This is a bad performance by Afghanistan. I expected much better performance by them, but there is a stat for this ground that some 70% win batting second, so no doubt i get's flat as the day goes.
Does it matter if he is 17 or 22? Still an upcoming talent and is doing well at the top.
In this game you're correct its irrelevant. The reason I mentioned it is because Afg success at U19 level is often thrown about as proof that they will be better thsn NZ/WI etc. in 10 years time. Ghani is technically eligible for the next u19 WC as well but its quite obvious he is older than 17. Who knows if there are other players like him who are older than the official stats suggest,
Afghanistan has also Hamid Hassan Injured and Hamza Hotak left arm spinner. Besides They have 5-6 new players who have not played much. It's a new young team rebuilding.
Hotak I've seen before and hasnt struck me as a big loss. Hassan is a huge loss for them though. But sadly I think his career is over. Knee injuries are terrible things and it looks like his one wont go away sadly
Afghanistan batting is really bad. One guy batting all the way through you will expect the other to be aggressive around him, but they have done really bad batting wise this game and bowling has sucked as well. Though I am not worried. I think it's a young team building up. They were never going to do anything at the world cup anyway. We must remember though that Zimbabwe are at home and has much more experienced team.
They should expect to do well at WC's though. If you're going there not expecting to do anything then thats a terrible attitude. They should've learned from their t20 WC's in 2010 and 2012 but the 2014 edition leads me to believe that they havent learned their lessons
The thing is most of this team has been around for a few years now and if anything they've regressed slightly since 2012. Shehzad will probably be brought back and he is a huge liability. The likes of Mangal might even find their way back and they arent up to this level. Some of the young lads, if managed correctly, do have bright futures though I will agree
Thumping win by Zimbabwe. Did not know the difference was that big.
