What's new

Yorkshire vs Pakistan A | 26-29 June, 2016 | Headingley | Match Thread

Hasan Ali needs to make the batsman play more. Judging from the commentary, he's bowling too far outside off.

The key at Headingley is to pitch it full. There's always assistance for the seamers if overcast. Bowl short and it sits up nicely, its not the quickest of pitches.

Its a decent place to bat nowadays, Root and Bairstow piled on a massive partnership a few weeks ago.

One person clapping at that boundary - was that you Shayan ? :))

These BBC commentators are better than channel 9 and everyone from the subcontinent

What you talking about man ? He's mediocre & can only swing the rubbish domestic ball, isn't that right Hawkeye ?

Swinging the dukes at trundling pace isn't hard.

He's suitable for these conditions.

Babar should take these 2 off now and bring on Bhatti and Asghar. Nawaz is there as a backup option too

Btw these are all fringe Yorkshire players from what it looks like, with the odd 1 or 2 first choice players.

So this A side SHOULD beat them, if we lose this A series then it will be a huge cause of concern.

Commentators praising Pakistan A a lot, good to hear bar the drop the fielding is sharp.

BBC gets a lot of criticism but its a fantastic broadcaster. Every English county match has radio commentary minimum if not televised, compare this to the abysmal coverage of domestic cricket in Pakistan.

A team series coverage around the world is almost non-existent so I'm grateful we have radio at least.

I am not sure about selecting two spinners in these conditions(from all we have heard so far).I would've tempted to go with Saud Shakeel here in place of Mohammad Nawaz.A far better batsman than Nawaz and can give you 7-8 overs a day.Would've boosted our batting certainly.

Oh damn, just realized Saud Shakeel misses out

Oh my word, what the hell are you doing Bhatti. Release all the pressure why not.

Reminds me of Asif and Amir's no balls. Hopefully we won't see such nonsense this time around.

Bhatti actually bowling well apparently but is ruining it with a plethora of no-balls.

Pakistan A XI:.

Shakeel Khan, Jaahid Ali , Fakhar Zaman , Babar Azam* , Umar Siddiq , Mohammad Hassan, Mohammad Nawaz , Bilawal Bhatti , Mohammad Ashgar , Hassan Ali , Mir Hamza.

Disappointed to see Shakeel missing out. He should have played ahead of Nawaz. You don't require two spinners on seaming wickets. Saud shakeel is 10 times better batsman than Nawaz and also bowls some spin too.

Uhh I think against 2 mediocre batsmen we should have more wickets soon on a friggin green wicket.

Can't let this partnership blossom too much from here.

It is Sharjeel Khan not Shakeel Khan.. Auto correct function lead to this error.

Bit frustrating this as Yorkshire have recovered. On a green top you'd want more wickets in the first session against a young batting lineup.

Looks like batting might become easier as the day progresses and there's more sun overhead.

I see the plan, Babar is a genius captain!

All that flab bouncing around when Sharjeel runs in will undoubtedly distract the batsman :srt
Bowled a maiden so could be onto something here !

That's lunch. Play resumes at 1:40pm BST.

Cmon man give him some credit. Not the perfect bowler but more than a handful in these conditions.
The swing was good, but the pace wasn't high as some are claiming here.

Conditions couldn't be better for him.
