So looks like its happening!

Australia have announced what many are calling a full strength Test squad for the tour.

What squad should Pakistan announce to take on the mighty Australians?

1. Babar
2. Azhar
3. Kamran
4. Saud
5. Rizwan
6. Fawad
7. Faheem
8. Abid
9. Yasir shah
10. Shaheen Afridi
11. Faheem Ashraf
12. Hassan Ali
13. Sajid Khan
14. Nauman
15. Naseem Shah

1. Babar
2. Azhar
3. Kamran
4. Saud
5. Rizwan
6. Fawad
7. Faheem
8. Abid
9. Yasir shah
10. Shaheen Afridi
11. Faheem Ashraf
12. Hassan Ali
13. Sajid Khan
14. Nauman
15. Naseem Shah

Is Naseem Shah really ready for Test duties?

Abdullah Shafique
Imam ul Haq
Saud Shakeel
Babar Azam
Fawad Alam
Mohammad Rizwan
Faheem Ashraf
Hassan Ali
Any spinner
Shaheen Afridi
Shahnawaz Dahani

got a feeling they will include someone like Imran Khan Jr or Mohammed Abbas, may struggle in the pace bowling dept.

They have announced a very strong squad. Will be very challenging to make a playing 11 that can beat this team. I would go with the following:

Abdullah Shafiq
Abid Ali (if his health is good) / Shan Masood
Saud Shakil
Babar Azam
Fawad Alam
M Rizwan
Shadab Khan
Sajid Khan
Hasan Ali
Shaheen Afridi
Naseem Shah

Kamran Ghulam
Faheem Ashraf
M Nawaz
Yasir Shah

The goal should be to take 20 wickets as soon as possible and for that, threatening bowlers are needed. Shadab and Naseem look more threatening these days than Faheem and Nauman with bowling.

Babar and Saud can be the part time bowling options.

It should not contain shadab, azhar (unless he opens) or yasir shah.

shadab has done nothing in FC cricket to get selected, whilst the latter two are finished.

One of Ghulam, Saud or Salahuddin need to play at 3.

Still coaches are about to announced. PCB still far behind from professionalism.

Abdullah
Shan
Azhar
Babar
Fawad
Rizwan
Faheem
Nawaz
Yasir
Hasan
Shaheen

Sajid
Saud
Nauman
Naseem

Is Naseem Shah really ready for Test duties?

I don’t think he will get a game but he has good Test match exposure and is looking a lot fitter and better now. Not a bad option if Hassan or Shaheen get injured.

With spin not being much of a factor in Pakistan, I think they should only play 1 spinner in the playing XI, which would be Sajid at this point.

Abdullah
Azhar
Saud
Babar
Fawad
Rizwan
Faheem
Sajid
Hasan
Shaheen
Naseem/Dhani

Since Azhar is going to play no matter what, I'd rather see him open and have Saud take over his spot and provide much needed lefties in the lineup.

Iftikhar, Yasir Shah, Zahid Mehmood, Sajid Khan and Nauman Ali should be considered.

In rawalpindi, only one spinner would be played due to pace friendly wicket, so iftikhar should be considered for an allrounder position.

But in Lahore and Karachi, 2 spinners each are required. Yasir Shah I believe would still be effective here.

Nauman and Sajid, i dont really have much hope from them but lets see

Having Mohammad NAwaz as an option wont be a bad idea.

Australia cant play spin, that needs to be remembered..

I would go with the following in Pindi.
Saud,Fawad part time spinning options.
3 man pace attack with fahim as the all rounder.
Azhar should open if Abid is unfit.

Abdullah
Azhar
Saud
Babar
Fawad
Rizwan
Fahim Ashraf
Sajid Ali
Hassan Ali
Shaheen
Naseem

For Karachi
Azhar
Abdullah
Saud
Babar
Fawad
Rizwan
Fahim ashraf
Sajid
Nuaman or Yasir
Hassan needs to open the bowling thou.
Shaheen

Squad players
Shan Masood
Kamran Ghullam
Shadab
Rohail Nazir
Yasir Shah

One of Ghulam, Saud or Salahuddin need to play at 3.

I will pick him in the first test were it's suited to pace as he can bat good enough and provide some overs with the ball. However I won't pick him for second test as it's spinning pitches normally and you need wicket taking spinners.

Azhar
Abdullah
Saud
Babar (c)
Fawad
Rizwan (WK)
Faheem
Shadab
Hassan
Nauman/Sajid
Shaheen

1) Azhar Ali
2) Abdullah Shafique
3) Babar Azam
4) Saud Shakeel
5) Fawad Alam
6) Muhammad Rizwan (WK)
7) Faheem Ashraf
8) Shadab Khan
9) Hassan Ali
10) Shaheen Shah Afridi
11) Nauman

12) Haris Rauf
13) Sajid
14) Kamran Ghulam
15) Yasir Shah

Indeed havent got any as a head coach yet, atleast who is the front runner, and there are rumours Wasim Bari 73 year old is appointed as wicket keeping consultant in HPC lol:sm

A Shaffique
Abid Ali / Fakhar Zaman
Saud shakeel
Babar
Rizwan
Fawad
Shadab / Kamran Ghulam / nawaz
Dhani / Another 3rd seamer
Shaheen
Hasan Ali
Sajid khan / nauman / yasir shah

3 seamers plus, 1 front line spinner, 5 players in top 7 can all bowl spin. Batting is solid and team looks well balance. This is how should look.

Azhar Ali needs to be dumped and time to move forward. Also with next 10 tests in Asia, no harm in having Fakhar in squad as reserve opener.

people select fahim  the guy will be cannon fodder in pakistani conditions against Aussie batsmen, shouldnt even be in the squad.

1. Abdullah Shafique
2. Imam ul Haq
3. Azhar Ali
4. Babar Azam (c)
5. Kamran Ghulam
6. Fawad Alam
7. M Rizwan (wk)
8. Faheem Ashraf
9. Hassan Ali
10. Sajid Khan
11. Shaheen Afridi

Reserves

1. Shan Masood
2. Saud Shakeel
3. Nauman Ali
4. Naseem Shah
5. Shahdab Khan

You can't judge him without giving him chances. He has done decent so far in limited chances he has been given in test cricket. He could be an asset for Pak test team in future. A quality allrounder is an asset to any team. I won't mind giving him a full season to prove himself.

Man is this is a difficult squad to name but I'll try.

1. Abdullah Shafique
2. Saud Shakeel - (couldn't think of a another opener for test cricket due to the cupboard being bare for openers)
3. Babar Azam (C) - time for Babar to establish himself a test batter. At the age of 27, now must be the time.
4. Fawad Alam
5. Kamran Ghulam - I've gone with Kamran over Ifti due to his red hot form a season or two ago. Might as well blood him into the test side.
6. Mohamamd Rizwan (WK)
7. Faheem Ashraf
8. Hasan Ali
9. Nauman Ali
10. Shaheen Shah Afridi
11. Sajid Khan - due to his fifer, he has to play against the Aussies and must retain his spot, even though I think the Aussies will probably eat him up.

12. Iftikhar Ahmed
13. Agha Ali Salman/Mohammad Nawaz
14. Haris Rauf
15. Shan Masood/Imam-ul-Haq

This is the best squad I could think of. Hopefully no more Azhar Ali please.

1. Abdullah Shafique
2. Shan Masood

4. Babar Azam
5. Fawad Alam
6. Mohammad Rizwan (c) (wk)
7. Faheem Ashraf
8. Mohammad Nawaz
9. Yasir Shah
10. Hassan Ali
11. Shaheen Shah Afridi
---------------------------------
12. Kamran Ghulam
13. Nauman Ali
14. Iftikhar Ahmed
15. Sajid Khan
16. Shahnawaz Dahani
17. Azhar Ali
18. Haris Rauf

Yes, I know Rizwan is captain, simply because I believe he should be made captain for all three formats.

Are you referring to shadab?

He should never be ahead of Nawaz in Tests as a second spinner or spin A/R.

Batting is pretty much the same, but Nawaz is the far superior bowler.

Shan, Abdullah, Azhar, Bobby, Fawad, Rizwan, Faheem, Hassan, Yasir, Shaheen, Sajid

Gut feeling that Yasir Shah will be preferred and also Abdullah and Shan will make the cut after having a good PSL.

I do not understand why posters are asking for Azhar Ali to he included as the opener - a 38 year old who can barely hold the bat anymore

100% Agree, this guy will be a walking wicket vs Aussies. Such timid batsmen are always exposed against quality bowling.

cos he's gonna try to hang on to that spot by any means till he plays 100 tests. he cant even cut it at domestic tbh, but don't see pak selectors being brave enough to drop him.

Abdullah
Azhar
K Ghulam
Babar
Fawad
Rizwan
Faheem/Nawaz
Sajid
Hasan
Shaheen
Nauman/Naseem

If you go with 3 frontline pacers pick Nawaz as the AR, if you go 2 spinners, Faheem will be the AR.

Abdullah Shafiq
Shaan Masood

Posters are including him because they know that there's no chance that he will leave without playing 100 test matches. Azhar has completely destroyed his legacy by clogging onto the spot despite his poor performances.

I will only waste my energy in thinking about our line up when i see the coin toss on our soil.

I dont trust them people.

1-Abdullah
2-Shaan
3-Saud
4-Babar
5-Fawad
6-Rizwan
7-Shadab
8-Hasan
9-Yasir
10-Sajid
11-Shaheen
12-Nassem ( 12th man )

Time to get rid of useless Azgar and also to make Shadab the bowling all rounder , instead of useless Faheem .

I will pick shadab in bisicaly in English conditions or where the team is going in with fast bowlers because Shadab has a better technique.

But in India for example both nawaz and shadab shouldn't be in the xi.i will pick 2 frontline spinners.

I rather have him opening atleast then gives a chance to Saud.

He's definitely going to be playing in the xi so I rather he opens that way saud shakeel can play at 3.

Why is Rauf playing ahead of proven domestic players such as
Some names are Mir Hamza,Irfanullah Shah,Arshad Iqbal,Sameen Gull.

Now that the squad has been picked I will go with this.2 fast bowlers 1 all rounder and 2 spinners.

Abdullah
Shan Masood
Azhar
Babar
Fawad
Rizwan
Fahim
Sajid Khan
Numan Ali
Hassan Ali
Shaheen

He wont open, hes selfishly held the number 3 hostage for last few years. We Saw Aussie bowlers destroy timid batsmen during Ashes, same thing will happen to Azhar here.

I no he won't open but I was just saying if he did open that would open the door for Saud but like you said highly unlikely he won't open.
