Iftimania seems to be the flavour of the day. But who is your favourite at the moment?

Fakhar Zaman

The only player who gets me excited in this set up. Otherwise all are as boring and lack character/personality

Lack of education
Lack of charisma
Lack of real star power

Fakhar zaman-
No theatrics on or of the field
Plays for the team
Selfless
Is box office on his day and has WC figures in one day cricket .
His slog sweep for six is pure class

Mohammad Rizwan.

At the start through to the middle of his career his ceiling appeared to be as an early 30's averaging gloveman, nothing special with the bat, and perhaps as a placeholder in the national team until a better option came along.

I am so endeared by how through sheer persistence, honesty, hard work and integrity he not only made himself a permanent fixture in the team, he has gotten to the very top of world cricket. He has surpassed his ceiling and then some.

In the process Pakistan possess an internationally renowed keeper, known in households around the world, who still may be a few years away from his absolute peak.

Given the mess Pakistan and the PCB constantly find themselves in it is refreshing to have someone like Rizwan bring respect to the nation.

The truth is that people who cannot appreciate that are those who are responsible for giving Pakistan it's ugly image in the first place.

I like a lot of the current lot but I'll have to go with Babar and Shaheen as a close 2nd. Only 2 players that put us on the map in World cricket.

Having said that I like quite a few of the other players in the team too. Can't say I dislike anyone even Shan Masood who I think just doesn't deserve a place in the squad because he has not been able to perform at the International level despite having the right attitude etc.

Shaheen is my favourite player and undoubtedly Pakistan's best player.

He's the only Pakistani player who is truly world class in all 3 x formats of the game.

What elevated his status recently was how he performed in the 2022 WT20 despite being nowhere near 100% fit. He was certainly the best bowler in the tournament.

He was also Pakistan's best bowler in the 2019 ODI World Cup and 2021 WT20. Unlike the likes of Babar, he hasn't made a name for himself by merely bashing minnows and depleted sides.

His batting has improved enormously and he's on the verge of becoming a genuine all-rounder in ODI cricket. In T20Is, his power hitting makes him a asset as a number 8 batsman. I would regard him as a proper all-rounder in the shortest format.

The only thing I worry about him is that the PCB want to play in him every game and bowl him to the ground because they are desperate to market the team as the "no.1 ranked ODI side in the world".

Shaheen shouldn't be asked to risk his career for any tournament. I hope the well-connected mods on here can pass this message on to the PCB because you find players like Shaheen in Pakistan cricket once in a generation.

Absolute rubbish…

He lost his place in the Test side to a guy who was unfairly ousted for his inclusion in the first place

Sarfaraz should have played 70 Tests by now but we had to keep darling Rizwan happy!

For batting I enjoy watching Babar bat when he is in full flow.

In bowling he may not be the best bowler in the team but I like Naseem Shah, especially when he is shaping the ball away at decent pace. He is a bowler that I want to do well.

Special mention to Iftikhar who is a great player to watch in full flow.

It’s got be Iftimania currently

Only blockbuster player who is thrown in at No 8 in T20. Reminds of Mo Ali for England batting at 8.

Shaheen first 2 overs with white ball is sheer entertainment when on fire.

I don't think I have a favourite player these days. I like watching Babar Azam and Shaheen Afridi.

In fact the only time I ever had a favourite player was when Imran Khan was around.

Same here I don't really have individual favourites anymore. How the team performs means more to me.

I think these days we're getting too caught up in celebrating individual milestones and accolades regardless of the team's results.

This. Shaheen is box office, go out of my way to watch him. Bigger fan now that he has started to match Umar Akmal’s career stats with the bat, just needs the green lipstick now :akhtar

What’s your concern with Rizwan the test match player? His batting record is similar to Sarfraz in tests (and FC) and Rizwan is the better keeper which matters more in test cricket than in the shorter formats.
For the moment I think we could pick Rizwan in SENA for his superior keeping skills and utilize Sarfraz in the subcontinent for Sarfrazs superior batting ability against spin.

A few threads on Rizwan so let's stick to what we like about Rizwan and not comparisons.

Lmao. Green lipstick Umar Akmal is a mythical player akin to Motivated Connor McGregor in ufc. They have appeared a handful of times in history, but their fans wait to this day in anticipation. :afridi

MCM never lost a round, Green lipstick UA never missed a ball into a six

Naseem Shah. He is absolutely box office.
Saim Ayub & M Harris i also enjoy watching a lot.

What Pakistan needs is a maverick type of cricketer. Someone who challenges authority, lacks discipline, but is box-office to watch :)

Being an Indian i love these Pakistani players most...
Babar Azam
Shaheen Afridi
Haris Rauf
Fakhar Zaman
Naseem Shah

Former West Indian fast bowler and renowned cricket commentator, Ian Bishop, has disclosed that Babar Azam is his all-time favorite cricketer from Pakistan.
