Forgetting about the finances for the moment, what do you see lacking in the domestic broadcasting ? I understand DRS and dozens of cameras are not feasible but still there can be improvements.

Lets just take the advertisement.I feel that not enough is ever done to tell the public that a domestic series in underway.A little bit of hype won`t hurt.

I have no knowledge of shooting but I still feel that picture quality is very poor as compared to what you see in international matches.Other countries` leagues, domestic matches...always have better picture quality.Poor tapes,I guess ?

I once saw an Indian domestic match where umpires were wearing helmets-it was nice to see a good example being set-adds an aura of respectability to the whole system.

Have you ever felt that the camera angle and distance with regard to the pitch is not always appropriate ? That also I feel, ruins the picture quality.
In general, the camera work is not exactly as good,in following the ball after it has been hit.For instance they will just show the point fielder collecting the ball rather than pan back the camera to show the fielder as well before the ball reaches him.

And yes, replays and and Hawk-eye for LBW decisions or close look at some catches is also
not present.Even in matches with no DRS,they do show the trajectory of the ball.

I agree with you points.

-Picture Quality is poor it looks like watching mid 90's cricket.

-Commentary is substandard with broadcasting channel bringing only their employees (journalist) to commentate during matches.

-Replays not present

The graphics look like they are from the early 2000s and the TV quality is that of the early 90s. Also, the english commentary is terrible. The kits make we want to vomit. At the very least we could get some better coverage for FaysalBank T20 and make it a poor man's IPL minus the international players. Few diehard cricket fans watch domestic cricket but the T20 cup does get good attendance so why not get better graphics for it as well as good kits and better commentary. Reduce the number of teams as well.

??? weird.

Geo Super is much better in televising games live but I rather want PCB to involve Ten Cricket to broadcast their games. PTV Sports won't improve in gazillion years.

One the most most disgusting things I've ever watched in terms of quality and atmosphere.

Really bad, like 90s camcorder quality.

In order to generate profits the viewing experience must be good, which is why I pay for Sky Sports because of the quality. Watching Pakistani domestic is disgusting, invest in HD cameras, add colour, improve commentators and provide good camera work and processing (i.e. replays, reviews at end of innings etc.).

I also don't understand why in Pakistan and UAE we don't have electronic advertising boards!? We can make so much more money as it allows multiple clients to be advertised.

Heard pcb is set to launch special channel for broadcasting cricket .Interesting idea 😯

Domestic matches in Pakistan barely make any revenue.

The tournament that does (PSL) sees quite an improvement in coverage as it is not Geo Super or PTV in charge of that production.

Am hearing the PTV has made good profits and achieved the highest viewership, eye balls for any domestic cricket tournament before thanks to the high quality production. The avg no of viewers on FB and YT are around 150,000. The PCB YT channel is getting 100,000-150,000 new subscribers a day. Definitely on the right track

Production quality has been quite high this season. Feels like a professional production. And the quality of the commentary has also improved ever since Ramiz left.

Agreed.

This guy Sikandar has a pretty awesome and solid n smooth voice quality, that is imperative for an effective speaker to catch the listeners’ attention.
He doesn’t have to scream or use extra effort, his voice is naturally deep n heavy. And trust me, this is very, very rare among Asian men.

And not only his cricket knowledge is pretty good but his commentary has good content.

He doesnt seem to take that classical route that almost all Pakistanis cricket pundits take, and that is, continuously acting like an all knowing mama ji who is hopelessly obsessed with predictions and making prophecies.

I truly like his focus on the game and his ability to keep providing with details and technical analysts that are to the point and delivered in a good standard grammatical structure.

IMO, he is currently THE BEST cricket commentator from Asia.

One of the female commentators, I think it’s Sana Mir, has been awesome with her commentary. (The other female is OK too).

Just like Sikander, Sana is easy and pleasant on the ears and she breaks down the live play in a pretty good detail, supported by an even better technical analysis of the players in play.

She correctly identifies the strokes and is well versed with terms like, heave, slice, upper cut, scoop, backfoot punch, checked shot etc.

The Urdu commentary by that gentleman (don’t know his name, probably Tariq Saeed?) is also not bad at all.
The best thing I like about him is that his voice is a ditto copy of an old timer Hassan Jalil. He was classic.

Cameraman-ship has been not bad and pic quality may not be ultra world class but pretty much acceptable.

I think we did an awesome job with lots of class, and without having to use cheap white skin Russian cheer leaders dancing among thousands of, not so pretty looking, crowd members looking at the dancing girls with lust. We also didn’t have to force the commentators to pump in fake passion in the commentary when a boundary is hit or a wicket falls.

Again, there is definitely a class, and the job is well done by PCB.
Generous credit where due.

If I look at room of improvement, then one thing that stands out for me is this, one particular background song with a tune that seems to be coming straight out of a Punjabi movie where Anjuman is dancing barefoot in a wheat field. It just doesn’t sit well with live cricket.
From the entire song, I think “Groove mera”, they picked up a 5 second audio clip with a tune that has a very deyhati type taste.

They could do better for sure.

Has definitely come a long way. Very impressive. Compared to my younger days listening to "that's gone high wide and handsome" or on radio "yeh rawaa tabsara wills kings cigrait bananay walay pakistan tobacco company Kay janib say pesh kiya ja raha hey . Tururrrum."

Man, those were the classical days, Hassan Jalil, Munir Husain in Urdu, and Iftikhar Ahmed, Umer Qureshi for English.

I wasn’t impressed a whole with Chishti Mujahid, his commentary was very dry, he would NEVER EVER name a basic field position.
He was always like DEEPISH mid-on, WIDISH third-man, SQUARISH gully.

We passed on your comments to Sikander and he says thanks for that.

Yup. Sikander and Sana are very good additions. They should commentate in all of Pakistan's home series. I've enjoyed Sikander's commentary for quite some time. Really stands-out among Pakistani commentators. I think he was a presenter before...not sure though. But certainly should be commentating whenever Pakistan plays and in domestic too.

Picture quality and production have been great but commentary needs further improvement.
Some of the female commentators have been boring and sound repetitive....need to improve.

Its actually very good but they need Hawkeye and DRS

Poor umpiring standards!

Lol picture quality is only great because the crew stayed back after NZ ran away. Let’s see how it will be for next tournament but really enjoying what we are seeing now.

Commentary can be much much better. Sikander was referring to Imam ul Haq’s fielding by his strong side is left hand and the throws from left hand. The video is clearly showing him throwing from right! People have been critical of Tariq Saeed as well for Urdu commentary.

Tariq Saeed's Urdu Commentary is best of all Commentaries (English + Urdu).
Should get International Hindi/Urdu Commentary Stints, may be Star should hire him for World Cup Hindi Commentary team.
Gives proper analysis, update with international & domestic cricket, uses pure urdu words not good shot/ good wickets ones, seem to know modern day Cricket.

Am I the only one who finds the excessive use of English words when doing commentary in Urdu really irritating? One of the female commentators - unsure of her name - is particularly guilty of this.

Tariq Saeed seems to be the only one who does a good job of not doing this and his commentary is well worth listening to.

This is incorrect

The PCB has its own cameras which they used during the Zimbabwe series. This is pretty much the same quality, however camera work is much better

:)

But if it makes them profit why can't PCB hire quality production again?

Must say we should give credit to Wasin Khan for revolutionising our domestic cricket. There has been so many improvements that have shaped Pakistan cricket to whole new level. I just wish we could have his services extended. Really shame he was let go.

Thank You MIG!
It's awesome to know that he received the message. I hope this will encourage him to improve himself even more and soon become a world class commentator. He is almost there, and definitely has the potential that needs to be tapped on.

Looking forward to see him taking over, wherever Ramiz Raja used to commentate in the international games for Pak.
I hope Sana Mir also has a great career in commentary and she represents Pakistan in the commentary box during the international games as well.
