They asked for it & they got it.
Pakistan has once again, out of absolutely nothing, summoned the spirit of The Cornered Tiger in yet another World Cup.

Hats off to this crazy cricket nation.

They just never go down without a fight.

Much respect!

NZ don’t have it in them to hold this @Aman It’s game over for the Kiwis i am sorry.

Lol, all this on the basis of Pakistan beating Bangladesh?

Bangladesh don't count.

Pakistan has lost to Afghanistan this WC and have received hammerings from India and Australia. The team choked badly against South Africa.

We have no spinners, two of our pacers cannot bowl outside the powerplay and our batsmen struggle when asked to bat a modern rate.

Bro let’s be honest, after the last two matches things have actually become interesting.

Pakistan looks reenergized while NZ who were 4/4 at one point seem to have hit rock bottom. They’re in tatters bro , I don’t see them holding on here.

Fasten your seatbelts because it ain’t over.

@MenInG This is for you brother.
The World Cup is well and truly alive!!

More like timid kittens have arrived.

NZ will probably win both of their remaining games.

Another false dawn for us we missed two glorious chances AFG by wrong selection of players and then against Saffers, wrong selections and poor captaincy

Cornered tiger has been losing strength and hope for years now, but in the last two matches there have been signs that the virus has been identified and rot maybe getting treatment. A weak tiger is still a tiger by nature, and if he smells weakness in his prey it is possible the dormant muscles will flex and the teeth and claws will come out.

Fans who had lost hope are now wondering if a resurgent Fakhar and a 4 pronged pace attack can put the glint back in Sher Khan's eyes. The world will be watching.

Pakistan is the ultimate momentum team in cricket.

All it takes is one game for them to turn a tournament on its head.

Everyone is praying, because pakistan is incapable of playing a tournament without giving their nation a heart attack.

I must say it’s always a roller coaster ride for you guys.

What a crazy cricket nation.

Pakistan team is the ultimate troll in cricket.

The scariest and funniest thing at the same time is they can still go to win it all 🤣🤣🤣

Lol, my main team is Australia and NZ. Pakistan is my 3rd team.

I'm Pakistani biologically but fully aussie at heart, so I'm not worried that much.

I still want my teams to qualify but ik it won't happen. Aus will qualify but one of my teams either pak or nz must qualify at the expense of another.

I'm okay with either one qualifying tbh, I prefer NZ due to being more competitive but ik Pakistan has some weird stupid dumb luck to qualify somehow. Happened in 1992, 2017, happened in 2022, might happen again 😂😂

Babar fans are delusional. Haha! 🤣

Beating NZ by 200 runs. Come on man!!!!

SA and India are already in.

Aus is most likely in with 3 matches still to go and only needing 2 points.

Nz, pak and afg have a shot for 4th spot.

Nz winning 1 game means they qualify for 4th spot.

Afg need to win all 3 for 4th spot or atleast 2 wins by very high margins.

Pak need to win both games to qualify.
And hope afg doesn't win all 3.

Ideally, pak would like NZ vs PAK to be the virtual final for semi entry.

Pak chances are now 25% or so.

By addition of fakhar and Wasim jr Pakistan teams looks solid. They should have play like cornered tigers and beat newzealand and hopeless England. It's not over yet for Pakistan. After today's defeat NZ confidence will go down.Common Pakistan go for kill

Pakistan need to win 2 out of 2. Difficult but doable.

Pakistan now have a better chance after NZ's 3 defeats.

Afganistan under the wiley away jadejaaa may hammer newzeland and may be in contention for semifinal spot.

Afghans already lost to them at Chennai by a big margin. Afghan has OZ/SA left besides Netherlands.

Also, I think Pakistani fans will give a lot of support to Netherlands if they qualify for the CT in Pakistan. I feel a lot of love for them for knocking out SA in the T20 World Cup and giving us the chance to make the semi finals. We repaid the favor by winning the game and giving them automatic qualification for the next WC.

This pak team was celebrating a win against the Dutch with a cake cutting ceremony that’s there standard. They ain’t got it in them to beat even a 10 man nz team mentally not there with a flop captain.

What is this favour mentality? Teams are not playing to benefit others, people here need to realise that. Everyone talking about how NZ needs to do this or SL needs to that. After winning their games, the other teams aren't going to roll out the red carpet for Pakistan to waltz into the SF. Pak needs to take matters into its own hands.

Right now it is partially out of our hands. Even if we win all our remaining games, we still need some things to go our way in order for us to qualify. But this is true for a lot of teams still fighting to qualify.

True. I guess it just hurts me every time we have to play the "if x wins and y loses" game... But I guess that's the nature of Pakistan, keeps you hooked to the very end like an addict.

Agreed brother. We are really hurting from not winning the game against Afghanistan or finishing the game against South Africa right now. If we had just won that game, our path to qualify would have been much clearer

We destroyed them in back to back series earlier this year.

The real problem with this team, bigger than our habit of letting spin bowlers ravage us and fielding poorly is the mindset. What I'm saying of course doesn't apply to every current player but most.

Most Pakistani cricketers nowadays do not come from a strong background. It's like its done something to their psyche. The minute things start looking bad these guys go into their shells very quickly, they look visibly confused and scared while its just business as usual for other teams in their ups and downs. You can call it a lack of professionalism, or lack of mental strength. I think it starts from their backgrounds.

A good example of this is how Pakistan reacted to Hassan dropping Mathew Wade. There was no tactical time wasting to give the game a pause, no discussion. Just watching on the friend it felt like Pakistan had already submitted right there, instead of trying again.

However, the moment they get over that they suddenly look like world beaters. CT '17 is a very good example of that.

This World Cup could play out the same. Pakistan will definitely need some luck to beat NZ even with all their injuries right now but I am certain there's no going back after that. Total snowball effect.

Decades passed but the legend & the spirit of the cornered tiger lives on. Cricket’s most feared entity !!

You nailed it right there bro. Imran Khan came out before the toss in the showdown with a t-shirt telling the world they were facing a cornered tiger. We have a potential killer tiger in the cage here, but is there a leader who will wear the shirt to inspire the cage break?

It's too early to celebrate. Both for the ones who want Pakistan to reach the semis, and those that don't want them to.

As much as i admire Pakistan cricket, i am also at the same time extremely envious of the fact that only they are capable of conjuring the cornered tiger spirit and make such astonishing come backs half way through hopeless looking tournaments.

For Bharat, England etc when we are done, we are done.

But Pakistan is never done until the world is over.

Pakistan making Ming boggling come backs at the business end of the tournaments as the rest of the world celebrates their exit.

Absolute hate it.

I think it would have to be a collective effort in the obvious absence of a towering personality like that of Khan saheb.

Coaching staff have to get the best out of the boys. With most professional appproach.

Pakistan invoke Cornered Tigers spirit because South Africa crushed New Zealand and Pakistan have beaten only Netherlands, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh in their 7 matches.

I see we are still.clinging onto these myths. That team was an awesome team having a bad tournament..this is a bad team having a bad tournament.

I would've waited till Pak qualify for semis before making this thread.
This could backfire.

I have to keep rewatching the South Africa vs New Zealand match last night to make sure Pakistan wasn’t playing. Some people think the proteas are a surrogate of Pakistan and their performance reflects Pakistan’s supposed resurgence.

It’s almost like this isn’t the same Pakistani team that got hammered by India, Australia and even Afghanistan on a grand scale.

Pakistan is out of the tournament. Enjoy the last two matches. No need to harbor grand delusions of qualifying for the semifinals.

That team had Imran Khan’s leadership for sure, but this team overall pretty much matches the 1992 team and is probably even better

Pakistan just need to give their best and play positive cricket, rest of the things their fate will decide because its looking almost impossible that they will through to semis.

They should have gone with 4 pacers right from start.
They should have had 5 pacers in the squad.

India would love to play Pakistan in semis because they can crush Pakistan but they have a very sketchy record Against Aus, NZ and SA in semis.
V true. I wouldn't want to face Aus. Nz is bit tricky too for us. Even SA, with that pace attack can cause serious problems if they're bowling second. Whereas with Pak, you know what you'd get.

One thing about this pak side compared to previous sides is that you know exactly what they're gonna do. They're quite predictable, whereas the past sides were unpredictable/inconsistent. Ind would happily prefer this Pak side than the current SNA sides, esply Aussies.

So the 1992 cornered tiger circus joke again...

Correct me if I'm, wrong on the sequence of events. A talented team playing the most important tournament of the calendar finds itself on the verge of being knocked out of the tournament, owing to a string of bad performances. One evening its dashing captain delivers a 'cornered tiger' speech and everyone gets inspired. They set aside all their lethargy and are transformed from a bored and misfiring bunch to world beaters overnight, and they go on thrash everyone and win the tournament. Right?

Cornered tigers LOL.

Sorry fellas, but even a C grade Bollywood producer can come up with a better storyline. I'm surprised that Pakistanis have sworn by this drivel for almost two generations now.

I feel what must have actually happened is that the talented Pak team of 1992 must have thrown away its preliminary matches. Match fixing was prevalent even then, particularly in Pakistan. Imran Khan must have decided to act and get tough. His cornered tiger speech must have been more on the lines of 'get your a$$es in line , m**therfu**ers, or you'll spend the rest of your sorry lives frying chapli kebabs on the streets of Lahore'.

Cornered tigers LOL.
To be very honest, Cornered Tiger story is the biggest exaggerated story that has been told. The story is exaggerated because internet did not exist to point out the time lines.

Cornered Tiger line was used in the 1987 world cup. Pakistan lost in the semi finals. Imran retired eventually. Later years, Zia convinces Imran to come back, and than he uses the cornered tiger spirit again, and his team wins the world cup

Well even if babar wanted to wear it - he can't due to the icc marketing regulations!😂
Or else we will see shakib with Bangla tigers shirt, sl with Lanka lions shirt, rohit with spinning charkha shirt, Butler with 3 lion shirt etc.. it will become a circus literally and figuratively lol 😂😂

Bhaijaan- I know you like pumping up pak chances but bro let's be a little realistic lol ! This Pak team qualifying for the sf will be nothing short of a miracle.. 🙂

No tigers without a leader . This is not a team rather a bunch of friends gathered by a money hungry corrupt selector .

See
Let us hope the tigers get mauled by kiwis on Saturday.
The more probable headline would be - The kiwis birds consign the cornered tigers to their cornered territory lol 🙂

Pakistan can win against newzealand and England...but looking at srilankan teanlm how india crushed them,I can't see them win against newzealand. But all we have to believe in quadrat ka nizaam

2 to go

Just give it your everything
The fan support is very important

If Pakistan plays like how they played in the warm up against NZ they will thrash them. NZ and Netherlands are obviously the most strategic sides in this WC. Pakistan is strategically one of the worst in the world cup. So Pakistan needs X factors to step up.

Totally different people in the set up and totally different team.
Really don't understand how the saying is applicable today when half the guys in the team weren't even born when we won the world cup in 1992.

But as long as it gives the team some motivation I guess ?

What we do know are the facts which are:
- Pakistan are looking better last 2 games. Nearly won against an in form SA side and comprehensively beat Bangladesh
- New Zealand are in a bit of a slump loosing their last few games and in the last game got a bit of a hammering.

So NZ moral must be low and Pakistan high.

Chances are Sri Lanka wont beat NZ so we will have to win by a pretty big margin.
Possible but unlikely.

The way I see it, when Pakistan team is on the upswing, they usually accomlish the unlikely. I think we will be able to tell pretty quickly which side turned up. I think if we win by 40 odd runs, we can continue to hope for the boys to make up the rest in the game against England and then hope that SRL does not lose very very badly to NZ.

When it comes to cricket very very strange things have happened. Just think about what happened in the last T20 world cup and us making the final. One can continue to hope. Let us back the boys to continue this upswing and hopefulyl wash away some of their bad performances at least.

If there’s a million Pakistani fans, I am one of them.

If there is only 1 Pakistan fan, that fan is me.

If there are no Pakistani fans left, that means I am no longer on earth.

Pakistan cricket till the bitter end.

QkN Mode Pakistan about to go on a win streak to the gold now, In Sha Allah.

Preaching to the choir brother.

Pakistan always and all the way.

It's coming home. 30 years of hurt doesn't stop me dreaming ✨

Here is something funny though, if we lose and dont make it to the semis or lose in the semis or the final these voices here will simply get amplified by a factor of 10 .. we will see 10 different threads along the likes of "I told you so!!" blah blah.

But if we win or make the semis, some of these guys will either disappear totally or continue whining for one thing or another.

ghalti koi nahi maaney ga ... such is life on the cyber space and the life goes on.. koi aur a jaye ga and we will have people complaining of that person within a few days. Waz is absolutely right about our nation. hum wehley log hein, hor koi kum karan noo nai. bus rotey raho

Please tell me who are the tigers from the current crop of players?

Who are these inspirational cricketers, these strong characters ready to take on other teams singlehandidly?

I don't see them.

After losing 4 in a row we're finally connecting and hopefully with four seamers should definitely blow away the opposition
