[17th Sept] T20 WarmUp Game - India vs Pakistan

India with their batting are favourites against Pakistan.. Pakistan will go in as underdogs
 
Your Team vs India on September 17th?

So we won the series against Australia but i think there are a few points to ponder upon for us.
1. We lack a specialist and reliable batsman in the middle order.
2. There's no point in playing 4 openers.
3. Hafeez should not open.
So here's my team..

1. Nasir jamshed
2. Kamran akmal
3. Umer akmal
4. Asad shafiq
5. Hafeez
6. Shoaib malik
7. Abdul razzaq
8. Afridi
9. Tanvir/sami
10. Gul
11. Ajmal

3 stroke players up the order to utilize the new ball and power play.
Then 3 strike rotaters in the middle.
And then 2 pinch hitters to follow.
Though i would like to see razzaq going up the order if we are 2 or 3 wickets down in the first 10 overs.
 
Its just a freaking warm up game . IIRC.....A team can play all 15 so it is not really a cricket match but a net session with opposition in uniform
 
Should see if Ajmal takes his revenge against Kohli! Will be top contest

The biggest crime that this team management/captain/coach are making is that they are not selecting Asad Shafeeq in the playing XI. Specially after securing the series, they should have played him ahead of Malik or Nazir. I saw the practise games between PCB greens and PCB white (sorry if i forgot the team names) before the SL series in Qaddafi stadium and Shafeeq was outstanding in all the games. Hes specially very good in situations where quick 2,3 wickets fell and our batsmen struggle to score runs. It was sad not to see him in atleast the last T20 game.

this team could potentially go all the way and any other combination other than this XI will likely lose

this keeps malik, yasir, raza hasan, and sami where they should be----on the bench
 
As always the balloon of pakistani expectations inflates initially and when Pakistan loses to India it deflates within no time

Its just a warm game for God sakes.. the ladies here really get their panties in a bunch for trivial things..

I think we all know its a warm up game, but you would be a fool to think it dosent hold any importance for the fans. i can pretty much guarantee this match will gather more interest than most of the official matches of the tournament .

Today was an off day, we'll be back to business when we meet Pak especially in an event like World cup. :akhtar
 
We will more or less see the same team. We should bay first. India's fielding isn't special. Even youngsters are reluctant to dive and stop boundaries.

Hafeez, Nasir Jamshed, Imran Nazir and Kami will be enough to take them apart.

Not sure if you noticed.........I vanish many times even when we win....It my doosra :p..Actually depends on job timings for that week and also whether boss is around..Hey mods can u also add a option where the forum can be participated minus the wall paper /emoticons and color or in plain text/html.........for people who login from work and would like to make this webpage less noticeable on screen

As per usual India will beat Pak again in a WC situation. Whether it be 20 overs or 50, warm up games or official, India have always beaten Pak since 92. It's like they get shook up everytime they go against India.

The Indians thrive under pressure (v pak). Whilst the Pakistani's play the role of a victim, attempting to stab India when they have their back turned, as opposed to really turning the heat on from the get go.
 
So much excitement for a warm up match :D. Truly the Indo-Pak rivalry is special but we all could just cool down a little since the teams themselves will try to give a chance to more than 11 players in the same match.

Just relax and have fun guys!
 
Really looking forward for this match! Especially given that this match has no bearing on the World Cup! Can watch it without any tensions(that's not possible though :p)
 
If all the seeded teams get through it will be Pak, Ind, Aus & SA in the super 8 stage.

Group of hell comes to mind :|

However a possibility of an Indo-Pak rematch is on the cards
 
Bangladesh U-19 team beat Sri Lanka + Pakistan @ recent World Cup.

Can the seniors win against Pakistan + Sri Lanka and India @ T20 World cup? :)

Fixed. The last thing Kohli is going to do is get a duck and the last thing this is going to be is an easy win for any side, this will probably be a tough contest and btw when did you last get a prediction right? I've seen you making some really confident statements but its always the opposite that happens.
 
Pakistan should have won All of the t20s against India till now.. But Pakistan lost all of them by their own mistakes, not because of some extra ordinary performances by India..Self destruct is what Pakistanis do. This makes me believe Pakistan has 0% chance against India and their batsmen WHO KNOCK SPIN BOWLERS INTO TOMORROW..
 
Can Pak beat India at least in warm up games? I am tired of India beating pak too many times in recent years....

Cricket has a funny way of coming back and biting you in the behind.. Same was being said about UV during the WC match.. he had scored a fifty in almost every match and it was billed that he would score big again. What actually happened we all know.

Kohli is super talented, but at the end of the day he is just another batsman and any batsman can be dismissed for a duck.
 
Really want Ajmal to perform well in this warm-up . Razzaq should get some hitting practice here as well .

Surely you do not mean ordinary performance is enough to ..........
 
I am more confident about our bowlers than batsmen. Gauti, Viru, Rohit (all three likely to play) aren't getting runs, Yuvi still not 100% fit, and we are depended on Kohli too much. On other hand, our bowlers are more consistent. Every bowler has hard time on flat track, so if our batsmen don't stand up like they used to, our chances of winning everything is as equal as the most of the teams.

Our only advantage is we have decent lower order thanks to Ashwin and Irfan.

If Viru and Gauti start finding their form again, we have strong chance, other wise, lots of finger crossings.

You guys are weird. If our bowlers were as bad as yours which are as bad as our batsman, we wouldn't have any confidence in them at all, trusting them to lost defending 36 runs in the final over.

Not weird, logical. Look at the reasons I have given. I have more confidence in Zak, Irfan, Ashwin (all three wicket takers) and Balaji/Dinda (containing runs) than our 'not' so ready batters, Gauti, Viru, Rohit and Yuvi. We are dependable on one guy only at the moment, rest of them can't be trusted.
 
I hope India experiment a bit. Rahane should open at least in one of the warmup games. Bajji should be playing and so should Dinda. Tiwary should also get one game. India should give chances to all the players to make sure that they are match fit and ready if at all someone gets injured. Even though we are playing Pakistan, in the larger scheme of things this doesn't bear any consequence to outcome of the tournament.
 
Check it yourself. Stunning really. Just 4 matches but have India found the unobtanium????

The other reason we played 4 spinners is because thankfully, we have the world's best spin attack. Even then, one of those spinners is an opening batsmen, and Afridi and Ajmal would be selected even if we had our full strength bowling unit. So really just one additional spinner was selected. Let's look at the pacers you just mentioned.

Umar Gul- he was "rested" because he hasn't been anything special in ODI's for a while now. No doubt he is a good t20 pacer but nothing special in ODI's.

Wahab Riaz- i myslef am a huge fan of the guy but he is too wayward and hit or miss although he should be in the squad but if you look at his recent slpl and Moin Khan corporate t20 performances he was smashed around by club level batsmen.

Playing 4 spinners was an example that I just mentioned if you think this pace attack is any where near the class or the trio of gul, junaid, and wahab will be any where near the class of our past bowling attacks you must be out of you mind. a country which has produced Wasim, Waqar,IK, Akthar, Zahid, Aamir, and Asif's calibre fast bowlers is struggling to find even 1 world class pacer at the moment gul and wahab are not world class not sure about Junaid though he might turn out to be better than gul and wahab. To me bad karma has a huge part to play in it as history tells us too much pride/ big ego destroys you.

Gul and Junaid and Wahab can't bowl pace 145+ consistently.

truth is... as numerous times have showed us, we simply suck chasing India ever since '07 final. we can't chase jack! India could get away by scoring just 150! that's why its so important to restrict india to under 150 if that's possible at all with their heavy batting line-up. and even tho india chased a big target in asia cup last time around, i wouldn't count on india doing that again. How many times can kohli save them? :p
