Now that Najam sethi has announced that Pakistan will host Emerging (U-23) Asia Cup 2018 which youngsters do you think think should get a chance to represent Pakistan
IMO we can select the likes of Hassan Khan,Usama mir,Shaheenshah and Tournaments like U-19 WC and PSL 2018 can also throw some young talent and who knows maybe we can pick Some players from LQ Rising stars side.

I dont see India touring Pakistan not after when they asked U19 shifted from India. Ideally it should be hosted in emerging Asian countries giving them international exposure. ACC should look to host in places like Nepal and Hong Kong.

From memory, it is an U23 team with a maximum of 4 players over the age of 23 allowed in the squad.

In which case:

5) Agha Salman (24)

7) Umair Masood (w/k)
8) Zafar Gohar
9) Ahsan Baig (25)

Plenty of bowling options in that XI, and can add another bowler in place of a batsman if needs be (just wasn't sure what the batting capabilities of 9-11 are).

Squad:

Saim Ayub, Zaid Alam, Danish Aziz, Amad Butt (23), Musa Khan, Shaur Ahmed, Arshad Iqbal, Ahmed Bashir, Ghulam Mudassar, Asghar, Usama Mir.

That's 22 in all (just in case it clashes with any A tours). Can substitute in any top performers from the ongoing U19 tournament if needs be.

Have omitted Sahibzada Farhan, Hussain Talat and SSA as they have played international cricket- they should play any upcoming A tours.

Saif Badar is overrated
Has done nothing except that 75 odd in 5th place match in U19WC, needs to play one whole season in domestic and then something can be said about him, his numbers overall so far are mediocre.

Talent isn't only criteria to rate or hype a player, if it was then Umar Akmal would have been Bradman

Looks like a good squad from the available talent pool. Might be a little unfair on the other teams though

Development squads should be picked on the basis of potential IMO, rather than simply on numbers.

Agree he needs to play domestic, but if he isn't given proper chances what can he do?

Honestly unfortuantely youth cricket itni follow nai kr rha ajkal.. The batsmen you listed are all solid and I would go with them but I have reservations over Agha Salman ..

Bowlers mai Zafar and Hasnain are fine but no idea about Nasim and Ahsan.. May be Ahmad Bashir should be in first team ??.

2nd team mai really liked the look of Musa from u-19 WC.
