/Final.

Nothing is a given, but if we're in the Semis I'd rather take India than England or Aus.

Beating a weak India of the 90's is proof of A game? Kaha se late ho itni insights bhai?

Anyone who says India, a team that won pretty much every trophy cricket has ever come up with, is equal to a team that won basically nothing of note bar a CT isn't worth taking seriously.

Stop coming up with strawman arguments, you never had a case to begin with.

PS: I have utmost respect for NZ cricket, they are always a force to be reckoned with despite having so little population and that too with cricket being not so popular there.

Topic is not about who won what. Topic is India vs NZ one on one. NZ clearly wins that part statistically. Winning a meaningless bilateral ODI series is irrelevant. Even BD whitewashed NZ not long ago.

Also, I don't give a rat's a** if you don't take me seriously.

Was that away from home?

Point is, NZ should've won that series.

NZ has a habit of losing random bilateral tournaments. They lost to Pakistan at home too (T20I series, 1-2).

They white washed Pakistan at home, 5-0 in the ODI series.

Nz has two hacks in Guptill & Munro. Only quality is Williamson & Ross, apart from these two none of them can play quality spin.

On the other hand Trent Boult is the most destructive if the conditions are cloudy like the warmup game, but apart from him the bowling is pretty average.

I would bet on India against NZ most days.

Obviously India. In flat tracks India would have racked up 330+ and unleashed Kuldeep and Chahal, game over fake Kiwi ka Angrez :djb

Guptil is not a hack, hacks don't score 237 in a World Cup Quarter Final

If Boult would have done the damage early on to the Indian top order, then that is a way NZ could win, else I don't see NZ winning against India anyway.

England will also struggle vs India if it is a knockout. Australia can be real contenders though if met in semis or finals.

India. Given that how they thumped them in NZ. This was on their bathroom sized grounds. In bigger grounds they will be exposedbadly by spinners.

India. New Zealands openers are not in great touch. They are far too reliant on the Williamson- Taylor duo to fire.

We will find out in the Semi Finals or Finals.

I want India to face either England or Australia in the semis. It is better to face tougher opponent in the Semis itself. Usually teams that face easy opponents in knockout matches tend to lose their next match.

E.g.
1. 99 World Cup Semifinals, Pak faced NZ whereas Australia got par much stronger South Africa.
2. 2003 World Cup Semifinals, India easily defeated NZ whereas Australia faced much stronger Sri Lanka
3. 2007 World Cup Semifinals, Sri Lanka defeated weak NZ while Australia went past a strong Strong South Africa
4. 2011 World Cup Semifinals, Sri Lanka beat NZ whereas India was tested by a strong Pakistan.

So, it is good to face a strong opponent in Semis. Better to go into finals with real self-belief rather than with delusions of grandeur.

They will see off Bolt like they have seen off Cummins and Amir. After that, it should pretty much be a sleepwalk for the rest of the game.

Williamson's brilliance is the only thing that could potentially stand in their way but I suspect it would be too much even for him.

If kiwis bat first, get to a total of 260+, then I would back kiwis to win the game against India. India middle order is exceptionally weak and raw and doesn't get exposed enough. When it does within the first 15-20 overs while chasing, then we lose the game.

2003 India defeated Kenya! :))

Hacks do click sometimes, like Fakhar Zaman in CT 17. Doesn’t mean that they are not hacks

Fakhar is a hack, Guptill is a proper bat.

If you think otherwise, you need to educate yourself on Cricket.

Munro is a hack

If India face NZ in semifinals then forget about final.
