A list of bowlers who can clock around 150 kph and above in test cricket

Australia have Starc and a few others and then some

Newzealand have Milne and Ferguson who can do that along with upcoming pacers who are pretty quick

India has a few upcoming youngsters who may reach that speed when they grow into their bodies and then Bumrah who can crank it above 145 kph with ease and is test class fast

Srilanka has the fragile Kumara and even Chameera in that sort of pace bracket

England have Wood and Jofra Archer who will be available soon

South Africa has too many and they can't seem to fit all of them in the same eleven and Nortje hasn't even debuted yet. Rabada, Steyn, Ngidi, Olivier etc are all above 145 kph bracket

West Indies pace battery is in good hands with Gabriel et. al.

How long do we have to wait for a genuine quick bowler to emerge?

The last real quick bowler that emerged was Wahab but let's face it, his test career never really peaked. A look at domestic cricket bowling stats sends shivers down the spine with names like Cheema, Sadaf Hussain (no disrespect to his numbers, just talking strictly pace wise), and even Hammad Azam being in the top.

What happened to the hair-flying, million thrills a moment Pakistani fast bowler and how long do we now have to wait for one to emerge?

Haris Rauf isn't pacy enough unless he has added 5kph out of nowhere. Neither is Salman Irshad no matter how much Akhtar hypes him.

So, when we going to get our traditional Pakistani proper fast bowler?

Yea these two guys can potentially clock 150ks on their good days provided that they get rigorous training and right nutrition for atleast couple of years (may be in just one year for Musa)

Instead of a Sami, Wahab type pacer who can clock 150 but has brains the size of a lizard, I'd much rather have someone who can bowl 140-144kph but keep it tight and also know how to swing it. In this batsman's era, out and out pacers are a liability rather than an asset.

The problem is not with pace but with the mentality of the modern day pacers. They are genuinely scared of being too predictable instead of exploiting batsmen's weaknesses and trusting in their own abilities. Pakistani pacers stopped bowling those deadly yorkers since 2009/10 when Gul used to bowl them at will.

Yeah but we also have produced bowlers the caliber of Wasim, Waqar, Imran, and Shoaib. They were all quick enough to frighten batsmen and were skilled enough to average in 20's and had great presence.

How long do we have to wait for another bowler like that? That's the question here for me

I expect Shaheen Shah Afridi to bowl above 140 consistently within a couple of years. By then his body will have full developed and his muscles will only get stronger from here.

Modern batsman are too good against express pace, trundlers are more successful against them.

A bowler like asif or amir of 2009 (who could move the ball at 140+) will be a bigger challenge.

I would definitely be interested in next shoaib akhtar than the likes of a medium pacer who can bowl with swing. Because swing needs conditions, duh. While pace is effective irrelevant of the pitch or the conditions. Shear pace of 150+ with some sort of accuracy is what can truly knock down opposition, especially if bowled aggressively at the body (short pitch stuff) like Mitch Johnson did in Ashes.

Harris Rauf clocked 148 kph despite a couple of slight technical issues. He actually worked with a couple of coaches in Aus and the idea was to help him cross the 150 kph mark. Would be interesting to see whether he has gained some K’s.

I want to see more of Musa as during the SA QF game he hardly bowled a delivery over 138, and generally hovered between 132-135. Nor did he look particularly quick from the naked eye against the Australian U-19 team prior to the WC. It would be interesting to see whether he can consistently maintain the speeds he reached against India, or if was just an inspired spell.

No Pakistanis at the moment.

Perhaps some of the kids in a few years might, but these days we seem to be producing medium-fast bowlers at best.

Wahab will bowl the fastest bowl of the tournament as he has been doing this for past 3 years.he was bowling 150 in bpl.only interested in haris rauf.musa is going to disappoint a lot of people

Let's make sure haris rauf and musa firstly get into the xi. Because even that I'd a challenge.

What about Mohammad Irfan Khan of MultN Sultans? If I'm correct he clocked 148kmph?

But the yorker is still effective even nowadays with the way batsmen play. So why is the yorker so underrated now?

Haris Rauf been clocked between - 140kph-148kph
Mohammed Musa has been clocked between - 140kph - 147kph
Mohammed Hasnain - apparently 140kph plus but wont know till we see him bowl.
Most likely to get close or breach 150Kph is Haris Rauf based on evidence seen so far. Mohammed Musa might get close....
Otherwise its the usual suspects (Wahab & Sami) :((

Jeetesh ji, it's hard for me to agree on this. Even if the top batsmen or top-order players are good against pace, the tail-enders will continue to have genuine issues against pace.

Plus, there are so many things that can augment scary pace. Seam movement, swing, reverse swing, bounce, and that's why quality quick bowlers will be dangerous. The reaction time between 145 kph to 150 kph is manageable, but as soon as it goes above 150 kph and with seam or swing, it's a totally different ball game.

Sky showed the reaction times along with the speed and it was a really mind blowing thing.

Also this watch is for a genuine quality pacer that can crank it up and take wickets and not Wahab Riaz kind of spray gun bowler.

My last hope is HAris Rauf.

Don't think he's that fast but I'm willing to be surprised here. Saw him bowling to Kohli in a net session or some other player and they were playing him with ease on front-foot. It's not just the speedgun speed, it's also the speed of the pitch and pushing people on the backfoot but it's a bad idea to judge someone on just a very small clip.
