After Faheem Ashraf, another batsman the opener Abid Ali has credited improvement in his batting to hard work with Mohammad Yousuf at the NCA. Abid looks a more confident and positive batsman now as compared to before.

One thing, I noticed about his batting is his use of the feet was much better versus the spinners as compared to before. Their were no hard hands pushing at the ball versus the pacers as well.

Seems like all of the Pakistani batsmen should have sessions with Yousuf! I bet the likes of Haider Ali and Khushdil would significantly improve after a few sessions with Yousuf.

Abid Ali thanking Mohammad Yousaf for his advice during training sessions conducted in Lahore:

“Mohammad Yousaf, during training at the National High Performance Centre and camps, also gave me a lot of guidance and told me to focus on the basics. Younis Khan told me that I wasn't playing badly and that I was just experiencing a bad patch. He told me that I would come out of this. Misbah also kept insisting that I had the ability to play a big knock. The confidence I have gained from this double ton will aid me in the series against West Indies and in the future as well. It was not easy to make runs on a slow wicket but I waited patiently for the bad balls which helped me score"

Rumors are that he would be next (temporary) batting coach of Pakistan national team.

That is unlikely imo. Given the history between Ramiz and Yousuf
Personal differences should be put aside.Pakistan comes first.Yousaf was one of the best batsman. He used to score boundaries effortlessly. If he is the best we have got then he should be the batting coach.

That is great news. Really hope Ramiz puts ego aside and not remove him. Probably best for him to stay at nhpc rather than become team batting coach because you really can't change technique and fix issues on tour, you need more time to do it off line and off season.
Maybe Babar can skip some meaningless tours some time and work with him on his game against spin.

Abid Ali is 34 officially. So, he may not have many years left.

Pakistan should groom younger openers also.

Good to see Mohammad Yousuf helping with improvement. Yousuf can teach a lot to upcoming youngsters.

Behind Inzi, MY is the 2nd most talented batsman we have ever produced. And like Inzi, never hit the heights( especially on hard bouncier wickets) he should have hit relative to his talent.

Poor Younis Khan, I haven't seen anyone come out and give him credit for batting improvement. Not that I blame them even if one did occur.

Class player. MoYo should maybe think about coaching u19s for pakistan for a long time, because the ‘great Younis khan’ is too big for such a role.

He only has to credit himself for putting in the hours.

He still needs to play at least one big knock in SENA to prove his critics wrong.

His performance was top class for Pakistan in this match but still, I think this performance was just because he was playing against a very ordinary Bangla side.

He has played 9 matches & 17 innings vs Eng, SA, NZ & WI where he has managed only 321 runs at an average of 18.88

At the moment he is just another minnow basher who even cannot perform vs good bowling sides at home as well.

Precisely. And if you watch him bat, there is little to no improvement in his batting, it's as you say just a side effect of playing BD. If Hasan was bowling to him like he did in this test, he would have had a field with Abid. Bangladesh have a woeful pace attack and their spin department is not that good either. WI and SA series were this year and they showed how good Abid really is. Australia will be the same with Cummins, Hazelwood and Starc.

Abid Ali needs to reflect on his performance in England. Yes i agree bigger names and great players have struggled there but this guy was absolutely clueless and hardly got into double figures. We don't need an Abid Ali who bashes minnows on dead asian pitches and lookes all at sea when playing in SENA. Also he is 34 now so best to groom young boys. They wont do worse away from Asia im sure. Its baffling to see how some are judging him on his performance on batting pitches and forget how he did last time he was away. For me personally even a 200 in next game isn't good enough to justify his place in this team especially when building a team and keeping away tours in mind.

Abid's technique and style of batting is very good for Asia. His movement and center of gravity at the crease is excellent and he tends to get into good positions when playing his shots.

The problem is that when the ball doesn't stay low and moves around a bit, he looks downright ugly at the crease. He gets all fidgety and usually struggles to get into those good positions while playing his shots. And his lack of confidence in such conditions is usually best illustrated at the start of the innings against the new ball.

This weakness of his was evident in West Indies until very recently. So for me, he needs to work on that aspect of his game more than anything else. Otherwise he runs the risk of becoming a one-dimensional player who can only play in certain types of conditions.
