Younis > Chanderpaul > Jayawardene

But Jayawardene was the best to watch out of the three.

Never rated Chanderpaul probably because he wasn't as classy as his other teammates.. Case of how Sachin overshadowed Dravid's greatness

Younis was far ahead of other two. Chanderpaul was better than Mahela (who was a bit of a HTB) but he was very selfish.

yunus big player with big impact.then jaywardne.chanderpaul impact on team was very ess..

Chanderpaul's innings lacked impact, selfish batsman who would hide down the batting order and simply play for his average.

He only averages above 50 because of the number of nots out.Check his average vs pace and spin both well below 50

Lol at Mahela being better than Younis in tests. Younis was a match winning batsmen in test, don't think Mahela was as impactful. Shiv was underated and a very gritty player. Wasn't the most othardox as well, but found a way to score runs. Was under Lara's shadow for most of his career.

In tests I'll rank the 3 like this

YK
Shiv
Mahela

I'll be very surprised if anyone opts for any order besides YK>Chanders>Mahela.

Not much of a comparison to be honest.

They are all on the same level and one could argue for either one in Tests;

But in LOIs, Mahela wipes the floor with both of them.

As a batsman, all formats combined, I'll pick Mahela.

He was the best captain out of the three too. And a gun fielder. Also, a team player unlike the other too.

So it's quite obvious who is the best player, all formats combined.

in Tests Mahela was the biggest FTB going. Chanderpaul also batted for too many not outs.

YK wipes the floor with these jabronis shaz619

LOL :))

UAE Khan is the biggest FTB of all time

Rayyman YK has centuries vs every team and in every country. And is miles better than Mahela SSC TB and Chanderpaul. YK has a fairly balanced record everywhere.

Mahela is an FTB and Chanderpaul batted too low to play impactful knocks.

Yes, he does. No doubt, but on flat tracks.

UAE Khan is the biggest FTB of all time

A wearing Day 5 track in Pallekele where he scored that 171 wasn't totally flat. Nor was The Oval pitch, where he scored a series saving 218, which as per Sky was the paciest and bounciest out of the whole England Test series last summer.

Also scored hundreds on turning pitches against Anil Kumble and India in 2005 in Kolkata and Bangalore. He may not have the best technique against lateral movement but I can point you to his 149 vs NZ in Auckland in 2001 and 173 vs England at Headingley in 2006 where there's always some assistance for seamers.

Its not just about conditions, but about pressure as well and I'd go far as saying YK was one of the best pressure players I've ever seen. Stood up in so many clutch situations.

People saying Chanderpaul was selfish - have you seen some of the batsmen he had to play with ?

Devon Smith, Daren Ganga, Brenton Parchwood, Xavier Marshall and god knows who else.

When you have a Board in WICB that treats its seniors so poorly and falls out with its players on a regular basis, constantly plays politics and with so much inter-island bickering - you have to be selfish.

Check his avg against spin and pace - both under 40. His Not outs boosted it upto 50+. He was a selfish batsman who despite having modest company was never man enough to bat up the order and take some responsibility even after Lara retired and WI have been in a crisis always played for himself.

When he used to bat with the tail, didn't shield them and make any effort to up the scoring rate.

No wonder none of the commentators, reporters and ex players mention his name.

Easily the worst and most unworthy batsman to average 50+. Many batsman who average lower but way ahead of him which just shows stats without context is just meaningless to say the least.

I don't rate Mahela or Chanderpaul for the reasons already mentioned above.

Younis was a class act. A comparison betweeen him and Sangakarra would be more appropriate.

It's very difficult to get chandarpaul out. He is similar to how Miandad back in 80s. not so great to watch , but very effective.

Younis plays like tailender sometimes. Not good against pace or swing. Best of the 3 against spin. Mahela was most elegant of the three but not as gritty as other two. Didn't score as much as others outside home.

Yk wipes the floor with these two and then some more.....

Younis is an ATG for crying out loud man !!!

YK stomps on them both. Always thought Mahela was a tad overrated.

Mahela was underrated. Just look at comments in this thread as a bit of proof.

The guy has over 10k runs he is not even in the discussion for being an ATG.

younis is much better than both. chanderpaul was selfish tuk tuk like misbah and jaya could not perform outside asia consistently like younis

Younus is by far the most clutch out of the three. Posters above have described why Jayawardene and Chanderpaul shouldnt be rated as highly and i agree with them. Poor comparison to lump YK woth these two.

Lol at ATG. How many centuries did he score outside his den? How many times has he scored on tough conditions. Pak played a few outside of home/pak/uae compared to other teams. He missed even some of those tough tours. I would only call him Pak Great. Some of his great innings are played on flat tracks. Even 250 he scored against India was batting first when condition was flat. He is only slightly better than Mahela. That too because of two centuries he scored in his last leg although those two came in between huge number of failures.

^ Did you just say his 250 was easy because it was made batting first ??
Lol the dude probably has the best 4th innings record in the history of the game , with proper atg level match winning hundreds . Younis was a tough cookie . Flawed but never a ftb and a tough track clown like Sehwag . Nor was he a bottler or mental midger like sachin . He finished the job back pain or not .
Dont have to rate him but these qualities were undeniable tbh.

Without any single doubt younis khan

Fail thread from op to bash pakistan legend keep trying

Go see those 4 th innings he played, most of them on non crumbling wickets. Not every wicket crumble on last 2 days.

Lol. Shewag has scored a lot more meaning full and great innings than younis on tougher conditions. Younis can only dream about playing like shewag's double century, innings in galle on tough spinning wicket. Check his century against SA in 2001, century in Melbourne in 2004, some of the greater knocks he played on flat wickets in pak and India.

Sehwag ?? Na he was a proper ftb . Clueless against the moving ball . Feet in cement . Stumps on the floor .
Not every wicket crumbles but younis has played enough class innings against great spinners on all kinds of wickets.
