1. In Indian culture broadly, calling someone a suyar remains a below the belt insult. Worse than calling someone a dog. But I am bit surprised at this question, Christians love their bacon but calling someone a pig anywhere in the world is considered insulting. The only loophole I see here is that someone might come up with some photo or story of a pig shaped dirty being revered in some part of India and use it as an excuse to defend this. Even in that case, it’s always your intention that matters. Blacks might casually use the N word for each other but the moment a white man says it, it’s considered racism because of the historical context.

2. Pakistani fans have repeatedly compared the comments by random trolls to that of celebrated figures. Firstly, referring to a legendary cricketer like Inzamam as Aaloo is extremely regrettable. If a celebrated Indian personality does it, I would say it’s almost as bad as what MoYo did. Its indefensible.

3. Absolutely. He was visibly hurt by the antics of Indian cricket team (which were not in the spirit of the game) and chose his platform to give what he thought was a befitting reply. But it was a very disgusting and low level comment not expected from a public figure, more so because we don’t want to be pulled into a situation ex cricketers from both nations stoop themselves to using gutter language on a regular basis while covering a great sport. It’s not the right precedent. This action deserves no retaliation but strong condemnation.

Lastly, mistakes happen and there’s no reason to bury a great ex cricketer on the basis of one comment. Years ago Rashid Latif delivered a disgusting racist monologue against Hindus in particular. People moved on from that to give him all the YouTube views to keep him relevant. We can do that for MoYo also but under no circumstances should disgusting behaviour be brushed aside. It should meet the necessary criticism and shame it deserves.

Take Pant for example. I mean if your surname is Pant, why the heck would you name him something rhymes with rishabh with a P. Same thing with Surya - I mean what kind of name is that anyway?

In this single paragraph you have betrayed a lack of cultural understanding, while espousing a narrow parochial perspective.

Following your examine, who the heck would take the surname Khan when it clearly rhymes with a word that starts G? Or worse, Erdogan?

Why would someone take the surname Bhatti? Should I tell you what that rhymes with?

Take a look at Muslim / Pakistani names for example. They know how to put a masculine touch to their names like Fakhar, Anas, Sheikh Yaboody, Faqir Butt, Afaq
