14/4 in the powerplay against New Zealand in first T20I! I thought Pakistan were to become world beaters after dropping Mohammad Rizwan and Babar Azam

Should Pakistan stick with the Rizwan-Babar in T20Is or focus on developing the next generation?

In 2007, Pakistan had Imran Nazir and Salman Butt as the openers. Imran was very explosive and entertaining. Even Salman was pretty good.
 
Nz conditons were brutal for newbies. Not really fair to judge them for 14/4.

Hasan Nawaz blossomed in that series however.

This ba/riz myth needs to die. They are not all time greats who have poor form that you are discarding.

The only question mark should be babar due to records.

Rizwan isn't meant to be in the picture lol despite one purple patch year.

Agree.

NZ is one of the toughest places to tour.

Only Aussies and South Africans dominate there. Rest of the teams generally struggle there.

Ahmed shezad, one of our worst batters, scored a 100 there. Nz grounds are baby grounds.

Not taking anything away from the new youngster group.

One Day and T20 are two different things. You do realise that? You can’t play at One day pace in T20.

Secondly Ahmed Shehzad is not a bad player. He has the same Umar Akmal issue however.

Talent wise he had fantastic reactions, and fantastic timing and was a terrific player of pace and spin.

His weakness however was that he was horrible at finding the gaps. Many of his sweet time shots would go straight to fielders. Rather then working on this weakeness he instead grew more and more frustrated and got out playing funky shots as a result.

Eventually he started accepting this as his weakness and stopped caring and would play endless upon endless dot balls and by tue time the rr increased he'd play a crao shot and would get out.

By 2018 he had lost fitness and his rockstar Instagram attitude resulted in poor concentration and a loss in reactions.

Win or lose, that’s part of the game. What I really liked today was how, after the powerplay, we kept the run rate going and players didn’t waste time “playing themselves in”. They went after the bowling right away. This is exactly how T20 cricket should be played. Credit to Hesson and Aaqib for shaping this team so well. Finally, we’re free from the days of Rizwan and Babar holding us back.
 
If you notice how a player like Hassan never cares what the situation is, you’d never expect him to play himself in, especially in a T20 format. Loved how he stuck with the same style and didn’t care about the situation.
 
now i dont even have to bump this thread. IT comes up by itself when we lose

India has won the last two T20 series in New Zealand without losing a single match

One series was a 5 match T20 series which India won 5-0

There’s no favourites…with Rizwan and Babar out of the team, the fan girls have disappeared.

We hold every player accountable, if they’re not performing then we hope for them to be replaced by someone that can do a better job…NOT going back to the same old trash that have been given 6+ years to win us multiple events, only to take us to our lowest point in cricketing history.

You are lying as usual. You did not hold every player accountable when they were playing. You made sure only they were blamed for every defeat.

Now we don't have them holding the team back according to you. So keep updating us what's wrong with the side from here on please

We’re in a rebuilding phase, it’s a new look team…you can’t expect them to click right away, do you?

You’re not looking at the future, how do you build a team for a major event if you’re always dropping players after a series?
 
Just need to point this out that for almost 10 overs, not a single boundary was scored.

From over 7.3 till 17.1.

Another point to add, babar and rizwan did not play in this match who you could blame.

Terrifying lack of competence against the moving ball by Pakistani batters.
 
Completely spaced out today, just got home and realized we had a match against UAE. Checked the scorecard, and looks like Fakhar somehow saved us. Honestly, UAE gave us a tough time again, which really shouldn't be happening.

Haris still couldn’t get going… might be time to ban him from domestic cricket and ship him off to play for Uganda or something.

Anyway, a win’s a win. Off to watch the highlights now.
 
Oh wow, this is unreal. So basically, we’re at such a low point that we collapsed badly against a team like UAE, a side with a nothing bowling attack. After 45/2, which is already terrible against this pathetic bowling lineup, we somehow managed to completely fall apart.

Honestly, enough with a clown like Haris, he shouldn’t be getting any more games at all. And Fakhar? We need to be done with him in the top 3. Just play him at 4. He’ll still be pathetic, but at least it’ll be some kind of change.

It was painful to watch. We could’ve been bundled out for a joke of a total if UAE hadn’t dropped sitters off Fakhar again and again. And even then, he looked awful, absolutely pathetic, against bowlers who have no business collapsing our batting lineup like that.

Unbelievable. It’s just sad. Against any decent team or even fielders who can actually catch, we’re probably getting bowled out for 100 again and again. This is a joke of a batting lineup. Sure, they’ll occasionally score 190 on a flat road, but that too not every game. The moment it gets a little tough, these guys can’t even manage 6 an over.

I seriously hope and pray we magically improve somehow, but this is just pathetic beyond belief. Not even sure why I wasted 25 minutes watching those highlights.

It was about Babar vs Warner. I wasn't even mean, infact at that time I actually rated babar highly.

All i said was that Warner had brilliant numbers and performances in 2010, 2015 and 2019 t20 and odi world cup campaigns not to mention that while he is a poor test batsmen overseas, He is one of the greatest home batters of all time.

Being an HTB in aus isnt easy, the pitch is a bilo bounce nightmare. You have be extremely extremely good against pace bowling to succeed their.

Babar has a long way to go before the comparisons start.

Who wouldn't want 30-40 avg 140-150SR batsmen in the team? You have to be a mad man not to want that 🤣🤣.

However reality =/= Fantasy. Rizwan and Babar being the Bradman of T20 despite frequently Striking at 90 to 110 SR across multiple t20 tournaments that too against sides like USA, Canada, Zimbabwe is truly a story listed in the book of Fables written by Walt Disney.

I think this is the thing these people don’t understand. Not everyone is married to a player. No harm in dropping a player if he’s not performing.

Greatest ever T20 player to play for the greens. When the guy alone has more runs, fifties, centuries than the current squad combined, you know you're lost the debate right there.
 
People having a hard time accepting that Haris is even worse than the guys he supposedly replaced... There is a huge difference between modern day player and tulla player and Haris is just another tulla hack.
 
This Hesson's strategy of modern batting and deep. You agree or not, is starting to work.

Even after losing 5 wickets cheap against UAE Pakistan managed to score 170+ because the batters continue to throw counter punch rather than focusing on rebuilding. It also helps that the batting is deep.

We saw this happen against Bangladesh as well where we lost in the last over.

So in the games where batting collapses. Pakistan is scoring 170 or at least competing till the last over. You better be sure that on true surfaces this team is on track to mostly score above par scores.

If it were the team and strategy of RizBar. We would've gotten to 140-150 max. Safe play.

With current team. The execution has not been perfect in most games but the idea and direction is right. Safeplay is outdated in T20 Cricket.

Harris is arguably worse than a keeper of Butler, DeQock’s level.

You can’t be arguably worse than a keeper who isn’t a T20 batter in the first place in the name of Rizwan.
