Every cricket website one opens, front page articles are related to the IPL having an official window in the ICC Future Tours Program.

Now, here it also shows the ICC's bias, if they want to give the IPL an official time slot on the calendar, then shouldn't "all" players be eligible to play? Since it is now apart of the international calendar. (Before someone comes in and says, oh they are eligible but no one is picking them, that is pure rubbish, and we all know what the reality of the situation is).

Feel like the ICC is not considering the rest of the cricket world, the majority of foreign players don't play this league, only a select few do. What fault is it for the others who won't get a chance to play any cricket?

It gets an official slot as it is the premier tournament where everyone who can be considered a good t20 player barring Pakistanis earn big money and it already had an unofficial window of sorts given boards earn money if their players play in IPL, no other tournament does that.

USA won't be huge in cricket anytime soon, but some USA players already play in CPL. It's not a stretch to see them producing an IPL quality player within 10 years assuming ICC keeps working there.

Do you really think growing a sport in a country with a lot of other sports is easy, fifa have been trying to make football a big sport in us for i don't know how many decades and that is a county with a huge mexican and european population who are very much football fans, its got nowhere yet, and you think in 10 years they will have great cricketers coming through, this whole china and US to balance BCCI is a pipe dream.

Again, there a whole country that is NOT allowed to participate. How is that fair to those cricketers? Is it there fault? There are more than 80 foreign players in the world (~70 foreign players were signed in 2017). Feel like it's discriminating against those cricketers who don't play in the IPL. This is not BCCI's fault.

As i said it is not an official window, icc isn't offering that it is just that bcci seems to have got all other big members barring england to not play bilateral cricket during ipl and they seem to be convinced that even ecb will follow suit, so where is the discrimination, the boards have agreed to it, its just that it is more beneficial to some than to others.

This didn't just happen now. It has been building up to this since 2008. Teams not having tours in the time, or only having the tours at the tail end of the IPL.

It just shows that IPL is ready to expand even further and that more teams will be participating in it soon enough. A good thing in general for world and Indian cricket, a bad thing for Pakistan as they are now well away from the cricketing gravy train.

This also offers an opportunity to PSL and someone must analyse if it can run parallel to the IPL. It's primary market is still Pakistan with almost zero broadcaster outside of the territory. Someone with the business acumen and ability is required to shepherd through this phase.

Owners got disgusted with PCB's attitude and stopped bidding for PCB's players. If you or any Pakistani player has any gripe it has to be with PCB.

Oh please, Pakistani players playing in the first edition of the IPL. There was initially some friction there but ultimately now it has come down to the GoI and BCCI not allowing Pakistani players to play/come to India. Greatest bias out there, I mean India can play Pakistan in ICC tournaments but not anywhere else?

Now that they will have a window I think they need to reconsider and stop blindly supporting rubbish claims by the current government. Without getting to political, they are using the current situation to prop up there support in the country with extreme patriotism. Need to learn to not mix sport and politics.

Oh bhai, its very easy for us to say. Imagine, talented cricketers from Pakistan are missing a fortune by not able to play IPL. When you have a career of 10-15 years and in that duration you have to make livelihood for whole life and you keep missing those opportunities and less talented players make much more than you, then people like us will be able to understand.

I’m hoping the mood among the masses is not anti-Pakistan. From what I see on social media, news reports and independent journalists most claim they want Peace with Pakistan. With many not having an anti-Pakistan mindset.

As for players, Amir, Hassan, Shadab, Rumman would all be popular in the IPL. Umar Akmal, Shoaib Malik and Shahid Afridi only other players I see with a chance of making it.

I’m hoping the mood among the masses is not anti-Pakistan. From what I see on social media, news reports and independent journalists most claim they want Peace with Pakistan. With many not having an anti-Pakistan mindset.

I hope what you are talking about is a minority.

As for players, Amir, Hassan, Shadab, Rumman would all be popular in the IPL. Umar Akmal, Shoaib Malik and Shahid Afridi only other players I see with a chance of making it.

Having Peace with Pakistan doesn't mean getting all cozy and friendly. Im from Mumbai and have friends and family there, based on that i can say mood in Mumbai is anything but Pakistan friendly. We do not want war or harm each other, just we want nothing to do with Pakistan.
Sadly, social media is minority, not every Indian used social media. Most Indians are Modi fan boys and his Anti Pakistan stand is quite popular among masses. Im fine with current status quo as long as no War breaks out.
I just want peace but no show off friendship that shoved down our throat during 2004-07 period.

Umar Akmal will never make it to IPL. His behaviour can be bothersome for IPL owners, why go for someone who can act stupid at times plus he hasnt really done anything of recent that attracts bid for him. Rumam or any other decent Pakistani bowler can sure make an impact.

Afridi might get a contract for his past reputation and will be used mostly for cheerleading. Apart from him, rest of Pakistani players have slim chance of making into IPL.

That’s sad to hear really.

As for Umar Akmal, he seems to perform in domestic tournaments and t20 tournaments, that’s why on that basis he has the capability of being selected
