Had Pakistan qualified, given the pitch and the rainy conditions and the form Pakistan was in towards the end, would they have went to WC Finals?

In these conditions, we would defo have posed a challenge. Our bowlers were on red hit form.

No.Pak batting would have collapsed. They have one batsman.Ross taylor and KW are both top 10 batsmen with vast experience.

If they had won the toss and batted , yes .
what's the point though , both teams are out.
India will be dissappointed with their choke jobs in the last 5 icc tournaments.
Pakistan with a pretty average team have managed to win 1

People underestimate the pressure and difficulty in chasing in these games.

I think lot of people here are missing out on NZ fielding which was just marvelous. In our case even after 5/3 we would drop some sitters, miss easy run outs to hand India game on platter.Just like SA brainfades against India are essential part in our WC matches against India

Yes they had the momentum and the proper changes were made to the squad compare to the first India vs Pakistan match

more than toss I'd say it was Williamson captaincy, his bowling changes and the way he kept it cool till the end. So now the question if it was Kohli/Sarfraz would it be the same?

Amir was getting his banana-swing back and Shaheen his mojo.

Babar, Haris and Imad were in great form.

But I’d back the team to win who ever chose to bat first.

I dont think so ...New Zealand is an Better fielding team than Pakistan and newzealands fielding has won them the game.I hope we will as a team improve our fielding in the future so that we can become a consistent cricketing side.

Win the toss, win the match!!!
Forget pakistan, bangladesh, west indies, SA, would have all won, if they batted first, just like india would have won if they batted first.
The same thing will happen in the final. Whoever bats first will win!!!

Pakistan were starting to gather momentum like in 2017 CT. No reason we couldn't have won, but toss would have played a big part.

I think Amir, Wahab and Shaheen would have decimated the top 6 of Indian lineup

Pakistan's cowardly fear of losing to India would have again come into play. India would have beaten them convincingly once again... I am glad New Zealand Made it to the semis and Knocked out India.

We lost to India on the same pitch and we had cloudy conditions then. I don’t think we would have beaten India.

I think we had a very decent chance actually. Pakistan were looking better each match, India were declining. And on a slightly tougher pitch where we wouldn't be so much at an disadvantage, not forced to go for 300 etc., all we'd have to do is get Rohit and Kohli out. And Rohit was probably due a failure, he's been insane this tournament.

In NZ vs Pak, the NZ's bowling looked extremely good, it's just Haris and Babar put on a really good batting performance to chase it down.

India would still be favourites but to say no chance is a bit of a push. We beat the team that beat India, and we've beaten the same team in CT finals too. If India had an offday just like they did today against Pakistan, for sure we'd have a good chance at beating them. No Dhawan in the side makes them so much weaker.

With the form we were in and in a knock out game I would back Pakistan to beat any team in the world...
No sensible person can say otherwise.

I think Pakistan would of had a good chance
Also people saying win the toss win the match are wrong about this game ,
The pitch was a lot harder to bat on in the first innings

Nope but I also didn't expect them to beat South Africa, New Zealand.

Pakistan would have lost. Badly. But it doesn't matter because Pakistan did not make it there.

Probably not but I’m excited for next WC when these youngsters are more seasoned.

Anyone who thinks this WC was a failure is wrong. We were on the doorstep with a young squad.

New Zealand's epic fielding played a big part in their win today so I doubt Pak could defend much at such a low total with their mediocre fielding.

Only if we bat first.

We choke against India normally but the pressure of chasing in a WC SF makes mince meat even of legends.

I think Pakistan would've won due to the fact they were on a roll.

Pakistan is very dangerous when they have momentum.

Knowing our luck, we'd most likely lose. We're 0-7 in world cups to India, the curse is legit.

To be honest with you, Pakistan's chances of winning a trophy increase dramatically the further they get into the tournament; their shortcomings are always due to bad starts and having to make up for them which makes life tough for them and not as tough for others when it comes to qualifying. India tend to do their job properly one game at a time and tend to win a lot in the group stage, they're not an invincible juggernaut so they will have nerves in knockout stages, I've seen countless times of Indian players that have succumbed to pressure in knockout games but they're good enough to win trophies which they have.

Pakistan wouldn't have scored above 200 on that pitch. As simple as that. Would Pak restrict India to sub 200 too and win the game? I doubt it.

India would have won. Irony is that India deliberately lost to England to put us out of the tournament. They would have had a better chance against Pak in the semi's then NZ.

Even if they batted first, Pakistan would've struggled to set a defendable total on that pitch. Though it would've been close I think India would've won in this hypothetical scenario.

When Pakistan are on a roll like they were 4 wins in a row they are next to unbeatable so yes we would of defeated India.

I'm not doubting the Pakistani team's ability, it's more to do with choking against India in a knockout.

I don't think they would "choke" Pakistan only choke when their backs are against the wall against India they had to win after an abysmal showing against Australia, and a washout. If the India match had happened straight after the England win then it would of been a different story. Pakistan are a team that are hard to stop when on a role.

Pakistan would lose by 8 wickets or by 150+ runs. They lack big game mentality and would fold vs india without a fight.

Nobody knows and nobody needs to know either. its a past that never happened.

Lol you mean like the win vs Afganistan which required rediculous umpiring decisions?

Pakistan would most likely have neekly folded. They arent big game players and pakistan lack heart in pressure situations

Good for you fortune teller.

Yes
That's why they lost to England.
SF was lost either way, no matter who the opposition

Yes. Pakistan have the batsmen and the bowlers to thrive in those conditions but most importantly, they had momentum behind them. Whether batting first or second, Pakistan would have beaten India.

On a sidenote; Pakistan have comfortably beaten both World Cup finalists in this tournament and unlike Australia, did not go on to lose against one of them. So much for all the crying and whining on the part of the fans, eh?
