What's new

83 of 230 players in 10 major European FIFA World Cup teams are migrants

It's daft to say a guy like Pogba or Welbeck is a migrant

Well going by that logic every single person in the world is a migrant.

Agreed. Anyone 2nd generation ain’t a migrant. What they could have said, was that the person was not Caucasian. Don’t think that would be very PC.

This is hilarious. Looks like they're classifying anyone who's not the most common ethnicity in a country as a migrant and then comparing that figure to the percentage of a countries population that isn't born there. Even better, they appear to be using data from 13 years ago when much more recent data is available from the same source.

Are they also assuming the Albanians playing for Switzerland as immigrants? Were Podolski or Klose, who have European heritage considered as immigrants?

Ridiculous.

Albanians playing for Swiss and Polish guys playing for other countries are not ethnic minorities. They are Europeans.

Europe is a continent, not an ethnicity. A French living in Germany is not an ethnic German, thus he's an ethnic minority.

European ain't no ethnic group.

Europe is one of the biggest geopolitical hoaxes ever. It didn't exist as united identity until the end of the 19th century, when intellectuals like Victor Hugo, looking at the rise of nationalism's post-1848 romantic national revolutions, wanted to abort future wars - that didn't happen, so 20th century intellectuals like Coudenhove-Kalergi began to talk of an European Union, which found a better public because nationalism's did give two World Wars.

"European civilization" is used by the descendants of Germanic/Celtic populations (English/Germans/French) so they can claim Greek/Roman achievements (the FIRST English scientists, Roger Bacon/Robert Grossetête, come as late as in the 12/13th centuries, so you can guess why), while these populations were historically/ethnically/culturally closer to their immediate neighbors in the Levant (recent studies have shown Greeks to be closer to the likes of Lebanese and Iranians.) Honest English scholars like ML West and Germans like Walter Burckert have written a lot on this issue.

Think of it : when have Germans and Greeks EVER been into the same political configuration ? For some odd half century, in an already failed experiment called the EU.
