There's going to be a vacancy that needs filling soon and while Mickey is currently under contract with Sri Lanka, I have a feeling that if he was offered the role once again he would take it.

He wanted to continue in the role and was disappointed when he was removed as Pakistan Head Coach.

Would you take him back as Pakistan Head Coach?

No, I don't think it'd be wise for the PCB to go back to Arthur. The process to remove him was flawed, but results certainly justified the PCB looking elsewhere.

Definitely. Easily the best coach we had after Bob Woolmer. Gave guys consistent opportunities, saw the development of many key players into the side, built an entirely new team from 2016-17 onwards and most importantly, was very well-liked by the players.

He made some tactical blunders but then again who doesn't make mistakes?

I feel like he gets unnecessarily blamed for the team's performances. When it was the team itself that was to blame for things like capitulating to West Indies at Trent Bridge, which ended up costing us a semi-final spot. On other occasions like the 5-0 drubbing from Australia, Inzamam as obviously to blame.

Even PCB shared blame for the way they handed the Rixon situation which remarkable unprofessionalism.

Arthur though was always a top-level coach who had a vision. It was just that he happened to be working for a third-class organization with no vision, structure or professionalism.

Have highlighted his mistakes (Based upon my opinion) multiple times so wont go over them again but, in short his W/L ratio was under 1 in test as well as ODIs. Two home series test losses vs Srl and NZ were really hit his reputation in Pak cricket. Without those two series losses he would have had a chance for extension I think. Yes in T20s performances under him were great.

While the procedure of firing him was not great but, performance of team under him was pretty ordinary other than T20s and CT 17 win, without anything memorable to right home about.

So no, there is no reason to have him back. Yes if PCB is going to appoint worse coaches then one can obviously argue but, Mickey isnt the solution as under his almost 3 years tenure Pak rarely competed with top 3 sides across the formats (As mentioned except T20s and an exception here and there).

Everything else aside, in the end what matters are the numbers/wins and they were pretty ordinary under Mickey irrespective of how we want to see them.

He will show zero self respect if he goes back to the PCB, he was emotional and vented about the manner in which the PCB refused to extend him any further.

He was rightly let go on merit. Over rated coach.

Would take him any day; But given PCB allegiances with the government ; its not good idea to bring any new coach now (We have election next year, any change in govt. and we see everything in PCB top to bottom except Dinosaurs getting replaced in a moment)

Mickey loves developing young team into something better to reckon with;

Has already started to shape SL , after all those controversies..
Remember , it is still SL B team that has beaten SA (A team barring DeCock)

Watch out for SL and their mystery spinners in WT20..they will be doing lots of upsets

When has Mickey actually executed this idea.

If resources allow we should be thinking about separate coaches for limited overs cricket and tests. I am not sure what difference they would make but as everyone is hell bent on having them, have specialists for the formats.

Wouldn't want to see us becoming canon fodder in Tests at home/UAE again.
Before anyone talks about "his vision", I hope no one forgets the whitewashes by NZ, Australia(in UAE) and England.

If you need a coach at this level, then Pakistan should stop playing cricket. Pakistan needs a good strategist who can communicate in the language of Pakistani players and who is good at managing players and motivating them more like a strong father figure. I would not mind if the roles of Saqlain Mushtaq and Razzaq were extended. I see Razaaq has that calm and collected personality who can read the game situation well and prepare plans accordingly. Same with Saqlain Mushtaq. Pakistan won the world cup in 1992 without any coach . His name was just on paper.

Hate to break it to you but it's not 1992 anymore.

Huh? That is factually incorrect. He never vented or made a fuss about his dismissal. He showed disappointment and a little bit of surprise, but never made a big deal out of it. He even had good words to say about Misbah! Why are you making up things?

Pakistan is facing slim pickings when it comes to candidates for the job. Mickey would be a huge upgrade even with all his faults.

Just recently, SL B team has beaten SA (A team) in SL 2-1 in ODI's
If he does even decently and somehow manages to reach semis in WT20; SL will not release him for sure

And there in SL he is working with Tom Moody (who is also Mickey's big fan)

It should always be a Pakistani coach with coaching credentials. They can mix in well with local players and can be a father figure to Pakistani players. No language barrier. No mindset issues. Get over this colonial mentality. Always need to hire a foreign coach and somehow he can transform 11 players into world-beaters. Saqlain Mushtaq should be given an extended rope, to be honest, and see how it goes.

I know you have as but that's a lie.

No. I would much rather Mohsin Khan return. He did well during his previous tenure.

Yes, because this has worked out so well for us in the past.
