“Picking Ahmed Shehzad in the Pakhtoon team is to help him revive his confidence" : Shahid Afridi

https://www.brecorder.com/2017/11/11/380430/afridi-reveals-why-shehzad-is-not-performing/

In an interview, the captain and icon player of T10 league’s franchise Pakhtoons said, “Picking Shehzad in his team is to revive his confidence. Shehzad is a talented player. I don’t know if he is comfortable playing with me.”

Afridi and Shehzad share a well known friendship on and off the field and were known for their selfies together. “His is an aggressive player which is good for this format as well,” he said. “I feel if he plays his natural game, he will perform better.”

“When Shehzad starts defensive cricket, he can’t perform,” Afridi claimed. “Overall it is good to have him on board for the league,” he added.

Shehzad, who had a disappointing run at the ICC Champions Trophy, managed to keep place in the squad for World XI tour of Pakistan and Sri Lanka series. However, his lack of form continues during the series against Sri Lanka.

I dont know to laugh or cry every time i see peeps calling shezad an agressive batsmen LOL.

Even his domestics stats are very average.
Such a joke this is.

Good news for Pak team.

He ain't coming back to team anytime soon now. He's forgotten what it means to work hard. Both him and Chota Akmal.

All our openers are better than him.

Plus, always hated nepotism and always will.

Thank god Afridi is no longer captain with his blind favouritism for Shehzad.

Afraid I is also responsible for destruction of Shehzad and Akmal. All of his buddies have regressed badly

The worst person to be around when you're struggling for form with the bat.

I guess the format will force him to go for it so let's hope he rediscovers something from the exercise

Afridi was the start of fall of Pakistan cricket...1999 to 2016.he destroyed a generation of batsmen eho blindly copied him

He has no right to even talk about batting

Shehzad is like the Imran Farhat of the 2000s.

We know he is not of international level but you just can't get rid of him.

Afridi shouldn't get criticism for fall of Shehzad. It is all on Misbah's hands. It's no secret that during Misbah era almost all batsmen loved to play dot dot dot and then big shot style of batting. They didn't care about rotation of strike. All they care about getting their share of 30s and 40s. Hafeez is another prime example who cherished on selfish knocks.

Sarfraz and Mickey have really helped our batsmen get out of this mental block.

He has gotten progressively worse since those days. I just liked the way he used to go about it in U 19

He was pretty good in his early career. I'm sure 2009 warm up match against India rings some bell to some guys or the way he batted in SA. He always had these shots that are needed from an aggressive opening player but he completely modified his batting style during Misbah's era.

Yes Misbah was the prime reason of his failures in champions trophy while all other pak players were performing . Also it was Misbah who asked the Siri Lankan bowlers not to let Ahmad Shehzad score even in double digits .Misbah has retired from LOIs for last 2.5 years , then what has held ahmad back from getting rid of tuk tukkkkk?

Actually Shehzad played his best knocks when Misbah was his captain, surely people don't have something to say about that MRSN

The guy struggles to score runs at a good pace. Picking him for T10 where there would be even more pressure to score quickly is only going to make his situation worse. To add to that the pressure of no letting down your idol and hero. Shehzad is only going to be more nervous than he usually is. Let's see!

Look there is no doubt Shehzad is a limited player, always has been but all I'm saying he had this attacking game where he could find gaps and could make use of PP overs but during Misbah's era he looked far too cautious and instead of making use of PP overs which was expected from him he would block everything in an effort to play a long innings which was not his game. I think it doesn't help when you have ODI batsmen like Hafeez,Misbah around you.

Those knocks actually gave him confidence to continue playing that way as he was being successful. But I'm sure you know his starts. Remember the game vs BD when we were chasing almost 330? He scored hundred but it was in his typical style slow slow and then pacing his innings. If it was not for Afridi we would have lost that game with that rubbish start. The only quality knock I remember from him where he played every ball on merit was his hundred against SA.

scoring 100 is not considered a great knock. It depends how they are scored.

He started in 2009 now you tell me how good he was in his first years when his buddy was calling the shots.

I'm just pointing this fact out, that it is factually incorrect Misbah made him play slow, that means during Azhar's and Sarf's era he played even slower and got even worse off than he was when Misbah was captain.

no Misbah didn't made him play slow but during that era playing slow was actually encouraged and rewarded. The only thing mattered during those days was the amount of runs you score it was irrelevant how you score them. Misbah most of the times gets blame because he fell himself in the same category of players and because he was a leader as well hence he gets more criticism.

Yes but Junior Akmal also played his best knocks in Misbah's era, while he was always criticized for getting out while slogging the ball. How do you explain his deterioration after Misbah ul Haq as captain.

Didn't he play the slowest innings in world t20 vs NZ? Apparently he was player of the tournament for PSL!! But then he failed to perform under Afridi 'an aggressive captain?'

Shehzad too failed under Afridi
