This sounds like a convenient excuse for someone who might never be good enough to play Test cricket.

Jaiswal, Gill and most of the other new young Test cricketers are also set for a 10 years in the IPL, but they are still playing Test cricket.
 
The delusions of Indian fans never fail to amaze me.

Apparently Abhishek would be a superstar in Test cricket too but he won’t get a chance because the competition is very high in India.

The competition is so high that Rahane played 85 Tests with an average of 38 and KL Rahul has played 60 Tests with an average of 34. 🤡

He was an all rounder when he started. Then he became an opener. Became classic batsman with sound technique. Then went to Yuvraj along with Gill to master the art of hitting sixes. Gill did not lose his batting base. But Abhishek became a completely changed player. Both are buddies as they both were part of 2018 under-19 world cup team.

Gayle developed in an era when players still primarily honed their batting skills by playing red ball cricket.

As did Sehwag .

Neither does Abhishek have the technique nor the domestic numbers to suggest that he's a Test batsman.
 
Abishekh is a tulla, will be worse than Head away from home. Ayub is already setting the world alight outside of Pakistan. Shameful comparison.
 
Saim has been disappointing ever since he returned from injury.
 
One thing Pakistan must do is avoid feeding him pace bowling. We all know what he did to Archer—he destroyed pace. Pakistan’s best chance is to bring spin from both ends, which means they have to play Sufiyan and Abrar. But if they give him pace, the result will be similar to what he did to Archer.

He is hit or miss type player. He will attack from ball one so can get out early or takes the game Away from apposition team in The PP itself.

He has given the licence by team management to play attacking cricket without fear.

We have 11 match winner in the playing Eleven , each can win the game for India single Handley.

No other team has luxury of so Many match winners in the team.

For Pakistan to beat India ,they needs perfect match day along with very bad day for India like champion trophy 2017 final.

First India needs to decide if they are boycotting or not. Then their fans need to decide if Asia cup is a serious match or not. Lots of battles are being fought before the battle on the pitch. Don't be frightened of this abishek, the only thing will be shaking is his stumps when he is clean bowled.

Saim’s bowling well but is he going to complete his quota every innings?

He should focus on batting. Frustration with him is growing.

That’s what I wanted to say actually.

Bowling is not his main role, he’s completing his quota every match and doing quite well.

Batting where he’s supposed to be the next best thing, he’s been a no-show too many times. In fact post his injury he’s been consistently poor.
 
Personally, I don’t think either of Abhishek or Saim will be dominating world cricket anytime soon. Abhishek is blessed with sublime timing and hits the ball far but I feel he’s way too impulsive than he needs to be. Selecting the right balls to hit will improve his consistency. Saim is good as well but he’ll need to get better outside his off stump and get closer to the line of the ball to maximize his scores.
They both are still developing and I don’t see them becoming the top dog in the near future.
As far as picking one, I’d pick Abhishek having a greater impact because that aggression is his natural game and a bunch of stars to follow him gives him the license to go attack and play his natural game. Saim will have doubts as soon as a wicket falls at the other end because he doesn’t know when one down will become three down in two overs, and he’ll go into his shell to conserve his wicket.

It’s because he got hyped before he delivered consistently.
Pak fans are always looking for their next superstar batsman only to be left disappointed again and again.

After his Injury he hasn't performed to the standards however he's been put under to much pressure (,bowling)
 
There is no competition.

In super specialized era, Abhishek's niche is as T20 intent king. This role is where he is the best batter in India and that is why he takes #1 opener slot at national level.

Whether he has the range to be successful as a one day or Test opener is irrelevant because he does not even compete for those roles now. In domestic List A and First Class cricket there are several players with better body of work who are vying for national honours.

At this stage in his career, Abhishek's job and India's need is for him to be the best high impact medium powerplay striker he can be for India and with hectic intl and IPL schedule he will rarely find time or space to develop skillsets or body of work to compete for other roles in one day or Tests. Simply put there is no pathway from selectors and frankly no need for Abhishek to challenge for a place in these formats.

Saim Ayub is the brightest batting talent Pak has seen in last 5-6 yrs. He has major flaws in technique but he also has great strengths and being part of a weak team will get rope at intl level to develop and improve his game. His target and Pakistan's need is for him to become a high output and high consistency batter in 50 overs and Tests. I expect this will drag down his T20 skillset and he might never evolve into the uber striker he promised to be once in T20
 
It seems like Saim's purple patch is over. Has done nothing special since his comeback from injury. The upcoming tri-series and Asia Cup will tell us more

Definitely has some X factor but how do we bring it out and how can he sustain it?
Simple answer: stability/sanity at PCB

His bowling should always be a bonus. I don’t want to see him bowling 4 overs every match for his sake. He’ll get too distracted, already is.

Now, that is not just over the top but a ridiculous ask of the PCB. Their track record suggests different.
 
Saim should not call himself an all-rounder. He should not even think about becoming one... His primary job should be to bat and he should 100% focus on it... Him bowling a few overs is a bonus and should not be taken like he is a proper bowler now.
 
This guy thrashed english bowling likes of archer and wood were taken to cleaners i am really anxious pakistan facing this guy pakistan has to look to get him out otherwise this guy will finish the game in power play will be really fasnating to see him against pakistan bowling.
 
Good batsmen can thrash good bowlers and can get out to trash bowlers.lile Sky gets out against Pakistan. He opened with Travis head in the IPL. Both struggled a bit this season except when he made 141 to hunt down a target of 240 plus single handedly.

Ya you r right but i think abhishek is kind of a player who can attack you from ball one so he is really dangerous

It also depends on the pitch. Abhishek will do well on good batting tracks ad fast wickets, but he'll mistime one sooner than later on slower tracks. His strength is also his weakness - he's on steroids when he's batting and he does not slow down. If it works it's fireworks, but if the pitch is not conducive to stroke play he will perish trying, he hardly defends.

I have a feeling Gill will upset Abhishek's rhythm with his "singles" approach. Both are great friends. Jaiswal and Abhishek dream made in heaven. Alas they never opened together.

I don't think he will. Abhishek will get the strike at some point and he will not care about singles, he'll hit it regardless. He has Sehwag's mentality - see ball hit ball. Sehwag wasn't bothered about Dravid or Sachin being at the other end, Abhishek won't care about Gill or anyone else either.
 
Abhishek scored 31 from just 13 balls with strike rate of 239 in Asia cup match between India and Pakistan .

I think the title of this thread should be "who will have a more fruitful career" rather than "who will dominate the cricketing world". Abhishek was impressive last night as he has been during the last year but I still feel he will not be a long term fixture in the Indian side like Gill or Jaiswal. He will be the flavor of the month until the next IPL sensation displaces him. But that's just my gut feeling. Saim, on the other hand might end up having a longer career given Pakistan's limited options.
 
Abhishek is more of a natural T20 batter, so he will be successful in that format. Saim will be successful in ODIs as I don't see him as a T20 batter. Abhishek might struggle getting into the ODI side due to the competition as we already have Rohit, Jaiswal and Gill competing for the top spot.
 
Abhishek Sharma looks like a devastating batsman, the way he thrashed Shaheen Afridi he is having long and successful career

I appeal PP posters to stop comparing Pakistani players with Indian greats. Have no problem if Pakistani players comparison made with srilankan, Bangladeshi, Afghanistan, Zimbabwe, Kenyan players
 
LOL... this is a crime to compare them...Abhishek is miles ahead of Saim in terms of t20 batting... I think he will do better job in ODIs as well..

Considering India and Pakistan's systems, the Indian player will ultimately always win out in these comparisons.

Even the likes of KL Rahul/Iyer are better than Babar now and will end up with better careers.
 
As someone who barely watches even the IPL, this was my first real look at Abhishek. His SR suggests tulleybaazi, but he wasn't just throwing his bat at the deliveries. It was pure stroke making.

Saim seemed like a fine bowler too, he has a good-boy look about him.

Now that the shock is over, I've changed strategy. Since last match didnt work.

I will now be watching the matches LIVE ON TV. One failure doesnt disqualify Haris from Man of the Tournament.

As far as this Abhishek Sharma concerned he seems like a devastating batsman but why he looks like he is about to cry all the time.

His face is like he will cry at any minute weird facial expressions this guy has.

Saim Ayub isn't Axar Patel. He's getting extremely helpful wickets and despite this is obviously bowling worse then actual specialist spinners such as Varun, Kuldeep, noor Ahmed etc etc.

On any normal wicket he'd get spanked badly.

His job is that of an opening batter not an allrounder but hes bowling cause he needs sone excuse to remain in the team. His bowling is actually worse then Hafeez and Malik and hafeez was good but malik was nothing special yet malik has more match winning spells with the ball then Saim does atm.

If you want a no 8 to replace Faheem on UAE and spin friendly wickets then the likes of mubasir Khan, Mehran Mumtaz exist.

Heck Muhammad Nawaz can occupy that no as Pakistan is delusionally making nawaz bat at no 6 when in reality nawaz is a certified no 8

Haris is okayish. He is nothing special and is a medicore cricketer but I think most people on this forumn acknowledge he's crap but can occasionally play a good innings like he has done at no 3.

Problem is people are hyping Saim and at one point hyped him = to Saeed Anwar or > due to Aus and SA series.

While I believe Saeed Anwar is a tad bit overrated due to feasting on minnow attacks, He still feasted on them while Saim has flunked against them excluding his purple patch run against Australia, Zimbabwe and South Africa.

And even then Saeed has played classy knocks against all attacks. Saim Ayub hasnt even come close to surpassing Fakhar Zaman yet.

In both odi and even t20 where fakhar is a bit of a failure the gulf between these 2 is massive.
 
Saim Ayub is good enough to be the main red ball spinner for Pakistan. I don’t think those 2 uncles who currently play will last too long. Sufyan is decent but will have a short shelf life. Abrar is currently the best spinner in Pak but he is also mystery type so will have a small shelf life. I feel Saim is going to be the prime spinner for Pak. He has the talent. On pure batting ability he is 2-3 notches below Abhishek. As a total package he is very good. Can be almost a Jadeja level player if handled properly.
