Yes, better team won if they won it by themselves but tbf this match was in hands of SA once Corey left. But all of a sudden SA world class fielding turned into street class fielding which will be termed as fielding choke in papers tomorrow whether you agree or not

1) not even one single time de Kock could hit stick when batsmen ran for single on byes
2) couldn't get hold of catch several times
3) missed run out chances

I guess even Elliot who scored winning runs is dropped several times from runout and catches.

What a game! What a game! Glad I stayed up to watch it.

Two very likable teams, sad that one had to lose. DV, Steyn, and the other SA players are such great personalities, hate to see their WC come to an end. But what an end!

DV's innings was just phenomenal. After his and Miller's innings I thought NZ were done for. Then came McCullum's blast at the beginning of the innings. Starting RRR 6.92, no problem. After 5 overs McCullum had brought it down below 6.

Then Tahir comes on to bowl and strangles the NZ batsmen, and the run rate keeps climbing and climbing till it reaches 12. But NZ do it with Elliot, the #68 ranked batsman in the world. What a game!!!

Enough warning for whoever reaches the finals, India or Australia. Do you really want to bat first if you win the toss and ask NZ to chase a total after they chased down 298/43?

Bad luck S_K, though I supported Kiwis apart from my own team. I thought SAF had enough, even after rain, which clearly robbed their chance to put 350, the way Mac finished his main bowlers. SAF fielders were under pressure but the wet ball didn't help either.

Better luck next time, I think the core of this team 'll be there in 4 years time, may be Styen might decline; but bowling isn't SAF's major concern area.

South Africa would have scored 350 easily if not more, which would have been a lot tougher to chase in 50 overs. It's the fact that the match was only 43 overs that helped New Zealand.

I agree that South Africa should have defended it, but you can't deny that New Zealand got a huge advantage after the rain.

Though McCullum really set the tone at the start.
