Wrist slitters/Pessimists please report to this thread to eat humble pie

I think Zedman, Amjid Javed and a few others need to eat about 20 pies each.

Don't forget the realists, the rationalists, the true intellectuals who know more about this game than Brearley, Waugh and Lloyd combined, the 'I predicted this would happen when I was 3 months old' types and many others!!

At that start of the innings I totally expected a loss , but by the time Farhat was out I was pretty confident of victory

Zedman, where are you?! :p

To be fair, Zedman owned up in the "We are going to get slaughtered in England" thread. At least he showed up unlike many others who ran for the hills with their razor blades and Australia worship mats.

Have to admit I was nervous and a bit skeptical, partly due to our flaws while chasing and I was pacing around throughout today's play but well played guys!

Zedman and Cheguvera are the 2 biggest pessimists - I await their presence in thsi thread

Listen, Pak was not expected to win , with this weak batting line up and mental state, the past performances and results only lead you to conclude the worst, theres nothing pessimistic or wrist slitting about that, its just the dismal reality.

They pulled of one of those unpredictable wins (after 15 years) against Aus in a test match... thanks to the heroics of a couple of star bowlers...

Nothing to start bragging about, alot more hard work and improvement needs to happen, if they want to be a better test team

What is logical about believing that a team would lose after it has a lead of 170, and its bowlers had skittled out the opposition for 88 in the first innings?

LOL at 'dismal reality'. I think you need to re-evaluate your concept of 'reality' here bud :afridi

Nice owning up....not. Dismal reality. Hahaha

Reporting Sir! I never doubted them and I'm no pessimist ... I just like pie!

They said (commentators) you cant win with kids? What you say to that our boys showed no fear and fought like cornered tigers after all they are salman's young guns. I must admit they did have me panicking once malik had got out. IT WAS PANICSTAN LOL

What is logical about the a team whose 4 specialists batsmen collapse under the pressure of chasing 40 runs in 2 days :) :akmal:umarakmal:malik

Who was posting "DEAL WITH IT" "DEAL WITH IT" over and over again? i want him to report here. he was very annoying lol.

Hey im not afraid to say a collapse was in store and in happened right on cue, that was my head

However my heart wanted pakistan to win and im grateful and overjoyed they did

lol just visit the match commentary thread from today ... so many turncoats :))

We have way too many wristslitters around these days. I hope some of them can get over it.

Actually a few of us pointed out to dismiss Pakistan out of hand was ludicrous with such a dangerous pace attack. We pointed this out again and again to those of you Chicken Littles who compared us to Bangladesh and Zimbabwe.

Well guess what? We were proven right.

We ve only won 2 out of last 19 tests, thats roughly hardly winning over a 2 year period

do you think we are gonna be a positive bunch????

No, Zedman's fine, stop picking on him. He's owned up and has agreed he was wrong, so we'll let him off the hook. Just do something about WithLoveFromCanada please, he was getting VERY irritating.

DEAL WITH IT!

You aswell Paradox, no faith in Pakistan winning a Test match.

An answer to this, by the non wrist slitters would be nice !! :malik

So resigning yourself to a loss before you play with a new look team because of past performances is logical? Get a grip bro :afridi

I expected Pak to lose but was pleasently surprised by brilliant bowling by Pak and thick headedness of Ponting to bat first.

Go Pakistan!

I think they're deliberately negative, so as to get their hands on the pie :inzi

More a realist than a pessimist, mate. It's not going to be every day that Pakistan will bowl out Australia for 88 and we'll chase 180 against them in our fourth innings. :)

:))) :)))

Glad i never doubt pakistan, no matter who the opposition i know we can overcome the hurdle

I wouldlike some cream with my pie please

:)

Now that Ive owned up- please let's not get carried away.

Our batting is awful and Kaneria is a big problem. A spinner who releases the pressure when he comes on - his wickets are too expensive. And no Ajmal is not a test spinner.

Main issue is our batting. We will seriously struggle with this batting line up against the English.

Farhat is still not a test opener despite his 67 - but we have no other option so we are stuck with him.

But there isno reason to stick with Malik and Umar Akmal. Malik is rubbish.

And I hope that even the most ardent PP fanatics are now agreeing with me that Umar does not have the technique, footwork, temperament and shot range/shot selection to be a test success. Play him as an ODI and 20-20 player -he's a slogger. Afridi mark 2.

Please bring back Moyo and YK - even though they are not the versions of 4 years ago- they will do.Malik out.Umar out. Moyo and YK in. And then we can compete.

As for humble pie. Delighted to eat it.Delighted to accept I was wrong.

But I am right about Jnr Akmal, Malik and Kaneria.

Totally agree. Lets not get carried away with thsi win.

Our batting is awful.....
Main issue is our batting. We will seriously struggle with this batting line up against the English.

Again Agree with you that our batting was awful, other wise we would have won this quite easily.
But I think we have found a very good batsman in Umer Amin. For some reasons we(Pakistanis) are not very good at finding good batsman but this guy is very talented.Azhar Ali I am not too sure about, just another hyped up player.

Farhat is still not a test opener despite his 67 - but we have no other option so we are stuck with him.

No Brainer their. No one respect Farhat and no one ever will. His father-in-law & people who selected him are trying to convert a donkey into a thorough-bred....never gona happen.

Disagree that we dont have any choice.

But there isno reason to stick with Malik and Umar Akmal. Malik is rubbish.

Agree as far as Malik is concerned. He was rubish, still is rubish and I can asure you that he will remain rubish.

And I hope that even the most ardent PP fanatics are now agreeing with me that Umar does not have the technique, footwork, temperament and shot range/shot selection to be a test success. Play him as an ODI and 20-20 player -he's a slogger. Afridi mark 2.

I think you are little harsh on Umar Akmal. If he had played his natural game in the second inning the match would have been over long time ago.

Please bring back Moyo and YK - even though they are not the versions of 4 years ago- they will do.Malik out.Umar out. Moyo and YK in. And then we can compete.

Yes, please bring back Yunis and Moyo. But they should replace Shoaib Malik and Azhar Ali.

I really hope for Pakistan crickets sake, that we dont get selectors that think like you guys. Umar Akmal has played 6 test matches, he already has a 100 and some 50+ scores with an average above 40. And you want to drop him. He is still learning.

Even if we bring back Younis and Yousuf, they can only serve Pakistan cricket for a very short period. Dont get me wrong, I love both Younis and Yousuf and they should walk into our team eyes closed, but you have take into account what side effects that will have on the whole team now and the future.

You also want to drop Azhar Ali :S

He is playing in his second test match, and just made a HUGE contribution to winning against Australia. What are you on about. You could argue about Umar Amin, but eventhough he failed, I for one am convinced that he should be in the lineup.

I will not debate about Malik, because that is a topic that is just going out control. Some hate him and some love him. I for one am a big fan of his, and want him to be in the team, and I know we can debate this day in and day out, and we probably wont change our minds about his merits to be in the team.

People keep saying 'realist' more than 'pessimist'. The reality is right in front of you now. :yk

I am not a wrist slitter and cannot explain in words how much I was overjoyed. But lets not get too carried away with one victory. Ponting made a mess of reading pitch that helped. If he had asked us to bat...things would nahi definitely would have been different. Then also the fact that we lost 7 wkts chasing a minor total . If it had been just 30 odd runs more then ............. So ya lets not go overboard with one victory and lets not go over top if we loose in future

I think people are getting a bit overexcited here. You can't blame them for being so pessimistic. We hadn't won in 15 years and the Sydney wounds were still very fresh. I don't think there was not one of us who was not nervous during that last 40 runs saying please don't let it be again.

We won and its great but still batting is a huge problem for our team.

Ok, wait, Pakistan are about 250 runs behind, If malik and the tail can put on another 100, then Aamir and Asif can get 3 hatricks between them, that will leave us needing to chase about 150 in the 4th innings. What you say... we can do this Insha-Allah, come support our boys, shabash. :)))

Have you put the pie in the oven yet.. Im getting hungry :)))

You better wish none of that happens. :))

Anyhow, whoever said they're going to win every game (not that I've lost hope :p)? They're going to compete, and they're going to lose some, and they're going to win some. There are two teams playing after all. Your bunch assumes they're going to lose each one, and handsomely at that, no matter what the match situation etc is. That is what I don't agree with.

as long as the PCB and selecters make wrong headed and corrupt decision like leaving out the likes of Younus Khan but supporting failures like Farhat and Akmals there is no hope

If this over happens...the concerned players will be remembered and mentioned by every commentator any country in every match of every series of ICC for next 2000 years

You can keep making excuses but with YK in the side we were still collapsing for less than hundred against SL in SL.
Its not the selectors fault as much as our first class system where no real batsman emerge
