Surely Babar and other players have lot to improve.

But, how can a journalist be so unprofessional and with zero ethics?

You can't question that way.

You've have all rights to question, but that's not the way you question.

And, he's the only reliable batsman too.

wow, thats a shocker...he has made slower centuries before and today for most part he was above 6 RPO on a pitch which didn't seem like 350 but more like 300ish and with others failing all around him.

Yeah I saw the video. Babar was very surprised. His reply was " I do what my management tells me to do. I don't play for myself. If I hadn't scored my 100 the team would have been bowled out for less."
Pretty sad to see that we're treat our top batsman like this. He did however say that he's working on improving his strike rate.
Pakistani journalists just don't know how to ask questions.

shocking behavior. Even if he believes so, he can not put it forward this way to a player.

Somebody seize his press-pass.

Seems like whenever Mr Bobby or Mr Nephew score a ton we end up with a subpar score that the opposition has no trouble chasing.

Expected when the skipper Mr specialist can't bat.

Babar should have replied, “ it’s a statement not a question, and it’s y9ur opinion which u entitled to.”:shhh:cobra

I think the journalist was frustrated. He has a point. Babar is a good batsman but not a winner.

That was actually disgusting from the journo. Pak media manager or Comms officer should have a word.

Unfortunately majority of this forum has the same opinion but it is just sad to see the journalist attacking him like that.

Today he played well i feel and if you tell your only reliable batsmen on his face that he is a selfish player who plays for himself it must be so disheartening. There is a way to convey these messages and it is definitely not the job of every x,y,z.
Nevertheless Babar replied very level headedly,it would have angered any regular person but he took it in a calm manner.

Nothing wrong with the way the journalist approached it. Pakistan has been losing consistently for the last 2 years and has now lost to Afghanistan. Time for sugar coating and artificial pleasantries has gone. It's time to ask tough questions.

I am glad he posed this question. His question represents the anger and frustration of 210 million people.

Looks like the journalists in Pakistan are as unprofessional as the cricketers, no surprise there.

Babar's failing if there is one, is that he isn't a finisher. He might lack big hitting power, but another PP'er made a very good point that he could do more for the side just by playing proper shots to the end using the pace of the ball and clever deflections rather than trying to hit big shots which aren't his game.

That said, if he's a no 3 scoring a century then he's done a decent job. Find someone else to criticise, there is no shortage of candidates.

Something he needed to hear eventually. Not the time and place for it, and not by the correct person either.

But a similar combination of words were always coming for him, today’s century aside (I mean, it’s a warm up game...)

Pakistan just lost a match to freaking Afghanistan.... alarm bells should be going off instead people are concerned that a journalist asked Bobby a sharp question which was completely on point. Perhaps the wording were a bit rude and unrefined but can't say Bobby didn't have it coming. Today like countless times before Babar scored a ton at an ok pace and just when the time came to up the scoring rate and actually cash in he got out. It wasn't the first time it happened and definitely won't be the last time.

PCT should ban this guy from their press conference. Even had Babar played a selfish century in past, no one should tell that like this; and today he was simply fantastic. He is by far the best batsman in this team and the MVP, if team is to make the SF cut.

PAK was all out 13 balls earlier which though in a practice game, is a criminal offence - eventually this was the deciding factor of the game.

PAK sports journalism is going to the same route of cricket as well.

Babar got annoyed when the journalist called him out for being selfish. That's just not something you say to a cricketer. He should have asked him about his strike rate not about him being selfish. Anyone would feel insulted.

How many can they ban? Yesterday, we had this:

Look at Kohli's reaction. Lol.
What a dumb question.

Post this on your twitter please and let's see what people have to say about babar being selfish.

What was that?:)))

Ban this one first :ua

This guy is not a match winner. Doesn’t has the X factor

A team that has lost its last 11 games on the trott and has now lost to Afghanistan should not expect love and support from the public.

I don't understand why everyone targeting Babar, our best player. Blame Malik, Hafeez, fakhar, sarfraz,, imaad

Well let's replace him in the team with a match winner then. Don't know why Pakistan management didn't think of this.
Mind telling us if he has played a match winning innings so far in his first 3-4 years?

Such a disgrace the journalist is.
He was the only bright star in batting and you treat your best batsman like that. Journalist should be ashamed of himself.

Really?

Yes even I have criticised Babar of late, but today was not the time to do it. His individual SR exceeded the team SR by over 20% in today's game.

This journalist sounds like an illiterate mug, if you ask me.

There is a way of asking questions in a more diplomatic fashion with a better choice of words.

V good answer..Bobby won himself more fans , what a humble lad , No ego , not intimidated. Can’t believe his first cousins are the Akmals, Pakistan media manager should be fired

Yes. He scored a century on a very difficult track and had a brilliant partnership with Hasan ali against Srilanka when 7 batsmen were out for 100 runs. He took the team's total to around 220 and Pakistan was able to win that game easily on that tough surface.

In Pak, you only get criticized if you're performing. Lots of passengers in the team fly under the radar.

Well bad question or not but it was badly needed to put slow sr in the lime light.

But his strike wasnt slow on this kind of pitch. 280 was a winning score here, Pakistan got all out in 48th over. Remember?

In Pak, you only get criticized if you're performing. Lots of passengers in the team fly under the radar.

Its because the one who is scoring is expected to score all 300 runs by himself. It must be some kind of a syndrome that people only criticise the one who is most visible on the pitch.

I'd like or at least hope someone from PCB tells our players to take these stupid journalists head on when they ask stupid questions such as this one. Enough of being nice.

Hope this journalist has the same guts to ask Hafeez or Malik these tough questions.

Babar and Wahab were the only ones who showed up to play for Pakistan today. The rest looked disinterested.

In Pak, you only get criticized if you're performing. Lots of passengers in the team fly under the radar.

This is what happening take the focus away from underperforming players and blame the guy that scores the most runs.

Just hope the Mafia is away from the team..

Unfortunately the journalist is coming from the same bandwagon as others. Is the journalist aware of joe root and his SR. Babar plays a very special role in the team and that is anchor. Playerd around him need to up their game. We habe becoming absolutely inforgiving. Just imagine if babar end up losing his wicket like his cousin just for tHE sake of SR. We will be after his blood for losing his wicket so carelessly. Lets admire and appreciate the only worldclass batsman we have. Yes he is selfish but its his 100 that goves us 270-280 scores.

Very unprofessional and to be honest unwarranted today Babar played very well at a strike rate of above 100 The rest of the team were pathetic

Journalists like him who have no clue about facts and how to address players should not be allowed to question players

It's a bigger issue than cricket tbh, anyone who performs is supposed to do carry the burden of all the others.

Complete media black out - unless media houses educate their journalists proper business addressing, don’t allow two way conference. Sarfraz (or any representative), can read out a one way press briefing and leave the podium. This is absolutely unacceptable that players will be personally called names and humiliated in public by some idiots, taking advantage of their position of journalists.

The team has to be mentally incredibly tough . . Babar doesn't come across the guy who is mentally as strong as Imam ul Haq as an example . .
Imagine him batting in the world cup with this in mind . . uff!

Don't want to say anything about the journalist . . the journalistic morals and media integrity have already died in Pakistan! He is just a product . .

It was only a warmup.

Secondly babar azam is not a finisher and the sooner we realize it the better. IMO hafeez is best suited for finishers job but he is batting way too high for that. He should come after 30th over.

This journo should be banned. Not only were his views unfounded and out of context in relation to the way Pak's inns played out, he simply cannot be allowed to speak with such unprofessionalism and disrespect.

These journalists are not he brightest and have no common sense. Why put a player in a spotlight because of your certain belief/opinion. As if others raised their hands and was scoring at will around babar. Unfair criticism, that too during a practice match.

It's a bigger issue than cricket tbh, anyone who performs is supposed to do carry the burden of all the others.

Yes. And its unfair. Every player has a role in the team. Babar is not a finisher yet. And i am sure mickey has given a role to him after considering his abilities. However the fans want to milk the cow till it bleeds.

I can't see the video. What was the question?

Man the calm this guy has allah. Wallahi how could the reporter even have the audacity to ask that question and in that manner he’s so lucky it wasn’t kohli or someone else they would have slapped him with some Mc Bc and get him kicked out of the room the calm Babar had I can’t even

Don't know whether to laugh or feel aorry for the players or for the journalists.

Indian journalists are arrogant.
Pak's are dumb.

Yeah he should have scored 13 and get out like your sweetheart

Bunch of snowflakes, somebody find y'all safe space.

Very pertinent question, which wouldn't be issue surely if Pak had won the game. Keep losing and not expect any criticism is the height entitled behavior.

Our supposed fans are the more ignorant and jump at any opportunity to lay into Babar at any given chance.

Pathetic fan base.

But he's criticising the wrong guy. Why don't i see them asking these type of questions to Malik and Hafeez??

The only reliable batsman in our squad along with Imam.

And this is the treatment he gets.

We deserve the likes of Imran Farhat etc. not someone of Babar’s caliber.

Our fans and journalist are easily the dumbest. I feel bad for Babar. He’s got everything including a good work ethic but his lack of self-belief is hurting him. He really needs a strong mentor in life, so do others in the team btw.

Yeah he should have scored 13 and get out like your sweetheart

Sweet heart can at least keep and would bat higher where he will score impactful if Inzi the authoritarian micromanager would stop interfering.

However your snowflakes can barely do their primary job, in fact they are so bad at it that whenever they do supposedly a good job, Pakistan end up losing.

The century against England the other night was definitely selfish considering the pitch and the wickets in hand, but yesterday's knock was brilliant with the match situation the way it was and the journalist’s question was totally uncalled for.

Good stuff from the journalist. Homeless man's Hashim Amla needs to be made aware of the reality.

Why aren’t such tough questions asked of Sarfaraz? Such as “how do you feel about not finishing the game for pakistan?”

How often has he helped us through now?

This game today was lost by bowlers by the way. You should be able to defend such a score against a so called minnow team

Babar Azam: 112 off 108 balls, SR 103
10 other Pakistani batsmen: 147/9 off 179 balls, SR 82

Journalist: yOu MaDe ThE lAzIeSt CeNtUrY

This.

If it wasn't for Babar, we would have got out for way less. In any case, his knock came at a very healthy strike rate, and its more the fault of those batting around him that we lost.

If Malik and Imad didn't play such useless innings, and if Sarfraz stuck around, Pakistan would easily have made 300+.

I dont want to blame Babar today.

But something is clearly wrong that every match Pakistan has a centurion or close to it and still they are losing again and again.

This point needs to be further looked at.

We woudnt have even made 220 if it wasn't for that century. Ignorance at an all time high it seems.

So let me get this straight.

All the Babar critics on PP have been criticizing Babar's selfishness and slow SR when batting, and now a journalist asks a questions raising these points, the journalist is unprofessional? Right.

This journalist is a disgrace and needs to be booted out ASAP

What slow batting? He scored a century at a SR of 103...
