2nd Test, St Lucia: West Indies v India - score updates and discussion thread

Last hour called. - minimum of 15 overs to go....

Great knock by Lara! Well deserved draw for West Indies if one examines their performance on Day 5. Better luck next time India, thats two test matches now that somehow fate has denied us.

Thanks Binoy, this is Sriram Veera and it will my privilege to take it till the end. Game on as Lara falls after a marathon effort. He built a wall between India and a win and just when the cement looked to be drying, an umpiring error opened a crack in the wall. Can the Indians break down that wall now? or will West Indies seal it up again? Here we go!

umpiring error was lara wrongly givet out

was that an easy catch that dhoni and kaif spilled or was that a difficult chance?

a dolly! (easy)

what india would have done for akash chopra or some other good fielder under the lid. kaifs very poor in that postion!

i doubt that is likely but yeah, thats two test matches now that we ought to have won. i wont be too surprised if something similar occurs in test 3 and then suddenly in test 4 its india who is on the receiving end. eventually the series ends 1-1 or 0-0, a complete injustice to how india played (or atleast have so far in the first two tests).

I don't see why Kaif is fielding at short leg when he is so crap there.

kaif is not a good fielder? what is it that you are smoking my man?

i cant see west indies being this bad in last 2 test and india are bound to have 1 bad test.

13 overs left.

W.I 264/5

Did you read and understand what i said?

i said hes a crap bat-pad fielder. he rarely stays down and has missed 4/5 chances. Just coz hes a good fielder in covers, gulley etc.. doesnt make him good bat-pad fielder.

if it is any encouragement... save for bradshaw to follow, the rest are not going to be upto the same measure as fidel edwards. hence, a last ball victory is still feasible, but first, get past these two.

Huge six off kumble! bravo jumps down pitch and hammers ball!

he mean that position,, otherwise he is a good fielder

4-5 chances? this test? well i just started watching it, so do tell me. but yeah akash chopra is what one might call a specialist for that position. alas he is not in the playing 11, and wont be either if jaffer can carry on the good work and with gambhir at his heels.

Yes, pitched outside off
pitches outside the line of offstump, coming round the wicket, for a leg spinner is an automatic qualification for not out. especially if he was playing on his front foot.

yes this test match. ball has gone to hand three times and other times ball has gone past him whilst hes been asleep.

loll... he is only good in the covers and guily..... he is to bad slip fielder......

Bravo gone caught bat pad by yuvraj.

6 down!

9 overs left!

104.3 Kumble to Bravo, 1 no ball, Bravo decides to break free! tossed up outside the off stump, Bravo danced down the track and lofted it over long-off... !
104.2 Kumble to Bravo, SIX, ripped across on the middle and leg, straigtening after pitching, pushed to short-leg

uhhh...what?

anyone of these two falls or better yet both fall before the last three overs, then we might have a chance... ah who am i kidding... DRAW!

bradshaw might not have excelled as a bowler but he has been the thorn in india's side for a second test running now.

just a suggestion... should test matches now be played such that the time lost due to weather or other concerns such as light be compensated with one optional extra session? note that under this new provision, the extra session would only be available if considerable time has been lost to the weather or due to bad light (and not taken simply because the extra time would force a result).

25 Mins left so possibly more overs could be bowled.

I agree. There should be a 'reserve day' in tests as well. Any time lost in the first five days due to rain or bad light can be made up on the reserve day. If no time is lost due to rain or bad light then the reserve day should not be used.

I forgot to add the small print.

This rule only applies when it benefits Pakistan or those playing against England and India

Droppppppppppedddddddd!!!!!!!!!!NOOOOOOOOO!, In the last 15 overs or so, India have missed some catches.

Man are you new to Cricket?

I know this is in support of india at the moment but not in sprit of the game. It never happened.

113.6 Patel to Ramdin, FOUR, DROPPED! Rahul Dravid drops the Test match? It was on a length, just outside the off stump, Ramdin pressed forward, late in doing so, ball straightens after pitching, Ramdin pushes at it, and the ball flew low to the left of Dravid at second slip who dives, but is unable to hold on.

hehehehehe nice one

superb drop from dravid! should have taken it!

16 mins to go..!

113.4 Patel to Ramdin, no run, beaten outside the off stump! Just a coat of varnish. It was a fullish delivery, just outside the off stump and held its line a bit, Ramdin has a drive, ends up playing inside the line. Almost the ball that got Sarwan out.

Tension mounting here!

113.3 Patel to Ramdin, no run, appeal for caught behind! turned down. it was full and drifting down the leg, tries to flick it away, doesn't connect, brushes the pad enroute to Dhoni!

Who is Tension?

heck i dont even want a reserve day... just a session of 35 odd overs since a pitch often deteriorates to such extent that a whole additional day might be asking for a hurculean task from the team batting on this day. and for those saying that this is against the spirit of the game, do tell me how (especially considering that when test matches were first played, they were timeless matches).

yeah but jerome taylor is in next. and they still have ramdin in the middle. 6 minutes for three wickets... of which two will be spent by the new batsman walking out into the middle...

Match drawn.

series is 0-0 with 2 tests to play.

:))) :)))

Would be hilarious if India lost this series now!

i doubt we will but as i said earlier, though these draws clearly indicated towards india being a superior team, it will be west indies who will gain in confidence, and india who will return to the pavilion with lurching shoulders.

Result of these two tests point at India's bowling weakness. They failed to bowl WI out twice in both tests.

India dominated most parts of the 1st test, India should have won the 2nd test, but the damn rain ruined it for us, I still think India will win this test series, WI will gain some confidence, while India can take some postives out of this game.

I agree that India did'nt have much bowling power to bowl out the windies, my suggestions would be to bring back Bhajji into the team.

look,, what if it was Pakistan.....!!!!

Look if Pakistan had out played Wi, and still didnt manage to win against them because of rain, and a bit bad fielding.....

India lacks strike bowlers. If you're gonna go for a win just based on your sole spinner, it'll be very difficult to do so, specially on pitches outside India or the sub-continent.

Although weather did play a role in the final outcome but, nonetheless, they had over 100 overs to get 9 wickets on the final day and were not able to do it.

I guess being the so-called "strongest batting line-up" doesn't help much if your bowlers can't get wickets in test matches :)

When I was asking what the hell Dhoni (9 off 39?) and Pathan (13 off 30 some balls) were doing scoring so slowly while their team was at 500+ for 5 wickets...everyone thought I was just mumbling on!

I told you that time wasted by Indian batsmen will come back to haunt them and it did...Tee Hee :D
