The avg T-20 game lasts for around 4 hours.

Have the first game at 9 am and schedule to end it by 1 pm. Have the second game start at 2 pm and end at 6 pm. Have the third match of the day start at 7 pm and end at 11 pm.

3 T20 games a day from Monday to Saturday with Sunday as a rest day.

Have the important Semi Final, Quater Final, Final on a single day

This way the IPL can end within 5-6 weeks

This way the IPL authorities can strike the balance b/w expanding the teams and keeping the tournament short to prevent viewer fatigue.

Three might be a bit too much as most people wouldn't watch the morning game because of work. But they can do two each weekday like they do on weekends.

India has a population of 1.5 billion people. Surely the biggest cricket loving country in the world can manage to fill the stadiums with 30,000 spectators each game.

The whole idea of a T20 is to have a games that is done in 3 hours.

People can go along to a match after work, have a great evening out and not have to miss any work.

This was the pull of T20 as opposed to an ODI which is all day long..

If you play three games a day what will that do for TV viewership?
People will just get fatigued even sooner then they are, that those who have nothing else to do during the day.

Two games per day is a stretch, three games is just overkill.

You can have too much of a good thing.

English premier league runs for 10 months and mostly on afternoon & evening slot on the weekends so that they can maximise the viewership and fans can enjoy in prime time slot.

Not sure why IPL should do 3 games a day every day...when most people will be in office/school etc

Unfortunately, IPL will remain the same i.e

1 game every day in the evening prime time slot in IST zone

2 games on weekends

If that means dragging the tournament to 3 months...so be it.

Other boards are free to organize international matches during this time...no one is stopping.

Weather won't allow it.

Plus players will run out of steam and get injured quickly.

There is already too much T20 cricket being played.

3 matches a day is overkill.

T20 cricket will be the death of ODIs in future.

This will further dilute the value of this failing tournament in the eyes of advertisers and sponsors.

IPL this year is happening within a span of 6 months, it will be back to high trp's next season. With more teams and player shuffling, there will be minot niggles to take care of for a season. Do not worry.

IPL is here to stay.

I am sad about int. cricket which seem to be dying everywhere :(

Making the IPL a better viewership experience is not going to be very high on the list of the BCCI's priorities.

Given the sums thrown around the IPL is clearly doing what it is designed to do perfectly well.

The IPL is doing fine with one match a day and double headers in the weekend. I think that is the right way. Gives breathing room for every match. Which is what is needed to earn revenues for all involved.

Anything more will not work.

Surprised that there are still people who think the IPL is failing. I remember a whole bunch of posts back in 2008, 09, 10 where there were predictions of IPL will not last.

But 15 years later, the IPL has expanded for a second time and an upcoming broadcasting deal that is predicted to be the largest the cricket world has ever seen. Also, to get the broadcasting rights, there is the largest competition I have ever seen in cricket.

I have to say it is hard to say that IPL is failing. Because all evidence is to the contrary.

That would be like having KFC for breakfast, lunch and dinner everyday.

You should know the consequence of this.
