What's new

Yasir Shah takes 10 wickets on Day 3 as New Zealand end day on 131/2 after following-on

Yasir Shah is the best spinner in the entire UAE!

Good stuff.

This is currently our 4th highest partnership of the day.

Raval + Latham - 26 runs
Williamson + Patel - 18 runs
Latham + Williamson - 11 runs
Raval + Latham - 8 runs

Can't see NZ getting a draw from here. Even if they get past the score, they won't score enough for us to not to chase it down.

Pakistan could win this game today, would have thought that start if play?

Brilliant from Yasir - unplayable leg spin bowling from him. Time to bowl NZ out by tomorrow.

Who would have thought that yesterday with the amount of people on here moaning about the slowness of Haris and Babar 100s. Complaining we won't have enough time and 'we are playing for a draw'. All that talk gone out window all of a sudden :))

9 wickets for Yasir.

Taylor, Nicolls and CdG, Sodhi, Wagner and Boult all facing double ducks in one day.

Where is the SR Mafia? Can't hear you...

Like I said test cricket is played over 5 days so SR has little or no relevance especially when it is more often than not dictated by the pitch.

Great planning and even better execution - Well Played Pakistan!!

He's still crying in the Haris thread.

The strike rate mafia is in state of shock

or perhaps waiting for T10 to start in Sharjah.

Your batsmen weren't facing Yasir, they were facing Patel and Sodhi who have combined for 1 wicket between them in 61 overs.

Yasir has 11 in 14 overs.

And some people were criticizing just now that why follow on has been taken. well they are also silent now.

I still think follow on was not the best idea! This wicket will get worst and worst.

Wow wow wow...just woke up and saw the score. Yasir is back!!!!

We're 313 behind, there's a better chance of us losing tonight than there is of us somehow making Pakistan bat again.

Just hoping the next match is on a flat pitch and we win the toss, our batsmen are completely useless against spin. You might as well have a PPer batting.

SR Mafia cried themselves to sleep

I am not a fan of enforcing the follow on. Even if we bowl them out for 100 I'd still say the same. Always good to let your bowlers have a breather.

Latham has been a disappointment so far. Was looking forward to see him play here in UAE. Always thought he could be a very good batsman in Asian conditions.

A bit more composure for Pakistan in the first Test and they would be looking to seal this series today.

We were handed that win in the first Test, Pakistan made a meal of it after having the match won.

This series doesn't deserve to be 1-1.

He's mostly been a disappointment since that series, he hasn't kicked on like you would expect him to and has regressed.

LOL at the replies Sarwar89 Speedster1 Chiefdestroyer

Think they've gone away to learn the game, expect them to busy until the next time Pakistan are in trouble...

Yes... It should be 2-0 to Pakistan...

Yasir needs better support than Bilal Asif and two part-timers.

Oh nozz guyzzz! Why aren't kiwis 4 down yet? Time to paniiiiic???!!!

After what happened in the first match, to follow on was a risky decision.

The pitch would have gotten harder to bat on as the days progress. Pakistan could have put them to bat tomorrow mid day.

Regardless of result here Imam, Hafeez and Asif need to be dropped.

Our bowling is gonna have to work hard here whilst their team have their feet up recovering for the next game.
Pitch would only get worse and we should have given them a proper run around before that, would have made the last inning job easier

Am still not convinced with the follow-on declaration. Pakistan might well win by an innings but they have needlessly allowed NZ a way back in the game - however remote that chance maybe.

10 wickets in day and didnt need umpires help like Anil kumble ;)

So basically williamson's wicket is worth 7 kiwi wickets.

Somebody has to ownership and stop these kind of reviews one day it will hurt Pakistan.

Well bowl Yasir, must have missed a master class.

In olden days, when they used to play on uncovered wickets, there was a term “sticky dog”, which is basically spinners bowling on a drying wicket and the clay gripping like glue. Today, Yasir probably showed a glimpse of that in a rain soaked wicket (no discredit).

I hope, this ends the debate of “specialist spinner” (& No 11 bat) vs “all-rounder spinner”, who bats at 8 for his 10-12 extra runs.

Am nervous about Pakistan having to chase a target. Especially when the wicket is turning

Agreed but the team management sure love their pseudo all-rounders who aren't good enough in either department to merit a place in the Test side.

NZ trail by over 230 runs.

I don't think you should be worrying.

A rest overnight for our bowlers and Pak should wrap this up tomorrow.
