The smile never went off Nishant Kumar’s face. Only his voice quivered with excitement as he spoke, animatedly with hand gestures, about murdering three Muslim men on February 25.

It was an act of “retaliation”, he insisted.

The previous afternoon – Kumar is certain it was exactly 1 pm – he claimed to have witnessed a “Mohammadan” mob burn down vehicles in the Yamuna Vihar service lane that runs parallel to the Wazirabad-Loni road in North East Delhi. He was at the Bhajanpura petrol pump, fuelling up one of his lorries. He owns two of them.

“Main bhaaga us time jaan bachha ke,” said Kumar. “I fled then to save my life.”

The petrol pump was burnt down soon after. Carcasses of vehicles still lie strewn in the area.

Kumar, 29, lives in Karawal Nagar, located on the other side of the Wazirabad-Loni road. It is one of the localities that was convulsed with the worst communal violence in four decades in India’s capital that has left 47 people dead. Most of those killed are Muslims.

The violence had originally begun on February 24 as a clash between groups supporting and opposing the new Citizenship Amendment Act. The legislation enables Indian citizenship for undocumented non-Muslim migrants from the three neighbouring countries, introducing a religious criterion for Indian citizenship for the first time. With anxieties already running high over a proposed National Register of Citizens, the law’s passage in Parliament in December sparked a wave of protests, mostly by Muslims who fear CAA and NRC could be used together to disenfranchise them.

‘Kitchen knife on a rod’
The clashes on February 24 broke out near one of the protest sites, 10 km from Central Delhi, across the river Yamuna.

Houses and shops were torched in the area. Kumar said he did not incur any personal loss – yet, he hit the streets. “Aap nahi karoge aapke area waalon ko koi chedega to?” he reasoned. “Will you not react if someone goes after your neighbours?”

On the morning of February 25, Kumar said he stepped out around 8 am. He was armed with an iron rod. He tied a kitchen knife to one end of the rod to make up for the absence of a gun. “Bandook nikaalke pakde jaana hai kya?” he exclaimed. “I did not want to get caught with a gun.”

Kumar said he did not step outside Karawal Nagar. “We stay there, so we will do whatever we have to do there only, no,” he said. He refused to share details of other people who were part of the mob or how it was organised.

At around 10 am, Kumar said he got his first hit. “The Mohammadan was running,” he recalled. “The Hindu public was chasing him. I was leading the pack.”

“I was the first to catch up with him, and hit him with my rod on his head,” he continued, his voice turning shriller and his hands mimicking the strike. “Then he fell down, and the public pounced on him after that…de dhana dhan dhan.”

Kumar said he killed two more people in a similar fashion – striking Muslim men running away from Hindu mobs in the back with his improvised weapon. “I had to kill three. I did that.”

When asked if there were policemen around when he was chasing down Muslim men and hacking them, Kumar said there were none. “There was no one,” he said. “No one came even after we killed them and threw their bodies.”

The killers the police cannot find
Among the 47 people who have been killed in the violence in Delhi is an 85-year-old woman, who was burnt alive. The rest are men, most of them in their twenties and thirties, nearly half killed by gunshot injuries. Their family members have recounted unsettling accounts of witnessing their loved ones being burnt, shot, bludgeoned or hacked to death.

But little is known so far about the perpetrators of the violence. Who were the people who unleashed such unspeakable violence?

The Delhi Police have been economical with information. On March 2, Amit Mittal, a police spokesperson, told Scroll.in they had filed 254 FIRs and detained 903 people. He refused to divulge more information on those arrested. On March 3, The Indian Express, quoting unidentified sources, reported that 369 FIRs have been lodged and 33 people arrested, none of them on the charge of murder. The police have been unable to find eyewitnesses to the murders, said the report.

Scroll.in contacted the officers leading the two special investigations team constituted to probe the violence. They declined comment. The joint commissioner and the deputy commissioner of North East Delhi did not respond to multiple phone calls and messages.

However, some news reports quoting unnamed “police sources” suggested the involvement of “outsiders” and gangs from neighbouring Uttar Pradesh.

Even Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal pinned the blame on “outsiders” – as opposed to residents of the areas that saw violence.

But conversations with local residents seem to point to the contrary: among the murderous mobs were ordinary men like Kumar, with regular day jobs.

‘In self-defence’
On March 1, I walked the streets of North East Delhi, moving from one violence-torn neighbourhood to another. I even visited the relatively unscathed areas connecting these neighbourhoods.

I spoke to several young men – both Muslim and Hindu – and asked them what they were doing on February 24 and 25, the peak of the violence in Delhi. I got a range of answers: some claimed to have not stepped out of their homes at all; others said they did “whatever it took” to defend themselves. When pressed for details, they said they pelted stones and brandished rods and sticks to keep approaching mobs at bay.

Muslim youth, in particular, doggedly stuck to the self-defence narrative.

Guard turned rioter
However, Hindu men were willing to go further. Reassured by the fact that I was a Hindu – visible in religious markers like the thread around my wrist – they openly spoke of taking part in violent attacks against Muslims in tandem with security forces.

For instance, a strapping man from Maujpur, who works as a security guard at a school in Daryaganj, said he accompanied a rampaging Hindu mob in his neighbourhood. He did not kill anyone, he said. He was not well-equipped – all he had was an iron bar.

But now he claimed he was in talks with an acquaintance to procure a licensed gun. “I have been told it will cost Rs 3.5 lakh,” he said. “But it is a worthy investment. After what happened last week, we need a gun for self-defence.”

‘You are a Hindu, that is why I am telling you’
The most chilling and explicit account came from a 32-year-old cab driver, who drove me on Sunday afternoon. The driver, who works for a taxi app service, was initially reluctant to speak, but gradually opened up as we crossed the Yamuna into North East Delhi.

“Tum Hindu ho isiliye bol raha hoon, varna yeh sab bolne ki cheez nahi hai,” he said. “You are a Hindu, that is why I am telling you. Otherwise, these are not things you talk about.”

A resident of Ghonda’s Arvind Nagar, he spoke about the night of February 25 when he claimed he went to the Muslim-majority neighbourhood of Chandbagh. “There our Hindu brothers are fewer in number,” he offered by way of explanation about the choice of place.

Arvind Nagar and Chandbagh lie on either side of the Wazirabad-Loni road, three km apart.

The driver claimed he was armed with a gun and a sword. “The gun in my left hand and the sword in the right one,” he said. “My aunt said she was reminded of my father. He would step out just like that during the 1984 riots.”

In 1984, Delhi witnessed large-scale anti-Sikh violence, perpetrated largely by Hindus. “Uss time papa ne uss talwar ko khoon pilaya tha, iss baar maine usko rang diya,” he beamed. “At that time [1984], my father fed the sword with blood, this time I coloured it red.”

The driver said his father, who died in 2003, had migrated from Uttar Pradesh’s Bulandshahr well before he was born. A Class 8 dropout, the driver was married in 2010 and has two children.

‘Great satisfaction about what we did’
On February 25 evening, when the Hindu men from Arvind Nagar reached Chandbagh, the first thing they did was cut off the electricity, the driver claimed. “We knew, of course, which houses belonged to Muslims,” he said.

Areas in North East Delhi where violence broke out are largely mixed localities, but with Muslim enclaves within larger Hindu localities and vice-versa.

After cutting off the electricity, the driver said the Hindu men went on a killing spree. “Saalon ki ginti kam kar di – humaare dil me tassalli hai humnein joh haath se karaa,” he said. “We reduced their numbers – there is great satisfaction about what we did with our hands.”

The driver, however, refused to share how many people he killed that night. The bodies, he claimed, were dumped in a sewage canal that runs through the area.

“Ab dhire dhire naale ki pol khulegi, saale itne kankal niklenga na wahan se,” he said. “The secrets that lay buried in the canal will come out sooner than later. Bloody, there will be so many skeletons that will surface from there.”

A new India?
The willingness of Hindu men to talk in graphic detail about inflicting violence on Muslims, sociologist Sanjay Srivastava said, was the result of a “new context” in India “where you don’t have to keep these things to yourself and you can say it in public and be praised for it in your social circle”.

“You say these things to institutionalise and naturalise the notion that India is a Hindu nation,” he said.

The lorry owner, Nishant Kumar, for instance, had no qualms about being identified by name in this article.

“Fundamentally, what has changed is not the nature of the people,” Srivastava said, “but the larger atmosphere in which people can express what they think and what ought to happen in the future.”

‘We really slayed them’
The driver claimed the security personnel stationed in the area actively supported his group. “They said: you give us the weapons, we will give you dead bodies,” he said.

Asked why security forces would ask for weapons from them, he explained: “Their bullets are accounted for, so they can’t fire from their weapons. For us getting guns is no big deal. All our friends are from Etawah, Agra, Haryana where guns abound.”

The driver claimed he was not affiliated with any Hindu right-wing organisation. He said he acted on his own along with his friends, after having heard stories of “rapes and murders” of Hindu women. There have been no reported incidents of sexual violence so far during the mob attacks.

He did not elaborate how the Hindu men mobilised themselves, but was emphatic that it had nothing to do with the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh, the ideological parent of the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party, or its many offshoots.

“People are saying it is RSS, Bajrang Dal. No, it is Hindus,” he said.

As a parting shot, he added: “Bahut dabaa ke kaata saalon ko – we really slayed them [Muslims]. Why else do you think they are going around begging for peace?”

Headlines like killing someone with a sword or riding a horse and planting a flag nonsense just seems too perfect fit for the kind of news that resonates with a few if you know what I mean.

I mean who in the year in 2020 is still using swords in genocide especially when the common narrative is that a center sponsored one .

It's not outwith the bounds of reality in third world countries. As recently as 1994, the main weapon was machetes to carry out the large scale genocide in Rwanda.

Rwanda 1994 and India 2020 is a huge difference.

Besides that, going by the same example of Rwanda or what happened even during the genocide in Bangladesh or later in Srilanka when the govt went after the LTTE the govt doesn’t start by targeting the local panwalla or a guy working in a private firm. They go after intellectuals and influencers.

Had some Muslim poet, professors, actors, businessmen been killed and their properties taken over I would be panicking along with the Pakistanis as well. Again I am not justifying the killing of a poor man but that seems more like a law and order riot than a targeted genocide

Well according to the reports, the goons and mobs were running amok with rods, so you wouldn't put it past them to be using swords if they were able to get their hands on them. Even in this article, it talks about the thug using a rod with knife attached to the end.

If you look at images from the Gujarat massacres, you'll also see goons with swords.

The nation is in the dumps.

There are killers roaming around.

Then there are pathetic humans with no moral compass who will defend anything.

I am SOOO ANGRY NOW.

I think it's best I don't comment more for the time being.

Muslims are being killed in Chennai ?

You know that people protesting are Muslims and even some Hindus and other communities who are anti-BJP right?

Wouldn’t the government start by massacring them using police force rather than sending some “goons with swords and horses and rods” to kill a poor innocent guy minding his own business?

Whatever opinion one can have of Modi or Amit Shah but one thing everyone knows is they are not dumb. Why would they send goons and sponsor genocide and create a hostile environment especially when Trump was visiting?

I am not in denial that there is a hostile environment in a part of Delhi and even the protestors have no clue what they are protesting against and then sure there is a section that might be rabid against them but as I said it is a riot and I agree where even some innocent Hindus have lost their lives to some rabid goons and some Hindus were hurt even saving their Muslim neighbors. It is the failure of the state government in seeking center intervention.

We can discuss the admin failure of state and if it is as extreme as we are told then the center to. Or step in. However calling it a genocide or ethnic cleansing is dumb and being ignorant.

Some of these Indians have problems reading. It says in the article that these guys roamed around with make shift swords and rods adapted to be like swords for maximum damage.

If you had all this video on as well this rabble still wouldn't believe it.

So this guy is bragging about killing three man but still hasn’t been arrested? How does that work?

Read The Origins of Totalitarianism and what Arendt has to say about the police force in a fascist country. The same thing applies here

So this guy is bragging about killing three man but still hasn’t been arrested? How does that work?

Just like Gujrat rapists and killers are on camera openly admitting they raped and killed. Undercover cameras of course. All praising dear Modi and how he got them off.

This was 2002.

Their dear leader is PM now.

Police was complicit. How many sanghis have they convicted for demolishing babri masjid or bombing Samjhota express ?

Gujarat Files: Anatomy of a Coverup.https://www.amazon.com/Gujarat-Files-Anatomy-cover-up/dp/1533341524

Gujarat Files is the account of an eight-month long undercover investigation by journalist Rana Ayyub into the Gujarat riots, fake encounters and the murder of state Home Minister Haren Pandya that brings to the fore startling revelations. Posing as Maithili Tyagi, a filmmaker from the American Film Institute Conservatory, Rana met bureaucrats and top cops in Gujarat who held pivotal positions in the state between 2001 and 2010. The transcripts of the sting operation reveal the complicity of the state and its officials in crimes against humanity. With sensational disclosures about cases that run parallel to Narendra Modi and Amit Shah’s ascent to power and their journey from Gujarat to New Delhi, the book tells you the hushed truth of the state in the words of those who developed amnesia while speaking before commissions of enquiry, but held nothing back in the secretly taped videos which form the basis of this remarkable read.

Written by Rana Ayub?

Thrown out in the court of law, when presented as evidence and called one persons opinion and bereft of facts?

You know for a fact that certain Indians are going to pop up in every thread dismissing any evidence against Hindutva intolerance in India. They are following a pattern of re-engineering these stories to blame the victims instead, a pattern which has been consistent from these propaganda machines since Gujarat 2002 which saw the emergence of their Dear Leader.

Surely you cant blame Indians here though. If every 2nd thread here is a lie about how innocent muslims are targetted in India obviously Indians will defend it. How about presenting the other side of the story for a change? Both hindus and muslims are killed in this riot but we potray only plights of muslims here. OP posted from Scroll, a third grade leftist propaganda tabloid. I can also start picking alt articles from right wing journals like Op India or Swaraj and post a thread here every minute. Yesterday only there was a video surfaced in Indian media about how muslim women in Delhi pelting stones at a police commissoner before he was shot dead.

Imagine a group of hindus raising slogans in the heart of Lahore " Musalmano se azaadi" or "15 crore hindus enough to kill all muslims" etc.

These are considered as freedom of speech for minorities in India.

So he killed 3 muslims and still roaming freely and on top of that he is feeling proud? Wow.

Robert , is it time for Indians to read The Grapes of Wrath ?

I guess you havent lived through the eighties in pakistan and the nineties when this used to happen regularly. Cals for azaadi from pakistan by the muhajirs, the pasthuns, the sindhis..

Even then during the height of the troubles in pakistan I never witnessed or heard of anything to compare with Gujrat where pregnant women had their wombs cut open.

Of course you;ll deny it as if nothing happened but youll digest anything the "world" says about Pakistan. Thats is why the Indian internet community is reviled and is full of fascists enablers, pogrom deniers, articulate hypocrites and racists..

Its because they are fascists and racists..obsessed with their own perceived victimhood..let them.theyll just end up creating a hell hole in their own country..

You put a random name and then add 100 things attributing to that name. Is that how things get proven?

There are 10s of such articles about Hindus who were killed, or suffered in the riots.

This isnt going to stand the scrutiny of a proper editorial board, let alone the courts.

I think it just shows how violent the Indian population is. As cricketjoshila and Rajdeep have said, Indian Muslims are violent, and as the article shows, Indian Hindus are violent. Maybe the world should start realising the dangers of these violent men with a high statistical probability of rape as well in the nation and not import this model into White countries?

The only thing that is shinning in India are the flames of fire.

I know there are good Indians here that are against all this, but the others here, the extremists, they will defend their extremist government no matter what.

Are they good Indians or just aware enough to not spread extremism on a Pakistani site? I can see some extremists are here already.

There are some closet hindu fanatics here as well who refuse to believe or accept despite the mounting evidence that hindu fanatics are involved in Muslim genocide with the help of the Indian government.

They will keep telling you it’s “riots” both Hindus and Muslims are killing each other. While Muslims may also be involved in danga fasad during protests, they don’t like to admit that now the situation has changed to a full blown operation with rss, BJP ghundas and killers activated. And they only want blood.

Indian Muslims should start working on creating their own militant wing. This is the only way they can defend themselves. Congress and other political parties won’t do crap to defend them anymore

None of it is true unfortunately as much as you wish it to be.

For the umpteenth time -
1) It all started with CAA bill which passed in both houses of parliament after detailed discussion and becomes a law.

2) CAA has nothing (absolutely nothing) to do with any Indians living in India. It is to give citizenship to all persecuted religious minorities from Pak, Afg and BD, except muslims bcoz muslims are not minorities in those countries.

3) The protest started with Assam bcoz they feared many persecuted minorities from BD will settle in their land and take their livelihood. Assam protest was well justified and everyone supported it that time.

4) Assam protest ended in exactly 3 days but it gave a sinister ploy to opposition parties and left wing liberals. They somehow spread the message and brainwashed people that CAA bill will remove all muslims living in India.

5) Country wise mass protest has been launched based on this lie even after Home minister reminding everyone that not a single Indian muslim will be affected due to this law.

6) For almost 3 months now, Shaheen Bagh in Delhi is a boiling spot due to this lie. Roads are blocked, civil disobidience and disturbance to public.

7) Organised riots in the name of CAA exactly on the days of Donald Trump visit just to potray govt in bad light which killed 40 odd people.

Why, when and how is BJP/RSS responsible for it? Just blaming somebody for the sake of blame without knowing all the details is harmful.

How many riots do you know about in India? What was their casualty list?

When was the last major riot?

How many riots have taken place in India since 1980 and in how many were Bjp in power?

There are plenty of global conglomerates and world wide renowned institutions available if that was the intention. I don't think they would be having difficulty gaining employment.

Sarcasm apart I am not sure how you can say that with a straight face when this exact militant version is what has given rise to islamophobia in the world.

I am glad Indian Muslims for the most part are the most moderate, liberal, secular and patriotic Muslims any where in the world. Sure there are a few bad apples may be a few more than other communities owing to the political leaders and religious leaders but you can't look at those to form judgements.

What happened in Bangladesh in early 70's and late 60's is a genocide. That in fact is a template for what genocide means.

This is like saying US is in a state of civil war or Whites are doing genocides against the blacks when a news of a beat cop shooting a random Hispanic or black gangbanger pops up, Yes there could be a racial bias or it could just be a case of a criminal getting what he deserves, both sides can be debated but doesn't qualify as "genocide"

I think in Pakistan the world genocide is thrown around casually.

Hindus are taking revenge for centuries of humiliation and losses but are burning their own house in the process.

As compared to their predecessors, modern day indian hindus driven by hindutva ideology could have fared better against many invaders who used to make routine visits to their lands. At least there is something to them now.

Why is the world against innocent BJP and its great leaders?

Journalists. Thankfully a few of them stand for the truth and represent us properly.

Muslim loving Hindooos. The lowest of lowest scums. :))

Sickulars. Next only to the above gang.

International media. All are traitors. Only Trump is good and maybe a few others.

Everyone except those in their close circles. World won't understand what we truly stand for.

They are all trying to hurt us.

Don't fall into the trap.

Be woke.

Be a bhakt.

I am fine bud.

Life will go on.

There was a overseas Pak poster here who once commented that Indians in this forum are the voice of reason.

My god...if he sees the state of Indians here....lol.

The only silver lining here (if we can call it that) is that this has completely exposed the credibility of the BJP fans.

Nothing they say will ever be taken seriously (by everyone outside their circle). :))

Let them carry on with their propaganda.

We have bigger battles to fight.

Can feel your pain, brother. Sometimes the replies you get on your posts shock you.

Yeah it can be.

Not an ounce of empathy or understanding of what's really going on.

Constant victim mentality and blaming others (as if they are supporting killers).

It takes time but eventually the other side gets immune to it and those tactics stop working. :))

Headlines like killing someone with a sword or riding a horse and planting a flag nonsense just seems too perfect fit for the kind of news that resonates with a few if you know what I mean.

I mean who in the year in 2020 is still using swords in genocide especially when the common narrative is that a center sponsored one .

A perfect example of how to deflect the news. A bad work by someone who is trying to blame victims and defending the criminals of BJP, but none the less, an example.

The only silver lining in all of these is...left wing liberals have got totally exposed and their masks are totally off. Such is their state that they have to hide under Akash Banerjee's tweet :))

If the slap of 23rd May 2019 was not enough to knock some sense on few....another big phainta awaits in 2024.

BJP fans will ignore the article linked in the tweet and focus on who tweeted.

A LIVE example of how they process information. :))

Who is blaming victims? What part of loss of any innocent life is unacceptable that I explicitly quoted did you miss?

However making this looks like some kind of a medieval crusade involving horses and swords seems very purposeful to resonate with a few.

Rest of my thoughts I have covered in my earlier posts so won't repeat myself.

BJP ideology is midieval.

you think you are invincible? not that difficult to see through your comment.

Some people are so disgusting. They will go to any extent to defend these inhumane acts.

Agreed sad to see this being given a religious angle when both Hindus and Muslims are losing lives due to the law and order issue going out of hand caused by a few idiots who don't even know what they are protesting against.

Ladies & Gentlemen,

An insight into the mind of an extremist.
Hitler would be so proud.

As compared to *our* predecessors, modern day indian hindus driven by hindutva ideology could have fared better against many invaders who used to make routine visits to *our* lands. At least there is something to them now.

There. Fixed it.

Written by Rana Ayub?

Thrown out in the court of law, when presented as evidence and called one persons opinion and bereft of facts?

Same courts that have not convicted a single person of demolishing Babri Masjid or bombing Samjhota Express?

So the people burning Muslim homes and mosques and businesses are good Samaritans! They are not outsiders pulled in to target Muslims? Is police not helping them?

How thick you and the rest of your Indian friends here can get?

Nobody wants to address the elephant in the room. You guys are nothing but apologists for a genocide!

What’s happening with then, we see it in videos, international news media, your own hindu media experts who have the decency to call a spade a spade.. are you seriously turning a blind eye to all that mounting evidence! How can you come here and defend the indefensible! It’s utterly pathetic!

The old pants down test eh? Good to see some traditions are still there from partition slaughterfest in the 1940s.

What was that old Stanley Kubrick film called which starred Jack Nicholson? Oh yeah...The Shining.

Funny thing is other forums I go to you see most Indians condemning it. Even on reddit Indians had helplines set up, hotlines set up etc. Only PP seems to attract these Modi-Hindutva-murder lovers.

Sorry but it appears to me that you have no answer to my detailed explanation. The elephant in the room is the misrepresenting the CAA bill by opposition and potray it as anti muslims which clearly its not. That is the trigger point of the riot.

And what do you mean by muslims houses are being burnt? What makes you think hindus are not bring attacked? You are just hearing one side of the story. Ever heard of Tahir Hussain and how he instigate rioters, stabbed IB Officer Ankit Sharma more than 400 times (forensic report).

What do you mean by 'we see attacks in videos?' Again sorry to say you are just watching one sided videos. Have you seen the videos how muslim women in Shaheen baag is attacking the police officer before he was shot dead? Have you seen the video where a party leader says "15 crore muslims enough to kill 100 crore Indian hindus?"

Pls let me know if you need links of such videos and I can provide you plenty.

Look this is riot and when it happens people both ends die like in a war. Stop patronising that only hindus are attacking muslims which is so far from truth that its hilarious.

The main issue and root cause of this riot is - Liberals, leftists and muslims in India were burning like charcoal since article 370 was revoked in Kashmir and Ayodhya dispute was settled in favour of Hindus. But they couldnt be vocal about it since their nationalism will be questioned if they support seperatist movement in Kashmir or disagree with Supreme court verdict regarding Ayodhya. Citizenship bill gave them a golden oppurtunity to take their frustration out and peddle the agenda. Why you think 'Free Kashmir' posters were waived in anti CAA protests?

You think people of India are stupid? They can clearly see what the motive and who is behind this riots. People of this country will respond it appropriately in next election.

I would like to see one video .. just one.. where police are escorting and protecting Muslim rioters..

I have seen at least 8 where they are helping saffron clad thugs beating up men, women, burning houses and desecrating mosques.. with cops directing them

Lets be clear, no one is blaming ordinary Hindus and its tragic that decent law abiding Hindu citizens have also perished in the carnage. It is the Hindutva goons who are responsible for all the death and destruction in north east Delhi.

I feel so sad for the little children who have been witness to their fathers being dragged out from their homes and onto the streets. Only to be clubbed and hacked to death in cold blood by these Hindutva fanatics and their supporters while the children plead for them to stop.

Fantastic image of their country - shining India, these goons are portraying to the rest of the world.

I have Indian friends (muslims and Hindus) and Hindus are actually more vocal in expressing their dismay over what’s going on.

It seems the anonymity of internet really brings out some true and ugly faces who simply want to defend their beloved genocidal leader no matter what..

Then they have the gall to come here and call us taliban sympathizers. Haha

What's even more pathetic is the support of the rss and bjp from the western right wing. They literally using phrases like "Hindus are the real victims". "the leftist are not telling the truth about india". As if western leftists have anything to do with this slaughter.

Right wingers are the most miserable humans on this earth.

And Indian vermin on PP were defending this Yogi.

I don't understand, they clearly keep on saying its a battle of religions. And want Muslims out. Yet we have Pakistan which they don't accept either.

I have not personally heard anybody supporting Hindus in the west. Right or left wing.. because these Delhi events were completely staged just like gujarat and any sane person can see how the gears are turning in the back.. this time a lot of educated Indians were vocal in their condemnation which is commendable.

Congress had managed to keep a lid on the true nature of the hindu extremist element all those years and now they are all just coming out of the woodwork thanks to their current leader who has emboldened them.

The contents of this video are no surprise. India has become fascist and being a very backward country run by buffoons, it's only natural that its now indulging in the kind of politics and policies that were being implemented by the likes of Germany, Italy and Spain 80-90 years ago.

I liked the guy in the video who said, normally like the Nazis would rally the bigots by saying the Jews are richer, taking all our money etc these lot can't do that in India as by every metric Muslims are the worst. The poorest. So the rhetoric 'they are dominating us, taking our money, can't be used here, so the only one left to us is the past defeats Hindus suffered. Babri Masjid issue being one.

And these morons, especially so-called doctors on PP too are falling for it.

Why will anyone sue a flop writer who earns money by hindu bashing and whose credibility was thrown out by the supreme court. She couldn't produce anything in the court. Nothing.

It took 72 years for the ram mandir case to be judged. Indian judiciary is slow.

'
I cannot find my father's body': Delhi's fearful Muslims mourn riot dead

As Mohammad Arshad’s body was brought into the courtyard, his lifeless face covered in a white shroud, the wailing began. The 22-year-old house painter, who had been beloved by his six sisters and would always bring them fruit when he finished work, had died a brutal death two days earlier. He had been killed because he was Muslim.

Several of Arshad’s sisters reached out to touch his cold bruised cheeks. “Please wake up, brother,” they cried. “Wake up. Please open your eyes.”

Arshad’s death is just a small fragment of the devastating legacy of the riots that engulfed Delhi last week – the worst religious violence in the capital in decades. For four consecutive days, Hindu mobs of thousands roamed the streets of north-east Delhi, destroying Muslims’ houses and shops, and lynching or killing Muslim residents. The bodies of the dead are gradually being returned to families but the thousands of Muslims who fled their homes in the riots are mostly still too afraid to go back.

While there was retaliation on both sides, the majority of the violence was carried out against Muslims. A senior Delhi government health department official told the Guardian that of the 49 found dead so far from the violence, 35 were Muslim. More bodies were still being recovered from the drains more than a week on.

Last Wednesday had begun as a normal day for Arshad, who had left for work on his motorcycle accompanied by two Hindu friends. But in the Delhi neighbourhood of Karaval Nagar, a mob of around 30 Hindus had descended, demanding to know their religion. According to a witness, Arshad kept quiet, so the mob forced down his trousers. On seeing he was circumcised, as is common among Muslims in India, the mob instantly beat him to death. His bloodied body was later found in a gutter, his pants still around his ankles.

At his funeral on Monday, held in his uncle’s hometown of Ghaziabad, Uttar Pradesh, Arshad’s 15-year-old sister Ayesha broke into a furious, grief-ridden rage and began pointing her finger angrily at an onlooker she presumed to be Hindu.

“Why have you killed my brother?” said Ayesha. “His body bears many torture marks. You tortured my brother brutally and murdered him. Do you know what a nice person he was? Did you not hesitate to kill him? I know you killed him just because he was Muslim. Why do you hate some people in society? Does your religion teach you to kill people of other religions? Shed the hatred from your heart.”

While the violence may have abated, the hatred and fear that the riots stirred up among communities in Delhi, where Hindus and Muslims had until last week lived peacefully side-by-side, remains potent. In the aftermath, even in unaffected areas of Delhi, an exodus of Muslim families began this week, with swathes packing up their bags and returning for good to their home villages, fearing for their safety in the capital.

In a prayer ground in Mustafabad, a makeshift relief camp had been set up for over a thousand Muslim families who had fled the violence and still could not return home, out of fear over their safety or simply because their houses and all their worldly possession had been looted, destroyed or burned. Food, shelter and medical care was being given out to those who had lost everything.

Noor Jahan, 48, who lived in Shiv Vihar, said she did not feel she could go back to her home. She had run away as the mobs descended but not before hearing the taunts of the rioters, that she said still haunted her. “They shouted ‘come out, come out, we will **** you and you will give birth to [Hindu gods] Ram and Hanuman’,” she recalled with a shudder.

“How can I go back, it is not safe there,” said Jahan. “People are saying that the rioters were outsiders but they had local knowledge, they knew which houses were the Muslim houses to attack, so it means local people helped them, my Hindu neighbours helped them. So I plan to either go back to my village or move to a Muslim-majority area in Delhi.”

Many once affluent families suddenly found themselves ruined overnight. Mohammad Akhtar had built up his successful business as a milkman from nothing. But his 14 water buffalo, worth millions of rupees, were stolen in the riots, his family house was looted and destroyed, and his whole family was sheltering in the camp, reliant on donations. Having lived in a Hindu-majority area, most of his customers had been Hindus. “We own our house so we have to go back, but I am scared it will be unsafe for us to live there,” said his wife Raseena Akhtar, 40. “We have nothing left now.”

For the children who witnessed the violence, the trauma was evident. Sehliza Naaz, nine years old, lay under a makeshift tent looking pallid and staring blankly into the middle distance. She and her family had fled their house in the neighbourhood of Shiv Vihar around midnight on Tuesday as the buildings around them had begun to be set on fire by Hindu mobs. They had walked over an hour to Mustafabad, which is a Muslim-majority area.

“She is not sleeping and she keeps repeating the same question – ‘why did they burn the mosques’,” said her grandmother Shahida Begum,as she gently stroked her granddaughter’s forehead.

In Shiv Vihar, from where they and many others had escaped, almost every Muslim home lay in blackened ruins, and two mosques looked like bomb sites. For three days, Hindu rioters attacked Shiv Vihar’s Muslim localities and ran mayhem without any resistance from police. The mobs repeatedly used gas canisters as weapons, setting them alight and exploding them in Muslim properties so that the walls crumbled entirely.

Abdul Kalam, a Muslim man who fled Shiv Vihar on Tuesday night, described how “over 1,000” men had arrived in the neighbourhood on trucks. “Most of them wore helmets to hide their identity and shield their heads from possible stone attacks… Apart from being armed with pistols, iron rods, crowbars, hammers and other heavy tools, the attackers also carried gas cylinders, big jerry cans of acid and petrol,” said Kalam.

The families sheltering in Mustafabad and other neighbourhoods spoke repeatedly of their fears of returning to the places they had called home. Hasmata, 75, said her son had gone back to their house this week to pick up some possessions and had been confronted by Hindu neighbours. “They said to him: ‘Why have you come back? You should not be here anymore’. Even though that is our home, they chased him away.”

One week on, some are still looking for relatives who went missing, and living with the agony of uncertainty. Sitting outside GTB hospital, where most of the bodies were taken, Gulshan, 27, wept freely as she waited for the DNA results to confirm that a body brought in was that of her father. His body had been so badly burnt that only his right leg was found. “I depended on my father for everything,” she said. “What will I do now?”

Meanwhile, Mohammad Nawab, a rickshaw driver, said he had been frantically searching for his father for days. His father had gone to an Islamic congregation at Kasabpura, New Delhi last Tuesday, in an area that was hit by violence, and had not been seen since.

“Many people are searching for the bodies of their relatives,” said Nawab.” I am searching for my father’s body too. I visited morgues of two hospitals. I could not find my father’s body there. Every day one or two bodies are being recovered from drains and other places. I shall keep visiting the morgues until I find his body.”

“He was a pious man, he never harmed anyone,” he added.

Nawab said he was packing up his life in Delhi and returning with his family to his village in Uttar Pradesh. “I cannot sleep at night whenever it comes to my mind that my father might have been lynched for being a Muslim,” he said. “I have decided to leave Delhi and return to my village. Delhi is unsafe for all Muslims.”
Its heart breaking to read, this is a war crime involving the Indian security forces and Hindutuva fascists.

This is absolutely horrific.

Bro, how many articles are you going to put on here? This is just one of many similar and the atrocities in the article, just a few of the many that took place.

I have not personally heard anybody supporting Hindus in the west. Right or left wing.. because these Delhi events were completely staged just like gujarat and any sane person can see how the gears are turning in the back.. this time a lot of educated Indians were vocal in their condemnation which is commendable.

look at the right wingers on twitter. the sheep dont ever stop

We need to draw attention to the Massacre in our own little way. By shining the light on the atrocities will hopefully force the Worid to take notice and save lives.

It wouldn't surprise me if this is only the beginning and things are going to get a lot worse from now onwards.

You put a random name and then add 100 things attributing to that name. Is that how things get proven?

There are 10s of such articles about Hindus who were killed, or suffered in the riots.

This isnt going to stand the scrutiny of a proper editorial board, let alone the courts.

I think you would do well to educate yourself. There are lots of lessons in history, and if you study it correctly and enact those lessons, history may look favorably on you. However, if you choose to be blinded by tribalism, history will not look well for you and your kind. Almost all Western news outlets are reporting this riot as a pogrom (I don't know if you know the meaning of this word, I would suggest you look it up if you are confused). Historical precedent will support the use of this vocabulary.

There is tons of evidence online showing police either allowing violence against Muslims in this instance in Delhi, or joining in. The overwhelming majority of those killed were Muslim. Only conclusion is Delhi police is either A. Incompetent, B. Vile, or C. Cowards. You pick whichever narrative you would like to bray from the rooftops, but the facts are pretty much indisputable. The purpose of this act was to displace Muslims living in Delhi. They have succeeded. The strange thing is, I don't see many Hindu families packing up and moving to poorer states.

The gauntlet has been thrown. A message has been sent throughout India. Hindu nationalists who commit these types of crimes will not face justice. People like you are sowing blood, and eventually it will come to your doorstep.

Do not respond with an argument about the crimes visited upon Bangladesh by the Pakistani government. Those too, were heinous acts. This too, will be remembered likewise.

I guess Hindus really hate Muslims, Hindus are treated very fairly in Bangladesh. Some are even MPs and hold higher position government jobs. It's a shame Hindus wants to destroy such a peaceful religion. Rohingas and now this, Qayamat is near.
