"A player can't fight anyone, can only perform and knock on the door for selection" : Sadaf Hussain

We played Bhatti, Wahab, Anwar, Rahat, Tanvir etc in that time.. It will be a joke if someone says he didnt deserve a chance.

Yes he deserved a chance. How good he would have been is another debate, with his numbers he should have got a chance.

looks to be 125 to 130 kph bowler in this video .....but we havegiven chances to imran khan sneior with that pace plus abbas as well.

I think, his main issue is fitness - this one probably from 3 years back, when he should be in his mid 20s - still looks unfit, with a bottom heavy structure. I believe, he is bowling with Kookaburra here, which means guy can swing it big and swing both ways and he is tall, at least 190cm (6'3"+). But, it can't be that at least 3/4 selectors/coaches/captains/bowling coaches - even PCB Chairman haven't picked him despite sterling figures for almost a decade now. Probably, it's his fitness and work ethics which doesn't encourage his selection - but must say, damn impressive.

imran khan snr was not that fit if i remmebr....guy needs to be given chances.

If he is not fit how is he bowling 22/23 overs while other fast bowlers are bowling 12/13 overs (See scorecards of last 2 FC matches)? He was not fit 3 years back because he was heartbroken and thought about leaving cricket after being continuously overlooked. Anyone in his place would have thought about the same.

Ever heard of something called bounce? It's the one thing McGrath would go on and on about in talking about the secret of his bowling. Curiously, for all the obsession about bowler's "objective" attributes, Sadaf's one obvious physical advantage never seems to merit mention; he is as close that you can get to Irfan height among Pakistani bowlers, without Irfan.

How much bounce has he and McGrath [touring in 94 and 98] extracted on the wickets of Pakistan rofl.
Now height is criteria for selection
Please google
Shaheen Shah Afridi
Mamoon Riaz
Salman Irshad [both now in Australia playing for rising qalandars]

It'll help improve your knowledge.

Bro you talk about fairness, justice etc but here you are against a guy who has been a top performer for last 7 years and is the only bowler in Pakistan who has an average of less than 20 in both First Class and List A. How is that fair?

Sadaf has been effective on every kind of pitch, look at his stats across the country. And "many different selectors" have actually also selected him. He was selected for the national ODIs side for the tour to the Windies, but was never given a chance, even in a final dead rubber match. There is no need to rationalize when the reason was reported on Cricinfo no less; an influential PCB board member Shakeel Sheikh who is close to Serthi has a personal grudge against Sadaf, and woe be upon the selector or official who mentions his name.

What's Sheikh's grudge against Sadaf?

Not against his selection, have stated before he should've been selected in 2011/12, very different set of circumstances now.
Was responding to Sadaf supporter's naive reply on height and bounce.

There are tons of better cricketers in domestic circuit [esp. batsmen] who have been ignored on purpose. Even a 40+ average on international level was'nt goof enuff for FAwad Alam.

There are many other bowlers in the circuit rite now who also deserve a chance.

How is he top performer?

currently Sohail Khan is leading wicket taker in QEA,

Sadaf Hussain first class overall average is on 18.30 with econ. of 2.93
Mir Hamza who played less than Sadaf has first class average 18.13 with econ. of 2.81,

Mir Hamza is deadly with the new bowl how many are speaking about him here?

Hope Sadaf overtakes Sohail Khan and become leading wicket takerin QEA. Would have absolutely no issue any performer gets selected. Mir Hamza also deserves to be spoken about alongwith many other ignored talented cricketers indomestic circuit like Sadaf Hussain.

His List A stats are even more impressive. Why he didn't move to some other teams based in Karachi or Lahore, as I hear he has issues with local administrator? At his stats, he can make it any Corporate team.

I was talking about both List A and First class. Sohail has few wickets more than him this season (and have been part of national squad and played matches few times) but Sadaf is a much more consistent performer in last 7 years. How this guy kept getting ignored s a mystery. The greatest injustice in Pakistan cricket. Sadaf was the highest wicket taker in Pakistan A series but was dropped from the next series.

P.S: sure bump Mir Hamza and others threads. I dont think anyone will stop you.

I know sadaf on a personal and cricketing basis. He is a very good friend of mine and I have played with him for over two years at club level. There is no issue with his fitness or bowling IQ. He is as good as anyone in Pakistan at the moment if not better. Someone being so consistent still does not get a shout in domestic or in the international scene baffles me. His got no problem with pace or bounce. Just look at his stats, he outperforms all the bowlers that are representing Pakistan at the moment

Invisible Performances Of Sadaf Hussain

If his performances are visible then why PCB not select him
therefor me thought there is some problum with his performances
at the end i feel there performances are invisible therefor PCB and his selectors not see his performances.

You all agree with me or not?

Strange case this guy. With the advent of PSL franchises, he should have caught the eye of a highly influential individual by now. Specially with the amount of media pressure.

Thanks for the info.
Everyone who somehow know about Sadaf or the ones I met related to cricket have said good things about Sadaf. Never a bad word.

I hope justice prevails one day.

Short video of Sadaf bowling earlier in QEA. Difficult to find videos of his bowling, longer ones would be more helpful.

The video has been sped up right?

Not sure. Doesn't look like it to me.

Why, does he look fast? :danish

Seems medium-fast. Around the same pace as Abbas I'd imagine.

I’ve heard he’s military medium, the king of trundlers.

heard from whom? Wahab 'phaaast' Riaz fans?

In his own words, he is 130-133 on average (said he is working on improving that pace). Said this in 2011.
When I saw him he looked around 133-135 kph.

Probably... I remember a few posters who saw him in UK club cricket saying that he’s barely 80mph and doesn’t look international quality.

Some journalists made a story of the father instead of Sadaf!

almost every notable former player of 90s is associated with some franchise. the question needs to be put forward to them, why aren't you selecting Sadaf Hussain? let's just leave our incompetent board aside in this situation
