Would Pollock and Ashwin have became genuine batsmen had they applied themselves in Tests?

Both were very good timers of the ball and had decent technique.
Problems were simillar
1. Slow running between the wickets.
2. Lack of match situation.
3. High risk game.
What could have been their batting averages had they applied themselves better?

This is subjective question. We can never know.

There have been instances where people have not worked hard or not taken batting seriously, these two are not first ones.

yeah why not.

Batting is all about hard work in the nets and thinking as a batsman.
