Would you rather have a time machine that can only go back in time or one that can only go forward?

Lets admit it - we have curiosity but we also have a desire to look back and wonder if we could change some of the decisions we made in life!

So which time machine do you wish for, and why?

Ahh a very tricky question.. But, I would like to go forward in time. Past is past. Let it be.
I want to see what the future is like, how much technological progress we have made further.. and look into the future.

No kidding, there's actually a movie on this..:yk

Thumbnail makes it look like a raunchy movie, but it's not.. Ending is quite sentimental even:mv

Would say past but due to this pandemic, I want to fast forward 3-5 years.

Back to the future movies addressed both sides of this conundrum - some interesting outcomes!

I would go back in time to fix as many past mistakes as possible.

Also, I would say 90's was pretty awesome.

Past is interesting but the future is infinitely more so, just imagine the possibilities. You get to see what humanity has accomplished in a hundred years, a thousand years. Given the exponential rate of technological progress, it won't be a world we recognize, even in a 100 years.

Backwards is only interesting to me is because it might be the only chance to move back, if it's a magical time machine. In reality, time travel to the past is most probably prohibited by laws of physics. Whereas we can already move forward into the future, just not far enough but we will get there eventually.

The past. It shapes our present and much of our views and culture is based on interpretations of events in the past.

future, id like to see how humanity turns out, so id keep jumping 3 or 4 years, spend a few weeks in that timeline to get up to date with developments, then repeat. hopefully in i could jump lets say 40 years per year this way, i could then do maybe 1000 years by the time im 60.

hopefully by then significant age extension technologies are present than i can keep going, if not ill settle around the year 3000, formalise my diary into a memoir and spend my old age ilving off the proceeds 1000 years in the future.

is there any purpose to this? not really, but itd cerntainly make for an entertaining experience.

if this was practical 99% of people would look up the lottery numbers or stock prices and cash in and better their lives. All this I will change history, culture etc only sound good because we all know it’s only a hypothetical scenario with a 1 in a billion chance.

It’s an amazing end but again he had to experience traveling back and having that power to realize what he realized.

Scenario 1)
have a warehouse of Kalashnikovs and lots of bullets, enough for an army.
go back and forth in time to 1780s, transporting said arms and ammunition
present said weapons to Tipu Sultan himself.
????
prevent the creation of British India and the creation of India by proxy.
install a new Islamic Dynasty in Delhi instead.

Scenario 2)
have ICBMS and weapons platforms, lots of them
time travel with them to 1947, at time of the first India, Pakistan war.
gift them to Jinnah
no need to elaborate what happens next.

in short, time machine going back in time>>>>>> time machine going forward in time.
