Why Rizwan is playing this series? Try new opening combinations.

Rizwan/Babar are useless as openers in shorter formats. Great time to experiment.

Glad to see Tayyab getting a chance again. He has more batting intelligence than Haseebullah and Usman combined.

Even when he failed previously playing for Pakistan, he looked composed.
I think his talent was missed and he is just being given a consolation cap or 2.

Huge Series for Pakistan and specially Rizwan, need to win it convincingly to shut down haters.

Zim v Pak is now a Proper Rivalry, more like Ars v ManU of early 2000s.

Let's hope the series is entertaining

Please confirm share links

Is it Asian channels or TNT sports

Saim will develop well. He's a good talent

I don't really like Abdullah. I've watched cricket long enough to see a mental midget. I made similar comments about usama mir as well. But sure I don't mind him playing this series.

Irfan khan Niazi has been surprisingly good. He's been rubbish when it comes to running between the wickets. But as a batter He's been pretty good so far. As of now he's proven all his critics wrong. His fighting knock ahaiant Australia in t20 was a commendable effort. Had the other batters backed him he might have chased it down.

As for abrar, Problem is he's slow as molasses. Mystery spin and variation doesn't matter if you bowl at women cricket speeds.

Faisal Akram is a brighter talent imo.
Faisal.Akram.has to play all three games and not abrar but you know what i have a feeling he wont even play One!!..

Saim.can ge a great bowler like jadeja in my opinion i hope ge bowls more tham 6 overs a match

Does anyone know if Zimbabwe vs Pakistan white ball series will be screened live in UK? If yes which UK satellite channel number is that?

Mohammad Rizwan during press conference ahead of 1st ODI against Zimbabwe:

"Australia tour is past for us now. Whatever kind of cricket we played there and whatever we did there, it's past for us now. We are confident, though, as we are playing another series away from home now."

"Zimbabwe, they know the conditions, grounds, and pitches. They know everything, while we are only lacking in this area. As professionals, you should be aware of such things. The confidence we got from the Australia tour, we will keep that with us in this series as well. So, inshaAllah, we will try our best."

"The challenge is that the Pakistan team is here with a young side, and it is an opportunity for our young stars, but it's not easy to fill the spot of our senior players."

"After this series, we are heading to South Africa, so inshaAllah, we will try to get the team in good shape before that tour, which will also prepare us for the Champions Trophy. In this Zimbabwe series, we have youngsters, so we are observing them to see whom we can pick for our Champions Trophy squad."

"It's always a challenge to play a series away from home because conditions are different. We can assess early that a pitch looks a certain way, but in the end, the pitch can behave differently. The opposition team is aware of the pitch behavior and wind directions, which the home team knows, but visitors might not. These challenges can come in front of us, but as professionals, we have to take care of these things. Our youngsters are domestic performers, and they have played in the Shaheens XI. So, we are hopeful that the talent we are searching for, we will find."

"If we talk about Aaqib Javed, he has been coaching for decades. He was associated with Lahore Qalandars and has already won twice against [Multan Sultans] us. He has seen the pitch and discussed different aspects of it. The good thing is that he said to continue the momentum from Australia and keep those strategies going. However, he said I might change something slightly if needed, and I will make those adjustments. Otherwise, there is no need to change much, but if tuning is required, I will do it. In terms of experience, we all know he has the experience of the ICC ODI World Cup 1992. He will share those insights with us in the dressing room. He has already worked with our bowling group, including Shaheen Shah Afridi, Ahmed Daniyal, Haris Rauf, and others."

"I have been captaining at different levels for a couple of years. But yes, captaincy in domestic, club cricket, and departmental cricket is different. I also captained a side in franchise league, which is a little bit similar to the international level. However, there is definitely a different pressure at the international level. For example, if we see the PSL, there are five captains and here they playing under me at the international level. I feel lucky because everyone is playing like a captain. I give authority to every batter, bowler, youngster, and senior. Wherever the team demands, we all come together to meet that demand. This is what I am demanding as a leader from everyone. As I said earlier, I am only here for presentations and tasks; otherwise, my whole squad is the captain."

Pakistan and Zimbabwe will lock horns in a three-match ODI series followed by as many T20Is at the Queens Sports Club in Bulawayo from 24 November to 5 December. This will be Pakistan’s second ODI series this month after they beat Australia 2-1 earlier in November in their own backyard.

Former fast bowler and member National Men’s Selection Committee, Aqib Javed has been appointed the interim white-ball head coach of the Pakistan team until the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 at home. The ODI series against Zimbabwe will be his first assignment after he joined the team on Friday.

Pakistan’s ODI squad, led by Mohammad Rizwan, reached Zimbabwe on Wednesday and had three extensive practice sessions in the lead up to the ODI series. In the 15-member squad Arafat Minhas, Babar Azam, Naseem Shah and Shaheen Shah Afridi have been replaced with uncapped duo of Abrar Ahmed and Ahmed Daniyal along with pacer Shahnawaz Dahani and Tayyab Tahir.

Pakistan and Zimbabwe last faced each other in the 50-over format in November 2020 in Rawalpindi where Pakistan beat the visitors 2-1. Pakistan, on their last visit to Zimbabwe whitewashed the Chevrons in a five-match ODI series in July 2018.

Mohammad Rizwan, Pakistan’s ODI captain:

“The ODI series against Zimbabwe is equally important for us as we aim to test out our bench strength and plan towards the upcoming ICC Champions Trophy 2025 at home. With the help of the Almighty, we aim to keep the winning momentum from out last ODI series going.

“With the trio of our main players resting up after the Australia series, it will be exciting to see other players putting their hands up and helping the team at various times during the 50-over contests.

“Having played against the home team various times, we do expect them to put up challenges for us during the three ODIs but crucially this series will also test out temperament in terms of backing up a historic win in Australia.”

Pakistan ODI squad: Mohammad Rizwan (captain), Abrar Ahmed, Aamir Jamal, Abdullah Shafique, Ahmed Daniyal, Faisal Akram, Haris Rauf, Haseebullah, Kamran Ghulam, Mohammad Hasnain, Muhammad Irfan Khan, Salman Ali Agha (vice-captain), Shahnawaz Dahani, Saim Ayub, and Tayyab Tahir

Zimbabwe ODI squad: Craig Ervine (captain), Brian Bennett, Blessing Muzarabani, Brandon Mavuta, Clive Madande, Dion Myers, Faraz Akram, Joylord Gumbie, Richard Ngarava, Sean Williams, Sikandar Raza, Tadiwanashe Marumani, Tashinga Musekiwa, Tinotenda Maposa and Trevor Gwandu.

With lack of power hitters at no 5, 6 and 7, I think Pakistan should nail this side in for 1st game of CT ...

Fakhar
Saim
Babar
Rizwan
Salman
Irfan
Jamal
Arafat or another main spinner
Naseem
S Afridi
Haris

Plus
Abdullah or middle order batter
A Afridi
spinner
middle order batter

Don't think they can afford to go with only 4 specialist bowlers like they did vs Australia. My guess:

Abdullah
Saim
Kamran
Rizwan
Salman
Irfan
Jamal
Daniyal
Akram
Rauf
Hasnain

RIZWAN the boss.

Truly a team player - he could have sat out this series but knowing how strong the opposition is, he still decided to sacrifice himself and lead from the front to break the backs of Zimbabwe’s pace attack.

Difficult to find batters who readily put their hands up against such hostile bowlers in tough conditions.

I actually think ahmed daniyal shud be given a chance.Jamal isnt consistent enough i still think faheem is the best bowling allrounder but he is even worse i dont know i have a hunch daniyal if given a chance will excel in bowl and bat
