India and Pakistan have had some amazing matches in the past and some extremely unforgettable moments. Although some moments stand out more than others

So what is your favorite Indo-Pak Moment?

Mine

- Shahid Afridi Smashing 100 off 46 Balls Against India in 2006
- Javed Miandad Hitting the Six in Sharjah back in 1986
- Mohammad Amir's Unforgettable 2016 Asia Cup Spell against India when he was bowling amazingly!

What are Yours!

Also how could I forget Shahid Afridi's match winning knock against India in the 2014 Asia Cup!

Sreesanth catching Misbah off Joginder Sharma when only 6 runs were needed off 4 balls to give India its second World Cup and maintain its unbeaten streak against Pakistan in the World Cups.

Maybe the most memorable moment of all was Prasad getting Sohail out after Sohail had pointed to the boundary to him when Pakistan seemed to be well on its way to victory. That wicket arguably kept alive India's unbeaten streak against Pakistan in WCs.

and

Sachin-Tendulkar-vs-Pakistan-World-Cup-2003...-The-memories.jpg

Shobby and moyo partnership in 2009 icc champions trophy
Kamran akmal 113 in Karachi
Amir spell in the world t20
Afridi six in 2014 to win the game
Junaid Khan spell in chennai 2012

Oh how could I forget Shoiab Akhtar Conesctive Yorkers to get Tendulkar and Dravid out in 1999 in a Test Match in India when the crowd went silent!

Too many to list just from the Big matches alone ... see my signature to see what I mean ... and it doesnt include the B&H World Championship wins, CT Matches and countless Asia cup and bilateral matches.

But if I had to pick just one single ball it has to be Venky Prasad vs Aamir Sohail :) ... great memories ... cant believe its been already 20+ yrs since then.

Wahab Riaz first ball bowled Yuvraj Singh

I think 200 million Pakistanis that moment went nuts around the world

Oh Yes that was an amazing delivery I remember watching that live and I went absolutely crazy when I saw Yuvraj's Stumps get knocked over.

That ball Reverse Swung back into Yuvraj like a rocket!

One of my two favorite moments no doubt... the other contender for the top spot is Sharma getting Misbah out. Reasons:

1) Sohail and Anwar had put Pakistan on the path to victory, when Sohail decided to point out to Prasad where he would hit the next ball. Prasad gave a fitting reply followed by a Pakistani collapse and India advancing to the next round.

2) With 6 required off 4 balls, the WC seemed firmly in Pakistan's grasp. That one ball decided who would win the WC. This was not merely getting a batsman out, or who would advance to the next round, it was the whole WC. Doesn't get much bigger than that.

Both games of course are an integral part of the 11-0 record.

Although I'm an Indian but I enjoyed pak successes. One of my favourite when Ejaz Ahmed played one of the best ODI inning of his life. He treated kumble & Co like a school boys . If i remember correctly he open in that inning in place of Sayed Anwar. It was the decider of the 3 match series. It was played in Pakistan. I was in 9th std then. I missed my tuitions classes for that match. Those were amazing days

Yep agreed ... on the scale of importance that wkt of Misbah cant be beat. But the Venky-Sohail episode had all the trappings of a Bollywood script.

Other honorable mentions

1. Tendulkar vs Shoaib - 2003
2. Ajay Jadeja vs Waqar 1996
3. Umar Gul vs Sehwag 2011
4. Venky vs Pak 1999 WC

Epic theatre.

Nayan Mongia skying one in Chennai. What was he thinking ?

When Gavaskar got out in the 4th innings of the 1987 Bangalore Test. YouTube is your friend if you haven't seen the highlights. One of the most dramatic India-Pakistan Tests of all time. Imran Khan said the tension was so great there were even reports of fans back home fainting.

Gavaskar was the only player standing between Pakistan and victory. It was an incredible knock on a vicious turner but after his wicket, we were able to mop up the tail and won by 16 runs. Our first ever series win in India.

Afridi knocking off Balaji's cap in the winning moment of the 2005 Bangalore Test.

The Chennai crowd giving Pakistan a standing ovation in the 1999 Test and the Karachi crowd reciprocating with the Indian team after they won an epic ODI in 2004.

It has got to be our 321 chase vs India at Mohail 2007 - great innings by YK in what was our highest ODI chase at the time.

Have fond memories of Afridi has back to back sixes off Ashwin in the 2014 Asia Cup and Afridi's 4 consecutive sixes off Harbhajan in the 2006 Lahore Test.

I think that was Danish Kaneria!

Amazing memories nonetheless - what an epic innings it was by YK. Loved that Bangalore Test!

Those were definitely amazing, another chase where Pakistan didn't win is the 350 chase in 2004 when Inzamam played an amazing innings although we lost the match it would've been an amazing match for the neutral.

Yes I remember that fondly too!

Come to think of it (as MMHS) told me - we were 38/2 after 12 overs chasing 350! What a blinder Inzy and Moyo played that day!

We got it down to 24 off 18 balls - but Moin and Malik couldn't finish the job... At the time - it was the highest score in the 2nd innings of an ODI.

Probably India whoopin Pakistan's rear at the 2003 WC. I remember some maniac running into the ground where we were playing softball cricket and telling us to go watch the match as India scored 40 runs of 4 overs.

Ah yes. Saw that one live at NSK. Thought the last shot was going for six but then it was caught. :(

Another one would be Afridi's hundred at Kanpur. Heard it on the car radio on the way back from school.

We were 34/2 But after 8 Overs. We still required 316 from 42 Overs with 8 wickets in hand! It was a 135 Run Partnership from Inzi and Moyo!

We needed 166 from the final 20 overs but we could only manage 160! We made it to 341/7 in the Final over! We needed 9 runs but Naveed and Moin only managed 3 runs in that over...

It was a really sad loss. Although it was a thriller of a match!

I was at NSK for that match too :ahmed

Miandad last ball six hitting Chetan Sharma out off the park. Can't get enough off it on yourube!

Didn't watch the T20 WC.

But the 2003 one is my overwhelming memory of any world cup innings against Pakistan. Never expected Sachin to start like that, was more aggressive than Sehwag that day.

Don't really remember much about the test matches as Ind-Pak LOI matches have always been more memorable and exciting to me (especially those of yesteryears, the current Pak team is not a patch on its former) than the Ind-Pak test matches which tended to be either high scoring draws or easy win for one team or the other.

Dravid and Sachin off successive balls. You could have heard a pin drop in Kolkata.

Saeed Anwar 194 :)
Chennai Test
Mohammad Asif to Sehwag, Laxman and Tendulkar
Any of the matches in the 90s besides the 3 in the WC

Ijaz Ahmed mauling India at Qaddafi Stadium.

2003 champions trophy win at edgbaston, mainly because I saw it at the ground live.

Sreesanth catching Misbah off Joginder Sharma when only 6 runs were needed off 4 balls to give India its second World Cup and maintain its unbeaten streak against Pakistan in the World Cups.

Pakistan and India never faced in world cup final.

India winning test and Odi series in pak, the googly to moin by tendulkar, man balaji and pathan, tored apart pak batting lineup and sehwag tearing into a much superior pak bowling lineup was a treat to watch, also Kumble 10fer in Delhi, the chennai quarter final, defending 125 against pak.

How Sachin whacked Akthar for six in that 2003 world cup, the look on Akthar's face should tell their sorry tale in world cups against India.
Dhoni mauling helicopter shots in his first ever tour to Pakistan, 2003/04 Test series winning moments, Pathan's hattrick.
Those were the days Pakistan had a decent team and a win against them brought some satisfaction. But these days with their weak minded players, sadly, it has become a boring affair.

Same game but previous innings with the Indian bowling unit of Pandya, Jadeja, Nehra, Bumrah and Yuvraj bowling out the entire Pakistani side for 83. Also because this is a recent event and therefore more relevant for the future.

There are many.

The standout moment was Akhtar's over at Edgbaston (ICC Champions Trophy) where he got Kaif and Yuvraj Singh.

The match was fantastic even if there have been others that held more weight. Just a personal favorite.

2011 WC Semi for me. From morning to the evening, my college campus had this amazing buzz. Every class we took was more about the build up to the match rather than being about studies. It was 6-7 hours of non-stop festive atmosphere before we witnessed the greatest India Vs Pak encounter of all time.

Now that I look back, I feel so thankful to the team for winning that match. Had we lost, it would have been the biggest heartbreak for me.

Chennai test (1999) - for Saqlain's killer instinct and the Chennai crowd's sportsman spirit (very un-subcontinent like at that time)

Kohli's 183 in the Asia cup (2012) - when he mentally scarred the Pak bowlers, turning their team into perpetual Kohli *******

Oh, How could I forget that spell from Akhtar he had to go back and bowl the delivery then straight after that he's gone! That was hilarious!

I guess if I had to pick one it would be the consecutive Akhtar Yorkers as I mentioned as one of my favorites before.

Oh another one that just crossed my mind is when Ijaz Ahmed destroyed the Indian bowling attack When he scored 139* (84) In Lahore in 1997.

We chased down 220 odd for the loss of 1 wicket in 26 Overs. We could have done it much quicker had Mohamamd Waseem not felt pity for the bowlers. He only scored 27 (52) Had he not felt pity on the Indian bowlers he would've scored 27 off 12. We could've finished the match in about 19/20 Overs.

But 26 Overs is still amazingly quick in for the 90's. Plus we clinched the series 2-1 in the series decider.

Here is the video for those of you who haven't seen it.

That is exactly why we went on to win the 2012 Asia Cup...

That is also exactly why when he went to face the mentally scared Pak bowlers a few months later in a Bilateral Series that he only scored 13 Runs from 3 matches.

1 : Javed's Last Ball 6
2 : Sachin's Upper Cut 6 off Sohaib in 2003 WC
3 : Shoaib's 2 Yorkers
4 : Inzi's attack on Indian fan in Canada
5 : imran Kah calling Srikaant Back after LBW decision
6 : Mohsin Kahn (?) reaction for Kapil bowling on leg side
7 : Schin Dismissal In Chennai test
8 : Sachin's run out after colliding with Shoaib
9 : Kaif's catch in Karachi
10 : Afridi's 2 sixes off Pathan in England, Champions Trophy
11: Misbah Scoop
12: Irfan's Hatrick
13: Sachin's catch in Lahore in last ODI in 2004
14 : Wahab's Yorker to Yuvi in 2001 WC Semi
15 : Waqar's over to Scahin in Canada where he had 3-4 LBW appeals but not given

and there wuld b more

Have a very personal memory for the Indo Pak clash when India toured Pak in 2004.

I was watching the ODIs in my uni pub in London with about 50 Indian and 50 Pakistani fans. The best thing about watching cricket in London is abundance of supporters from both sides and the banter between the two teams. It does lead to unruly and uncouth behaviour sometimes by both sets of fans, but is usually in good spirits.

During this series, in the 2nd ODI, India were chasing a tall and Sachin had scored a 130 odd was leading our chase. With about 10 overs left, he decided went after one of the spinners and tried to smack him for a 6. All the Indians got up thinking thats a 6, when suddenly Shoaib Malik or Afirdi pounced the catch a couple of feet from the boundary. Suddenly all the Pakistanis got up celebrating the wicket and the Indians were engulfed in despair. Pakistan went on to win the game.

The exact opposite happened in the 5th game of the series, when Inzamam smacked the ball, and all the Pakistanis got up assuming thats a 6. To their despair, Sachin gobbled up the catch inches before the boundary. It was our turn to rejoice as Pakistan went on to lose the match and the series.

The camaraderie though finished on a high note, when a picture was published next day in the local newspaper with an Indian and a Pakistani holding their respective flag, and me in the middle bringing both the flags together.

As an Indian fan there are a few other instances that give me goosebumps
1. Sohail vs Prasad - 96 WC
2. Sidhu having a go at Aamir Sohail in Sharjah in 96 (India, SA, Pakistan tri series)
3. Kanitkar hitting Saqi for a 4 to win the 98 Independence cup in Sharjah
4. Kumble's 10
5. Sachin taking on Shoaib, Wasim and Waqar in 03 WC
6. Sehwag at Multan in 04
7. WT20 win over Pak in 07.
8. The tied match in WT20 in 07 and Indian wining in a bowl-out
9. Mohali, 2011

There are other moments where India lost, and I was annoyed as a young kid at the point. But now when I look back, I realise the immense skill displayed by the Pakistanis and the brilliant cricket
1. Chennai 1999 - One of my favourite tests. The crowd reaction, Sachin's century and Pakistan team's never say die attitude was amazing.
2. Shoaib Akhtar's 2 deliveries to Dravid and Sachin. Absolute beauties
3. Saeed Anwar's 188 in the 2nd innings at Kolkata. Same game as Shoaib's double strike
4. Kamran Akmal's rearguard effort after Pakistan were 39/5 in 2006.

Akthar yorkers in '99, Prasad bowling Sohail in the '96 World Cup quarter final, and Kamran's hundred in 2006

That Karachi match from 2004 ODI series will always have a special place in my heart. The match that made me fall in love with cricket.

I remember Razzaq hitting one of the biggest sixes I've ever seen, right onto the roof of NSK.

The middle order got us within touching distance, towards the end we needed 35 off 25, then just 10 from 8 in the chase. Sadly the lower order choked.

Apart from all world cup matches the Benson and Hedge's final in 1985 in Australia was a great memory

Epic performance from Asif definitely one of my favourite moments, no.1 is Akhtar taking out dravid/sachin. People are always trying to justify why India shouldn't play Pakistan for various reasons but this thread proves that an Ind/Pak encounter provides them entertainment which can't be matched by anything else and in the end it is the fans who are missing out when it comes to those special bilateral series

It's often referred to as the T20 World Cup casually

Only for those that casually watch the game.

For those that follow the game regularly, they know that the WT20 is not taken anywhere near as seriously as the WC.

- Miandad establishing a decade of dominance for Pakistan.
- Akhtar making the nightmares of Indians come true by dismissing Dravid and Sachin in consecutive deliveries.
- Asif making Sachin bow at his feet.
- Afridi putting Ashwin in his place.

Good times, lol. Seriously though, India and Pakistan have had some great moments together. A shame that we don't have an annual series like England and Australia do.

There are many on PP over the years who follow the game a bit more then casually but have called it a T20 World Cup, I do agree though that it's just a World T20 I don't think a T20 tournament should ever be a World Cup. But you seem to take their words a bit too seriously:smith

If I had taken their words a bit too seriously, I too would have called the WT20 a WC.

But I haven't. :yk3

The match was lost, like MANY, MANY - down to fielding. Kaif took a blinder at long on (which would have cost IND 2/3 runs as well, had he dropped it); someone dropped Sehwag at the start, & he went on to blast 75+.

Not only the dropped catches but the amounts of extras conceded by Akhtar, Sami and Naved was appalling. Those extras proved to be decisive given the margin of victory.

india-pak rivalry is hyped up due to political reasons.. As far as Cricket goes, I find Ashes, India vs Aus and Aus vs SA far more intriguing..

It was played at Lahore,s Ghaddafi ( I hate this name ) stadium. It was a desperate kind of inning from Ejaz who was losing his spot in the team and O'boy, what an inning that turned out to be. Similarly his " ham zulf" Salim Malik was dropped mid-tour from 1986-87 Imran Khan,s team in India for stretch of low scores and was ordered to leave the team in India and join and lead Pakistan A-team to Zimbabwe . Before leaving , for some reasons he was given one more game, the ODI at Eden Garden . Malik was angry, unhappy for being dropped mid-tour and he released all his frustration on Indian bowlers, including great Kapil Dev. We all know what happened there.
