Let's be honest, does Asif EVER perform in these side games lol?
it was his 10 for in a side game vs England that brought him back in the team against India...:asif

Have you forgotten Panesar, Herath, Harris, Harmison, Pathan all make the Pakistani line up look silly at times. Pakistan like to give nobodies a career boost (in fact, that's been their selection method recently). :bhanja

my man m hafeez played brilliantly
i m not afraid about asif.... sure he will comeback soon inshallah
i need one change... plz fire the s buttttttttttt

Yeah, he was fighting for his place at that time but he's become a rock star since then.

This is strange. Very strange. WI had a disaster of a world cup as a host, and this time their 92/4-from-20-overs teams are being provided to warm up with. I mean, 92 all out would make sense suggesting that they tried, but this is almost as if they didn't care.

I hope we don't end up with another comedy show.

one shouldnt take things for granted especially when his place in a team is in danger..:asif

(in t20s i-e)

I take it you've never met/spoken to :asif..
He's confident nay arrogant in all his abilities and worth in the team. Which looks bad to some but probably helps his own game.

yeah,I too was shocked to see 92/4 in 20..It seems they were just there to provide practice to our team..had no intent of winning it...Poor stuff this from Windwardians...

yeah, but what about lack of penetration in our bowling? we only took 4 wickets against a club eleven? that worrries me..

The thing to notice is that, spinners did well and not the fast men. So, I'm now more worried about the game against Bangladesh than Australia. Australian doesn't handle spinners that well and they have packed their bowling with fast men. So, BD is a threat as far as I'm concerned. I have no issues with our batting or bowling. The only worrying part is 11 wide balls though.

u are right bangladesh got quality spinners.. that makes me worried.. :(

i 've never doubted his abilities, for me,he's the most talented bowler in the world atm..But in t20s,we are not certain whether hes gonna play or not because there's tight competition amongst the bowlers..And the combination will be such that there wont be many pacers in the side..So,he should've done a lil better today..

Maybe but he's proved himself to be excellent with the new ball almost whenever he's played (i.e his first 4 over spell in any format is usual spot on and tough to get away) so if he bowls those 4 on the trot then he should trouble a lot of openers.

That middle order looks weak and if afridi doesn,t fire we will struggle.Umar is all hype no substance in this format and fawad will slow things down.

In t20s ,main aim is to restrict the opposition and to keep a check on run rate..as long as you restrict the opposition, you shouldnt worry about the wkts..Windwardians,it looked like, were just defending and avoiding the attacking shots..In the end its good performance by our bowlers against a test-esque t20 side to pick up 4 wkts..:afridi

And that is based on?

I agree with you Rameez, bro. Bangladesh have some really solid spinners and knowing that we have always had trouble against left arm spinners, things could get a little hard for our batsmen when we face them.

Anyways. Let's hope we start the tournament firing on all cylinders. We desperately need to do so.

agreed, with all the disappointments aside,I back him to do his job efficiently ,,he'll be still in my team against BD...:asif

Still one more warm up to go. I'm sure Hammad will get a chance in that game. :)

I would bring in Hammad in the next warm up (which I'm sure they'll do) but I'm not sure his bowling is up to international standard, probably as useful as Fawad Alam's at this level. If he can get into the team as a batsman alone ahead of Misbah (avg close to 50 still?) then it'll be a big achievement.

Based on watching him play for 6 months and giving his wicket away every time and based on his T20 record of slowing things down and then throwing his wicket away(one game aside).

Umar has done well against SL, won them the 2nd T20 Vs NZ. During the Aus game, iirc, Pakistan had collapsed and he tried to rebuild with his brother (fair to say that he played a dreadful shot in that game though). He was out of form against England.

I think it's a bit early to judge him but you're right in that he's certainly not proven himself yet.

He's done very well in 2 matches so basically we're judging him by 4 matches. Great.

And he hasn't done anything to make us write him off either, like some people have.

have you forget 5 wicket of blignaut against pak,all are top order wicket.

Did you happen to beat us after that memorable (for you) 5 wicket haul? Or was the result the same. a Zimbabwe defeat?

Because I honestly don't remember. Oh and in how many games a Zimbabwe bowler has taken 5 wickets against Pakistan in total history?

Umar akmal is a talent who could go on to become a top player but some Ppers start comparing him with Tendulkar. Now Tendulkar was a special player even at 16 and we all knew he will become an all time great and being a pakistan fan I hope Umar becomes an all time great but do I expect him to become one?I have my doubts.

from the scorecard, I'm liking the way Shahid has handled the bowling options...all of them in there making strong contributions.

Omar Akmal will be just like his brother or may be Salman Butt. He is a 35 average player. Here on this board they have made him a super star. If he could do as good as butt, I would say it will be a miracle.

So how did Mr. Afridi get out, another brain **** shot?:)) Anway well played. Bring the cup home..

Do you like any Pakistan player?

Overall, good practice for Pakistan. Hope to see Hammad Azam and Mohammad Sami. We need to test them before the series begins.

I think it might be the lighting, Afridi's hair looked it's natural colour in the press conference.

I wouldn't mind a return of the 05 blonde locks though!:afridi

Afridi use to be my favorite till he started chewing balls
YK use to be till he went fishing and started to drag fans
Moyo use to be till he became captain.

I don't have any individual favorite anymore. However as a team I support each and every player.

Guys talking about another guys blonde locks just doesn't sound right. Don't understand why so many guys here are obsessed with his hair? :afridi

I'm not bothered either way, just said I don't care what hairstyle he has. That said, I wouldn't be against a mullet on Ajmal or Kamran sporting a Mohawk.

relaying some info:

the windward islands were desribed as having 'holes in their bats' as they batted against pakistan.

many of their batsman playing and missing at almost every delivery, looking absolutely clueless as to what was being delivered to them, particularly against the spinners

had much difficulty reading the spinners, an almost spineless and pathetic response to the pakistan bowling. crowd was very disappointed.

^ Pretty dissapointing stuff from the organisers. Sounds (And going by the scorecards) as if it was internationals Vs clubbies. Would have been better to replicate the last Warm up format where players in different prelim groups go against each other.

Well done Hafeez, we have high hopes from you, and I really hope Misbah is back in 2007 form.

nobody is obsessed with him or his hair but his are obsessed with his talent, skills, passion, style, and afridi-ness.

whats even more disappointing is apparently this windward islands team was like a 'windward islands C' team , missing a good 3 of its so called 'better' players.

not snide, just the fact. I criticize the politicians in power also but I love Pakistan. So, what is your point?

You make pathetic comments about players over and over again. Just cut them out, mate. They're not funny anymore (eventhough you still laugh at them). :)

I have a suggestion, don't read my post. Truth hurts. And there is no smile either
