To be honest, the initial proposal seemed to be have been done in a little bit of haste and there were too many ifs and buts but the new confirmation seems very concrete and well thought-out.

But is it the right decision by both boards?

Better than nothing for the last 12 years.

Bad news for Australian cricket board in the modern world of social media, the BLM movement and the fact that internet is accessible for everyone. What excuse would they have left if England’s full strength squad end up coming to Pakistan? They didn’t want to go to Pakistan and Bangladesh and were getting away with it for a long time.

Cricket Australia really sucks up to the BCCI. There is very minimal chance they will tour Pakistan. The BCCI will threaten them just like they did regarding the WT20 and the IPL.

Shouldn't be so short sighted. The October time frame is much better, obviously, apart from the long wait.

Good news. Playing a top team before a WC and a full strength side coming to Pakistan is good news for future tours. Next aim should to be to have a test series against 1 of the top teams.

The Pakistan Cricket Board today confirmed England will make their first visit to Pakistan in 16 years when they will play two Twenty20 internationals in Karachi on 14 and 15 October.

England will arrive in Karachi on 12 October, and both the sides will depart for India on 16 October for the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup at the end of the series.

The England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) confirmed the tour on Tuesday evening following last month’s invite by the PCB for a short tour in January 2021.

Due to the non-availability of its top stars during that period as they will be busy in international cricket, the ECB proposed the short tour in October in the lead up to the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup, which was welcomed by the PCB.

England last toured Pakistan in 2005 when they played three Tests and five One-Day Internationals. The subsequent series between the two sides in 2012 and 2015 were played in the United Arab Emirates.

Hardly a tour - 4 or 5 days, just 2 T20Is. But I guess it's better than nothing.

Feel England should have come now, even for one game to get a feel of the place.

Attitudes can change by October

They will be allowed in at the PSL

I highly doubt that crowds would be allowed in PSL, Pakistanis are amongst the most illiterate people especially when they are in groups & it would be extremely difficult for authorities to make them follow the rules like sitting 6 feet apart in all directions.

Think England may feel safer playing without crowds - covid or not.

Lot of credit goes to Wasim Khan also. He might have pulled some strings in ECB also. CA should follow up now. Anyways we should steer clear of playing in UAE from now on

Baby steps I guess but there for only a few days.

This will probably be the way in the coming years.

Some cricket even if its mini tours like this is better than nothing, lets hope it allows for more tours to happen.
