10 people dead as police fires against anti-pollution protesters

What is the use of bringing internal political and administrative issues of one country into another...oh I forgot politics and cricket are interlinked

India is a 'flawed democracy', but in this case...

No I was talking about police firing on protesters..... peaceful protesting is a fundamental right in democracy. Not sure if the protesters became violent

Hard to believe this is the 21st century in the world's most booming economy. Protest against environment hazards and you get shot dead. Seems if you aren't killed by the toxic fumes of poorly regulated copper plants, live rounds from the trusty Indian police will do the job.

The protests did become violent but that is no excuse for excessive police action. There is political vacuum in Tamil Nadu post the demise of Jayalalitha and present rulers are a bunch of incompetent jokers, even the main opposition leader is a disabled nonagenarian with inept children as his successors. There is utter lawlessness and chaos in the state, even the IPL got shifted from Chennai because some protestors wanted to bring their water related grievances to Chepauk stadium.
