It was very humiliating to see Khawaja successfully execute the reverse sweep against Yasir on each and every attempt especially out of the rough. Yasir was clearly baffled and resigned at the end.

Both Yasir and the team management needs to work out angles, field placings to shut down that shot as that is Khawajas bread and butter shot, you block that shot he will be forced to try something else and hence will have to take more risks

Is this a serious thread??

The only solution to this is middle stump top spinner or flipper which he doesn’t possess. End of discussion

i dont know how many differnt deliveries Yasir can bowl because they hype around when he debuted was that he could ball 6 differnet balls in an over.

but seeing him over the last 1.5 years so far i can only remember Yasir bowling the normal leg spinner, the ball that drifts in (which he gets most his wickets from) and the straight one.

They did.

They put in a deepish gully which removed the option for the reverse-sweep.

Yasir bowled a googly on middle stump which resulted in Khawaja's wicket.

He does not need six different balls.

The current issue with him is that his leg-break is not turning as much as it used to and he is missing the bounce he used to obtain.

He eventually started bowling more over-spin which beat the edge a number of times.

Don’t mistake the non spinning leg break for the under spun flipper or the extra bouncing top spinner. He has neither and his googly is hardly there. He only really needs 3 confident varieties not six.

Yasir in his debut season from 2014 and 2015 was turning his leg spinner big. Watch his dismissal of Warner, Corry Anderson and Tamim Iqbal.

He is no longer turning his leg spinner big time and therefore more predictable with his gun barrel straight stuff.

I said he does NOT need six different balls.

All he needs is a turning leg-break and some bounce.

His googly does not spin well and his flipper is almost non-exisstent.

Yes I know you said he doesn’t need 6 deliveries and we both said he doesn’t have much variety ( of the big leg break, top spinner and googly type).

Perhaps he will show more in next match. He has had a long break after all

My Bowling Plan for Yasir:

Bowl regular leg breaks firing on the stumps. Then, just bowl a surprising quick flipper wide of leg-stump to the left-hander. He won't be able to reverse-sweep at those deliveries. Set the field open at mid-wicket and third-man which invites him for reverse-sweep. He will try but fail each and every time. Guaranteed. He will look to moving out of the crease for his sweep, but it will be too much for him. He will miss the ball, the keeper will collect it and whip the bails off. OUT! He's been stumped!

well now that is not gonna happen, whatever he bowls.

Drying up runs and applying pressure by bowling a good consistant line would help. Simple.

Khawaja at it again with his reverse sweeps in Dubai
