Best no.4 batsmen of all in test cricket in order of merit.

1.Sachin Tendulkar
2.Greg Chappell
3.Brian Lara
4.Graeme Pollock
5.Everton Weekes
6.Denis Compton
7.Javed Miandad
8.Kevin Pieterson
9.Jacques Kallis
10.Peter May
11.Martin Crowe
12.Inzamam Ul Haq

Tendulkar stands at the top with his phenomenal longevity and supremacy over contemporaries. He took perfection in all-round batting skill to the depths of the sublime.

Greg Chappell was a maestro statistically surpassing even Viv Richards in his heyday and wast he most prolific against the top West Indies pace attack

Lara may have been the best overall taking creativity in batting art to regions of divinity but his best batting came at no 3 and 5 unlike Sachin and Greg.

Weekes looked like a Bradman re-incarnated plundering bowling in the manner of an invincible emperor and looking like a batting machine more than anyone.

Graeme Pollock traversed regions in batting which even Sobers did not cross taking batting domination to it's deepest depths.

Denis Compton was genius personified looking like composer Beethoven when batting ,literally creating strokes from his own book

Javed Miandad could frustrate, niggle or taunt great bowlers more than anyone keeping the scoreboard moving with his great improvisation. Not the most artistic or correct but the ultimate one to bat for your life.

Kevin Pieterson could demolish an attack like Viv Richards making the best bowlers appear hapless.

Kallis's numbers were staggering and to bat for your life he could be ranked in the Waugh or Border class.Still he often did not accelerate the tempo sufficiently when batting to win games for his country.Still no doubt a true great but ranked low in the list because of comparitive strike rate and impact.

Martin Crowe at his best was more difficult to bowl to than Tendulkar or Lara in the view of Wasim Akram and Waqar younus, the best pace bowling duo ever in test history. To me at his best Crowe could attain depths of genius on par with any all-time great.

Peter May was an epitome of batting perfection and consistency personified.

Inzamam was the best match-winner of his day averaging more than even Tendulkar and Lara in team wins.At his best he was close to the greatest but was not consistent in Australia and South Africa.

I excluded Alan Border as though did bat successfuly at no4. was at his best at no 5 and 6 positions.I checked up his record to certify it.Brian Lara's best came at no 3 and 5 and at no4 I prefered the performances of Sachin and Greg.I would rather have Lara batting at one down than and no 4 and Border at 3 down.Really complex whee to place Pollock who could well have been at no.2 but I respected the record book.Just missed out were Aravinda de Silva,Mark Waugh ,Mohammad Yousuf and Gundappa Vishwanath who were all outstanding players.

Younis Khan?

Almost sir.Could well have made it but just gave it to Crowe and Inzy.I took oposition in to account. In a crisis he was champion, may even better but Crowe,Inzy and May had more flair.

May consider change sir

All ATGs in #4 spot!

Such a great list that YK's outing is justified.

But I'd probably slip in YK in place of KP.

Mahela - I loved how fluid he was at the crease. Compact, quick (in reflexes), and classy.
