Australia will aim to maintain their momentum when they take on Zimbabwe in the daytime fixture at Colombo’s R Premadasa Stadium on Friday. Australia head into the clash on the back of a convincing 67-run victory over Ireland, while Zimbabwe opened their tournament with a commanding eight-wicket win against Oman and will be brimming with confidence.

Despite missing their frontline fast bowlers, Australia found control and penetration through Nathan Ellis and Adam Zampa, who picked up four wickets each to stifle Ireland. Their attack appeared well-balanced, and the batting unit adapted cleverly to conditions, posting 182 on a pitch that aided the slower bowlers. It proved a match-winning total and highlighted Australia’s ability to read the surface and adjust accordingly. Another polished performance will be the goal as they push closer toward a place in the knockout stages.

Zimbabwe will also be eager to build on their strong start. Their opening triumph was powered by an incisive pace display, with Blessing Muzarabani, Richard Ngarava, and Brad Evans claiming three wickets apiece to dismantle Oman. Brian Bennett and Tadiwanashe Marumani then completed a smooth chase without alarm. While the challenge against Australia represents a significant step up, Zimbabwe will look to carry the confidence and clarity from their first outing into a sterner test.

Athan on the loudspeaker in Sri Lanka, amazing stuff.

First time experiencing this, thought it was only a tradition for muslim majority countries.

It's a day game. Australia shouldn;t have a problem chasing this down. Still it's runs on the board and a decent total.

Australia will chase this down in 17 overs. Another team strategical blunder. Big teams are always allowed to get away

Either message should have been passed or retired him out. A batsman batting entire 20 overs only to make 60 odd runs is a crime on any pitch. It looks awful given that Raza struck at 200
OK fair enough. But to be honest, I don't think there's anyone that could have scored here from their side. Ryan Burl also struggled.

It's a slow pitch with big dimensions and playing Nathan Ellis and Zampa on this pitch was always going to be tough work.

Yes!
Thats how you do it. Hold one end up and go deep, anchor.

I am sure the so called Pak cricket pundits will love this innings, since he went deep and anchored the innings.
Yes he anchored his innings but anchoring hurts in the death overs. That's where Zimbabwe missed the trick of not retiring him out.

And the tall seamer gets a wicket. Stupid from Sikander Raza to bowl himself upfront and then bowl overpitched rubbish

Australia 2 down. Zimbabwe starting to believe. But as long as Travis Head and Tim David are still there, it's Australia's game to lose

Head and Maxwell partnership crucial . Zimbus need to make sure not to let them settle

Premadasa is a difficult pitch to chase anything, teams batting first have a distinct advantage.

Australia won’t do well on such wickets, as we saw in Pakistan too.

Ngarava, Muzarabani and Brad Evans all very fine fast bowlers ... if only spinners can com in to play now .
ZIM were 131/1 in 15.5 - was shocking tbh .
128 from 78 req
