So if he had stayed in Pakistan, would he have been able to make it to this Pakistan side or he would have stayed at domestic level? and which format?
And would he have been able to keep his place in the team?
He has shown glimpses of a real good allrounder as far as LOI's are concerned. His bowling is really nifty. Can easily do the Mohammad Hafeez job in LOI's, has shown at times to be a really good finisher as well, although his batting leaves a lot to be desired. But what stands out for me is his composure against spin and the positive vibe he brings to the Zimbabwe side. Plus in Tests, he has started to come good with his 3rd inning century against SL, and some under pressure recent fifties in Tests as well.
I still remember when he debuted against us in 2013, he looked very calm and assured against a peak Ajmal and co but afterwards he lost his form or whatever in the longest format. He was tried as an opener in LOI's but was later pushed in the middle order in 2015 which has brought him some success. He sort of fills the Shoaib Malik/Hafeez role in LOI's, someone who is flexible in the batting order and can provide 7-8 tidy overs of spin in the middle overs.
I feel he would have been able to make it to the LOI teams especially when Hafeez was banned from bowling from 2015-2017(start) but not in the Tests.
What do you guys think?
