Irfan Pathan slams Pakistani players' behaviour during Pakistan vs India Super Four rivalry:
“India played outstanding cricket against Pakistan. It was a convincing win, and India doesn’t need to say much — we just keep winning and moving forward.”
“Abhishek Sharma revealed in the post-match presentation that Pakistani players said things they shouldn’t have. That’s why when Abhishek, Shubman Gill, and others posted on social media, the message was clear: you keep talking, we’ll keep winning.”
“We Indians have always quietly played our cricket. But don’t expect that if you start something, we will remain silent. Whether it’s Australians, Pakistanis, or anyone else — if you begin, we will reply. We will respond with our bat and also with our words.”
“Some old players across the border cannot digest this. They make shows in my name, talk about me on social media and TV. I’m honestly happy — if your livelihood runs because of my name, keep doing it. But when Pakistan lost to Zimbabwe in the 2022 World Cup, we Indians didn’t even bother to tweet because it didn’t matter to us. We only talk when you play against us.”
“If you poke us, we won’t spare you. That has always been our principle. Some say ‘say it to our face’ — but I’ve dismissed those players 10, 11 times already. I’ll dismiss them a 12th time too. If they can’t survive on the field, how will they survive off the field?”
“What happened yesterday with Farhan’s gestures and Haris Rauf’s behaviour was unnecessary. I used to think Haris was a decent boy, but his actions showed otherwise. On the field you play cricket — win or lose, that’s fine. But taking it personally and doing such things is wrong.”
“Our skill level is far higher than most teams, especially our neighbours. We don’t need banter — they need it. When Indian cricket goes on a break, the neighbouring media runs out of breath because their views and livelihood stop. But Indian cricket is strong — if one sponsor leaves, another comes in. We are grateful and we respect that.”
“This is the new India. Don’t ever think you can misbehave and we will stay silent. This India doesn’t let things go.”
