Sikander Raza was instrumental with bat and ball in each of Zimbabwe's victory, most notably against Pakistan.

Sam Curran and Arshdeep's superb bowling can fetch them award too.

With 10 more matches to go, some more impressive performers can make them name to list.

Has Shadab Khan been the best performer in the 2022 T20 World Cup?

8 wickets in 4 matches at an economy rate of 5.85 and a brilliant half-century against South Africa, Shadab Khan has made impact with both bat and ball. Has he been the most impactful performer in the 2022 T20 World Cup? Is he the front runner for the player of the tournament award?

Big No

The 9-member shortlist for the Player of the Tournament for the ongoing ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2022 has now been revealed, with the fans getting the chance to vote for the winner.

The T20 World Cup in Australia has seen some stellar performances from players and teams alike, with many contests going down to the wire.

After a roller-coaster ride, we finally have the two finalists, with Pakistan and England reaching the grand finale which will be played on November 13 at the Melbourne Cricket Ground.

Nine exceptional performers have been nominated for the Player of the Tournament shortlist, with all of them impressing and winning matches for their sides. Players from England and Pakistan dominate the shortlist, with three nominees from the Three Lions while two make the cut from the Men in Green.

Two players from India and one each from Zimbabwe and Sri Lanka also make the list of nominees, with the fans getting the chance to vote and decide the winner.

Here we take a look at a list of the 9 nominees and revisit their performances in the tournament so far, to help you decide upon the eventual winner.

Virat Kohli (India)

The Indian batting stalwart played a key role in his side making it to the semis.

In six matches, Kohli notched up 296 runs at a staggering average of 98.66. His runs also came at a decent clip, 136.40 and he currently sits atop the run-scoring charts in the tournament. Kohli scored four half-centuries in the tournament, with a memorable 82* against Pakistan in India's victory against Pakistan in Melbourne.

Suryakumar Yadav (India)

Suryakumar Yadav was perhaps the most impactful batter in the tournament for India, playing some brilliant knocks with some of the most audacious shots you would have ever seen.

Yadav scored 239 runs in six matches, with his runs coming at a sensational strike rate of 189.68. He also scored three half-centuries, which came against Netherlands, South Africa and Zimbabwe.

With his exploits in Australia, Yadav truly announced his arrival on the big stage, while also becoming the No.1 ranked batter in the world in the MRF Tyres ICC Men's T20I Player Rankings.

Shadab Khan (Pakistan)

Shadab Khan has been one of Pakistan's star performers in their run to the final of the tournament, starring with both bat and ball. He has been an impactful performer, picking up vital wickets in the middle overs while also playing the role of power-hitter in the middle order brilliantly.

Shadab's major contribution with the bat came during Pakistan's must-win contest against South Africa in Sydney, as he scored a blistering half-century. With the ball, he has picked 10 wickets in six matches, with best figures of 3/22 and a miserly economy of 6.59.

Shaheen Afridi (Pakistan)

Shaheen Afridi has slowly but surely regained his groove in the tournament, being back to his best in the last couple of games. The pacer went wicketless in his first two games but has then gone on to scalp 10 in the next four matches, as Pakistan roared their way back from the brink to reach the finals.

Overall, he has 10 wickets in six matches at an average of 14.20 and an exceptional economy of 6.17. Pakistan will again bank on him to work his magic in the final against England.

Sam Curran (England)

Sam Curran has been England's death bowling expert in their run to the finals. He has bowled exceptionally in the tough overs, be it the Powerplay or right at the very end where the batters are looking to tee off.

In five matches, Curran has picked up 10 wickets at 13.60 and an economy of 7.28, including a five-wicket haul against Afghanistan. He will again play a key role in the final if England are to lift the coveted trophy.

Jos Buttler (England)

The England skipper has led from the front in the tournament, getting his sides off to some roaring starts. His partnership with Alex Hales has flourished and the pair put India to the swords in the semi-final in Adelaide.

His captaincy has also been brilliant and so has been his keeping behind the stumps. Overall with the bat, Buttler has made 199 runs in five matches at a healthy strike rate of 143.16, with two half-centuries. He has also eight dismissals from behind the stumps.

Alex Hales (England)

Returning to the England side after Jonny Bairstow's injury prior to the start of the tournament, Alex Hales has certainly made his presence felt. He is England leading run-scorer, with 211 runs in five matches at a strike rate of 148.59 and two half-centuries.

He played one of the knocks of the tournament in the semi-final against India, scoring a brilliant unbeaten 86. England will hope that his brilliant touch with the bat continues in the final against Pakistan.

Sikandar Raza (Zimbabwe)

Zimbabwe's talisman continued his amazing run in the shortest format in 2022 during the tournament. He played some vital knocks with the bat, while chipping in with some handy overs with the ball.

He scored 219 runs in eight matches, with one half-century to his name. Raza also proved to be the game-changer with the ball in the famous victory against Pakistan in Perth, with figures of 3/25. Overall, he picked up 10 wickets in the tournament.

Wanindu Hasaranga (Sri Lanka)

The ace spinner was again Sri Lanka's talisman with the ball in the tournament, providing them with some vital breakthroughs in the middle overs. Hasaranga is the current leading wicket-taker in the tournament, with 15 wickets in eight matches.

His wickets came at a stunning average of 13.26 and a tidy economy of 6.41, with best figures of 3/8. Hasaranga has a brilliant chance of now ending up as the leading wicket-taker in back-to-back editions of the tournament, after his 16 wickets in the 2021 edition in UAE and Oman.

For me Virat Kohli is still the best performing player of the current tournament. Its a bowler dominating series, we saw only single team score of 200+.
Virat's 4 fifties, 296 runs should be enough for him to bag his 3rd player of tournament award.
Shadab is closest to Virat. If, he perform outstandingly in the finals, then he will get that award.

Shadab for me unless he has a poor final. Virat's S/R of 136 is just above par with my elite standard benchmark of 135 S/R.

No biases against any player, same standard for everyone. :inti

For us, Shadab and Shaheen had the greatest impact and both are genuine contenders depending upon the final.

Kohli has played really well but except for game against Pakistan other innings in the same match have over shadowed his innings. On the other hand, if Shadab does well in the final he should get it

With fans vote deciding the result.....its not too hard to guess the winner

If Pakistan win the final and shadab puts together another good allround performance I'd say he deserves it

For me it has to be between Shadab, Hales and Buttler. Kohli has 1 great innings and then 2 fifties against minnows in addition to a pretty poor knock in the semi finals, SKY again has 1 good innings against S.A albeit in a loosing cause and just like Kohli he has 2 fifties against minnows and a no show in the Semi.

IF there is a final then whichever of these 3 performs wins the award hands own. If there is a washout then I feel it should be Shadab as he has been consistent in performing in every match whether it is with ball, bat or even fielding.

Babar Azam and Jos Buttler, whose teams will go head-to-head in the final of the ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2022 on 13 November, have picked their Player of the Tournament ahead of the big clash.

Buttler chose to go with Suryakumar Yadav, who made a massive impact for India in the T20 World Cup with his consistency clubbed with a more than healthy strike rate. Heading into the final, Yadav is the third-highest run-scorer in the tournament with 239 runs that came a strike rate of 189.68, the best in the tournament.

He, however, highlighted the role of two England players who stood out in the tournament and didn't forget to mention that they had another opportunity to be strong contenders for the award.

In a special segment ahead of the final, Sanjana Ganesan queried the England skipper on his pick for the Player of the Tournament.

"I think Suryakumar Yadav," Buttler said.

"I think Suryakumar Yadav for me has been someone who's played with extreme freedom. He's been incredibly eye-catching to watch in such a star-studded line-up. To stand out the way he has is amazing.

"Of course there's a couple of our guys on that sheet as well - Sam Curran and Alex Hales. If they put in a great performance in the final, they can be the Player of the Tournament for me," Buttler added.

On being asked the same question to Babar Azam, the Pakistan skipper had no hesitation in picking Shadab Khan, whose all-round contributions have been pivotal in Pakistan's late surge to the final.

"I think it should be Shadab Khan for the way he is playing," Babar said.

"While his bowling has been outstanding, his batting also improved quite a bit. His dominating performances in the last three games along with his outstanding fielding makes him a prime contender for the Player of the Tournament."

Nine players have been shotlisted for the Player of the Tournament by ICC with players from England and Pakistan dominating the list.

There are three players from England, two each from Pakistan and India and one each from Sri Lanka and Zimbabwe.

For now, it has to be Kohli. Buttler or Hales can pip him based on how they do in the finals.

No one Pakistan should have any realistic chance in my opinion. There have been some good individual performances but no one has played well enough to deserve a player of the tournament award.

If Pakistan win the final then a Pakistani player might get it. Such awards are heavily skewed in favor of the winning team.

MOS should be Shadab Khan. He was the standout performer for Pak in the entire series. Didn't have much impact in the SF with the ball but his runout was a massive turning point. He turned the SA and BD games, both must win games. Can make an impact in all three facets.

I would say Shadab Khan. He made the difference for Pakistan.

I would hate it if Kohli gets the award. Except for 1 knock vs Pakistan rest were pointless knocks.

Hope shaheen performs and get the player of the tournament award.

Since we all are talking about repeat of 92 then it has to be afridi because in 92 left arm pacer (wasim akram) was the player of tournament so this time it would be Afridi.

Lets just hope this part of history doesnt repeat as Wasim was the MOM in final not the MOS...I believe that was Martin Crowe.

Kohli 2022 was pretty much the same as Babar 2021...1 good innings followed by 2-3 irrelevant fifties, A poor innings to loose the semi for your team. Both were top scorers. You were pretty vocal on how Babar had no business winning the award last year but now Kohli deserves it? And please don't say that innings against Pakistan alone is worth the award or how that innings alone is better than Babar's career. he got the MOM for that innings which is why it is there

No one gives iftikhar a chance? He done very well in this world cup..

It's been a weird world cup with not many being consistent matchwinners. India had Kohli and SKY.
For England, it's been a variety of players who have put their hands up, same for Pak. Shadab has been the most consistent one for Pak, Shaheen being a close second.

Adil Rashid has done well for his economy but the wicket column doesn't show it.

Hasaranga was great in the qualifiers but simply good in the super 12.
